Filter by:The novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 infection, COVID, continues to rage throughout the world with 115,000,000 confirmed cases and over 2,500,000 deaths (as of Mar 3, 2021). This translates to millions of people surviving COVID19 infection. While the lungs are ground zero, COVID tears through organ systems from brain to blood vessels. We are now beginning to see people recover but complain of ongoing problems, including lingering cognitive problems, depression, and anxiety. We have brought together 2 laboratories with complementary techniques including psychological testing and neuroimaging methods togethers with markers in the blood that may signal damage in the brain. A close look at these problems is timely and imperative if we are to understand the pathophysiology of 'COVID brain' and prepare for downstream problems.

In this trial, the herbal supplement (GeniusDrops) will be tested to see the effects it has on the dependent variables of interest. Participants will take the supplement twice a day for a month and respond to surveys at study baseline, midpoint, and the conclusion of the study. The findings of this study will be used for marketing materials and to inform future trials using the supplement.
Lithium therapy is cornerstone in therapy of bipolar disorders. A well known side-effect of lithium therapy is a urinary concentration defect which manifests in it's most severe form as nephrogenic diabetes insipidus. The development of urinary concentration defects and its progression to nephrogenic diabetes insipidus in the population of lithium treated patients is unknown and therefore this study aims to evaluate the decline of urinary concentration defects in a Dutch population of lithium treated patients. In this prospective cohort study, 51 participants treated with lithium at Canisius Wilhelmina Hospital, Nijmegen and included in the previous study in 2012 will be approached to undergo a follow-up dDAVP-test.
Background: Noise in operating rooms (ORs) during surgery may affect OR personnel and pose a threat to patient safety. The sources of noise vary depending on the operation. We aimed to study how OR staff perceived noise, whether music was considered noise and what its perceived effects were. Methods: Surgeons, anesthesiologists, residents, and nurses were interviewed. IPads were placed in the ORs to gather noise level data.
This open-label field trial evaluates the effects of treatment with a multi-pathway dietary supplement (Stem Cell 100+) that has been commercially available for several years. The objective of the intervention trial is to determine if normal subjects over 35 years of age experience any observable health benefits from the dietary supplement as to their blood pressure, pulse rate, blood cholesterol, lung capacity, stress levels, or self reported changes in markers of overall health and life expectancy.
