Effects of Paraffin Wax Therapy vs METs in Post Burn Hand Contractures

The degree of the burn and the rate of scar development during healing are the main determinants of loss of hand function following thermal injury. Compared to adults, managing these injuries in children presents unique challenges due to three factors: (I) children's thin hand skin makes it difficult to protect deep hilar structures; (II) rapid growth of the hand and fingers in the second and third years of life can cause contusion scar deformity; and (III) treatment is frequently challenging due to the young child's lack of cooperation. The manual technique known as Muscle Energy Technique (MET) primarily targets the soft tissues, although it also has significant effects on the muscles. Osteopaths and is currently utilized by a variety of manual therapy professions as a contribution to joint mobilization. This method is also known as the active muscular relaxation technique or the muscle energy technique. Exercise is necessary to maintain mobility, which in turn depends on overcoming dryness and decreased suppleness of the scar tissue across the joint, which in turn depends on preventing joint stiffness. Heat therapy for the relief of joint pain and stiffness was established using paraffin and prolonged stretching. When used as a treatment method, paraffin wax is heated to a temperature between 115 and 118 degrees.

Comparative Analysis of Two Animal-derived ADMs in Irradiated Implant-based Reconstruction

The goal of this retrospective observational trial is to compare two different devices, used in implant-based breast reconstruction, called acellular dermal matrices, which are a sort of collagen patch that integrates with the tissues of the patient and helps in contrasting the collateral effects of radiotherapy (capsular contracture, implant loss) The main questions the study aims to answer are: - is one of the two matrices better than the other? (better results with fewer complications) - is there a group of patients who benefit more than another from the use of this type of devices? - is there an adm which works better in one specific subgroup of patients? Participants have undergone mastectomy, radiotherapy and implant reconstruction with the aid of two different kinds of acellular dermal matrices. Researchers will compare patients who receive the porcine-derived adm and the patients who receive bovine-derived adm to see if there is a difference in terms of capsular contracture reduction, aestethic result and complications.

The aim is to determine whether the game of ice hockey has an effect on structural changes in the hip joint. The parameter to be investigated will be the increased frequency of structural changes of the hip joint in ice hockey players compared to a control group. Participants in the study will undergo MSK sonographic examination of both hip joints followed by functional hip mobility testing. The functional testing consists of three tests. Data will be processed in MS Office in MS Word, and the resulting data will be subject to statistical evaluation.

Experimental and Clinical Investigation of the Implant Surface Roughness Reduction Effect on Early-stage Fibrosis

The goal of this single-center, randomised double-blinded trial is to compare the early stage fibrosis progression around conventional textured expander and the SmoothSilk® expander with reduced surface roughness in women undergoing bilateral nipple or skin sparing mastectomy in a prophylactic setting followed by tissue-expander based breast reconstruction. Researchers will compare intra-individually, the conventional textured expander CPX®(Mentor) and the SmoothSilk® (Motiva) expander (i) to gain a comprehensive insight into immunological mechanisms occurring at the timepoint of expander insertion (within the first days after implantation) based on WBF analysis in vitro, (ii)to determine the role and function of immune cells in a rather early stage of capsule formation (6-8 months after implantation) and under well-defined conditions in humans as well as (iii)to analyze the aesthetic outcome and clinical parameters after bilateral implant-based reconstruction using two expanders with varying surface topography within the individual patient (intra-individually).

Introduction: Flexion contracture is one of the most frequent complications in finger trauma. The use of orthoses to obtain the best total end range time (TERT) is the most popular method to treat this pathology . Until now, no orthosis applied for longer than 3 weeks had been able to achieve TERT longer than 12 hours. Purpose of the study: To assess whether the elastic tension digital neoprene orthosis (ETDNO), using a serial dynamic program, can achieve a better result in ROM and TERT than other orthoses described in the literature. Methods: analysis of outcomes in a sample of 30 patients with PIP joint flexion contracture treated with the ETDNO and serial dynamic program.
