Can Fasting Decrease the Side Effects of Chemotherapy?

This is a prospective randomized crossover trial. Patients will be randomized to the FMD or regular diet during three rounds of chemotherapy. After the third round, patients will cross over to the opposite arm. The primary hypothesis is that there will be fewer cases of Grade 2-4 nausea when patients are in the FMD sequence. The primary objective is to assess differences in toxicities in patients undergoing chemotherapy with a combination of taxol/carboplatin when using a fasting mimicking diet when compared to normal diet before and after treatment.

GS Regimen as the First-line Chemotherapy in Chinese Advanced PC Patients

Gemcitabine plus S-1 (GS) prolonged progression-free survival (PFS) and greatly improved objective response rate (ORR) as well as disease control rate (DCR) of Asian patients with locally advanced and metastatic pancreatic cancer (PC). However, limited data of GS regimen exist on the efficacy and safety in the treatment of Chinese patients with advanced PC. To assess the efficacy and safety of gemcitabine plus S-1 (GS regimen) as the first-line chemotherapy in Chinese patients with advanced PC, we designed this prospective study.

C677T and A1298C MTHFR Polymorphisms and Fluoropyrimidine Effectiveness in Metastatic Colon Cancer

Fluoropyrimidines are the backbone of chemotherapy regimes used to treat metastatic colorectal cancer (CRC). These drugs act in different pathways of folate metabolism altering DNA synthesis mainly by inhibition of the tymidylate synthase. For this reaction the 5,10-methylenetetrahydrofolate acts as cofactor. It has been demonstrated that A1298C and C677T polymorphisms in the methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) gene result in reduced enzyme activity that leads to reduced availability of this important cofactor. Hence, we hypothesized that the presence of these polymorphisms are related to the efficacy and toxicity of fluoropyrimidines in patients with CRC.

Intraperitoneal and System Chemotherapy Versus XELOX as First-line Chemotherapy for mCRC

XELOX as first-line treatment regimen has limited efficacy against patients with metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC). Peritoneal metastasis is one of the most lethal factor for mCRC. Intraperitoneal chemotherapy has became a widely accepted strategy in the treatment of peritoneal dissemination. We hypothesized that combined multi-channel administration, such as intraperitoneal chemotherapy, oral chemotherapy, and intravenous chemotherapy, can produce better results than XELOX for first-line treatment for mCRC patients.

Clinical Study of Xinmailong Injection on Reducing Cardiovascular Toxicity in Adjuvant Chemotherapy in Breast Cancer

The Value of Geriatric Assessments in Older Patients With Breast Cancer

Elderly cancer patients are a special group, often complicated by a variety of chronic diseases, which bring serious obstacles to surgery and adjuvant treatment. It is for these reasons that most patients with high-level evidence-based randomized controlled clinical trials will be part of these patients. Exclusions ultimately lead to a lack of standards for the treatment of elderly breast cancer patients, especially the chemotherapy. Investigators' purpose was to determine whether geriatric assessments are associated with completion of a chemotherapy course, grade III/IV toxicity or survival in older adults with breast cancer in older patients. Investigators want to prospectively enroll breast cancer patients with age ≥70 years. By recording the pre-treatment baseline laboratory tests and geriatric assessments, through questionnaires, including Karnofsky performance status(KPS), Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group(ECOG), Mini Nutritional Assessment(MNA), Activity of daily living(ADL), Instrumental activities of daily living(IADL), Mini-Mental State Examination(MMSE), Geriatric Depression Scale(GDS), G-8, Vulnerable Elders Survey-13(VES-13) and FRAIL, Tilburg. Investigators want to learn the relationship between the geriatric assessments and chemotherapy toxicity, chemotherapy completion and overall survival. Establish a model for predicting chemotherapy side effects in old breast cancer patients.

Prophylactic Gabapentin for Taxane-Induced Arthralgia and Myalgia Syndrome in Breast Cancer Patients Undergoing Adjuvant Chemotherapy

Taxane-induced arthralgia and myalgia syndrome (TAMS) is one of the most common side effects of taxane chemotherapy. This prospective randomized controlled trial will evaluate the efficacy of gabapentin administered prophylactically on days -2 to +5 during the taxane-portion of chemotherapy for adjuvant breast cancer patients on reducing TAMS. This will be compared to observation alone.

Prevention of Chest Pain in Chemo-treated Cancer Patients

This is a prospective, exploratory, randomised clinical trial. Patients with diagnosed cancer that are to be treated with 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) will be randomised into standard oncological treatment or a cardiological assessment prior to the 5-FU treatment. The investigators hypothesize that aggressive management of ischemic risk factors in asymptomatic patients will reduce the number of hospitalisations and investigations for acute coronary syndrome during and after 5-FU treatment and that patients with high coronary artery calcium scores are more likely to experience chest pain during the treatment with 5-FU.
