Filter by:To assess the efficacy and safety of the use of probiotics as food supplements in reducing the SCORAD index in children with atopic skin compared with placebo. This is a randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind clinical trial with 2 parallel groups, which will include 32 patients who attend some of the research centers. Patients will be randomized into one of the 2 study groups (allocation ratio 1: 1): Experimental group (Lactobacillus rhamnosus LRa05) and placebo group (placebo). The reduction of the SCORAD index, the number of sprouts in 12 weeks, the days of use of topical corticosteroids and one valuations of the skin condition (hydration).
This prospective, international, multicenter observational study will include hospitals performing pediatric surgery in participating Latin American countries. We aim to assess the incidence of hospital postoperative complications in pediatric surgical patients < 18-years-old in Latin America. We will recruit all consecutive pediatric patients under the age of 18 years who were admitted to participating hospitals undergoing elective and nonelective surgery. The primary outcome is in-hospital postoperative complications up to 30 days after surgery.
Researchers are looking for a better way to help children under the age of 18 with any known or suspected problems scheduled for a "contrast-enhanced" Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). MRI is used by doctors to create detailed images of the inside of the body to identify health problems. Sometimes doctors need to inject a contrast agent into a patient's vein to perform a "contrast-enhanced" MRI (CE-MRI). Such CE-MRI examinations may support doctors to identify certain health problems or improve their evaluation. The contrast agents commonly used in MRI are gadolinium-based contrast agents (GBCAs). GBCAs contain a "rare earth" element called gadolinium (Gd), which is needed for the increase in signal intensity and contrast in MRI. The gadolinium in these contrast agents is caged in a molecule (chelate complex). Researchers are developing new contrast agents with a lower amount of Gd needed per CE-MRI investigation. Gadoquatrane is one of these new contrast agents. It has been tested in several studies previously. The main purpose of this study is to learn how gadoquatrane moves into, through, and out of the body and how safe it is in children. The researchers will measure the amount of gadoquatrane in the blood at different time points after a single injection. The participants will undergo an MRI examination and receive gadoquatrane once at a dose of 0.04 mmol Gd/kg (corresponding to 0.1 mL/kg). It is injected into the participant's vein (also called an intravenous injection) during the MRI examination. Each participant will be in the study for between 8 and 38 days with up to 5 doctor visits, including the screening phase of up to 28 days with no more than 2 visits. Once a participant has received the injection of gadoquatrane, the remaining study duration is 7 (±1) days. At the start or during the study, the doctors and their study team will: - check the weight and height of the participant, - ask for information including age and medical history, - take participants' blood samples, - ask participants and/or their guardians questions about medicines they are taking, - check blood pressure, heart rate and body temperature, - check the area where the participants had the intravenous injection, - do pregnancy tests in girls of childbearing age, - review the MRI scans obtained in the study and decide on the diagnosis - ask the participants questions about how they are feeling and what adverse events they are having. An adverse event is any medical problem that a participant has during a study. Doctors keep track of all adverse events, irrespective if they think it is related or not to the study treatments.

The purpose of this study is to determine the effects of dairy consumption on short-term cognitive performance, subjective mood and emotions, and glycemic response in healthy children aged 9 - 14 years. The investigators hypothesize that the consumption of dairy products as a mid-morning snack will improve mood and cognitive performance in children. Furthermore, the investigators hypothesize that all dairy products consumed as a mid-morning snack will imbue more benefits on mood and cognitive performance over 2-hours compared to fruit juice or snack skipping.
The aim of the randomized controlled study is to examine the effects of ShotBlocker, finger puppet and balloon inflation methods applied during intramuscular injection procedure on children's pain and fear level.
According to the World Health Organization, more than 50 million people have epilepsy. Among them, nearly 80% of epileptic patients live in developing countries and 75% of them do not have access to treatment. The ketogenic diet (KD) has been shown as an effective alternative for patients with drug-resistant epilepsy. Although it has been studied by few studies in Asia, no such studies have been conducted in Vietnam. The purpose of this study was to verify the feasibility, tolerability, and efficacy of the KD in children with refractory epilepsies followed at a pediatric center in South Vietnam.

The aim of the study is to examine the effect of the preoperative education given to the parents of the children who will undergo day surgery on the parents' perception of family-centered care and anxiety. It is a randomized controlled trial. In this parallel group study, intervention group and control group will take place. The research will be carried out in the pediatric surgery service of the Selcuk University Medical Faculty Hospital. A total of 60 parents, including the intervention group (n=30) and the control group (n=30), will be included in the study. Parents to be included in the study will be assigned to intervention and control groups by randomization method. The randomization will be hidden from the researcher conducting the trial until the administration begins. The researcher will be given 60 envelopes and will begin to open the envelopes when he meets the parent. The researcher will learn which group each parent is in just before the application. Data collection tools; information form, state anxiety scale and Family Centered Care Assessment Scale. During the data collection phase, the purpose of the research will be explained to the parents by the researcher, information about the study will be given and consent will be obtained from the parents who agreed to participate in the research through the "Informed Voluntary Consent Form". A brochure prepared in line with the literature and the training given in the hospital will be given to the initiative group and verbal information will be given. On the other hand, only verbal information will be given to the control group, which is done in the hospital routine. The contents of the brochure include Preparation at Home 1 Day Before the Day of Surgery, Preparation at the Hospital on the Day of Surgery, and Home Care After the Surgery. Brochure and information will be given to the intervention group in the polyclinic one day before the surgery. Information Form, State Anxiety Scale and Family Centered Care Evaluation Scale will be filled in the polyclinic. The Information Form will be filled with the information obtained from the parents and the patient file. State Anxiety Scale and Family Centered Care Assessment Scale will be filled during discharge. Data will be analyzed with the IBM SPSS 22 (IBM Corporation, New York, NY) program. Partial eta squared will be calculated for the effect size and the significance level will be accepted as p<0.05.
