Filter by:Background: Burnout is common among nurses and is related to negative outcomes of medical care. This study aimed to explore the effectiveness of Balint group activities in burnout reduction among nurse leaders in a Chinese hospital. Methods: This was a randomised controlled trial with a pre- and post-test. A total of 80 nurse leaders were randomly assigned to either a Balint group (n=40) or a non-Balint group (n=40). Participants in the Balint group completed Balint training for a period of three months. Participants in both groups completed the Maslach Burnout Inventory-Human Services Survey (MBI) and the General Self-Efficacy Scale (GSES) at the beginning and end of the study(three months later ). Balint group members also completed the Group Climate Questionnaire-Short Format the end of the study(three months later ).
The goal of this clinical trial is to evaluate the effectiveness of training on non-pharmacological therapies (NPT) for people with dementia (PWD) on professional caregivers burnout and well-being in the relationship between caregivers and people with dementia (PWD) living in nursing home. The main questions it aims to answer are: - Does I-ACE training, that includes a training in the emotional-behavioral reading of body language and the recognition of one's own emotions and those of others, reduces professional caregiver burnout? - Does I-ACE training improves the ability to understand and respond to the emotions of the other starting from the signals expressed by the eyes, the activation of the predisposition to the relationship in terms of increase of salivary oxytocin, the sense of competence of the carers, the ethical climate at the workplace and the quality of life of the resident perceived by the team? Participants will attend twenty-two sessions: two theoretical meetings on dementia and NPT; ten supervision meetings on the methodology for implementing non-pharmacological therapies based on discussions of cases; ten meetings on the exploration of the bodily aspects involved in the relationship through theatrical exercises. The same cases will be re-discussed in the light of the body-emotional approach. Researchers will compare the I-ACE group with an active control group and an usual care control group to see if there are improvements in term of professional caregivers burnout, their ability to understand and respond to the emotions of PWD, increase of their levels of salivary oxytocin, sense of competence of the carers, the ethical climate at the workplace and the quality of life of the resident perceived by the team.
The purpose of the study is to determine physical and mental health issues of U.K. embryologists related to their occupational characteristics, and how workplace fatigue and burnout may affect their quality of life, cynicism, interactions with patients, attention to detail, and lead to human error, the cause of the most severe IVF incidents that often make headlines and result in costly litigation. It will also correlate how the current manual workflows contribute to these health issues, and what measures can be taken to improve both working conditions and embryologists' health, and, therefore, improve patient care.
The goal of this clinical trial is to test how well resource navigators help long-term care and retirement home staff access the various health and wellness resources available to them and the effects that this has on their health and wellness overall. The main questions it aims to answer are: - How does one-on-one support from a resource navigator affect the wellness of long-term care and retirement home staff, including burnout, vaccination status, and COVID-19 infection? Researchers will compare participants in the intervention group (where participants are paired with a resource navigator) and the control group (where participants are not paired with a resource navigator) to see the impact access to a resource navigator has on wellness (primary outcome), burnout, knowledge of, access to and use of wellness resources, knowledge/alignment with provincial public health guidelines related to SARS-CoV-2 vaccine outcomes, SARS-CoV-2 infection, hospitalization, and death (secondary outcomes). Hypothesis: Researchers anticipate that those in the intervention group (have access to a resource navigator) will report a higher positive change in wellness between baseline and 6 months.
The goal of this clinical trial is to learn about burnout syndrome among healthcare workers in tertiary hospital. The main questions It aims to answer are the effects of music therapy on burnout syndrome among healthcare workers. Participants will get examined using Maslach Burnout Inventory-Human Service Survey and Heart Rate Variability device before and after music therapy intervention.
The objective of this pilot randomized controlled trial is to evaluate the effects of Expressive Art Therapy on reducing burnout and stress symptoms among Hong Kong's primary and secondary school teachers. The proposed study is a pilot randomized controlled trial. Prior to all study procedures, 90 participants (i.e., primary and secondary school teachers) will be recruited to complete an online informed consent with telephone support. Eligible participants will be randomly assigned to either the Expressive Arts Therapy group (ExAT group) or the waitlist control group (WL group) in a ratio of 1:1. The ExAT group will receive the Expressive Arts intervention via face-to-face workshops for 2 consecutive weeks (2 hours per session). There are a total of 3 batches (around 15 participants per batch) for the intervention. Participants in this group will be in touch with their inner selves and inner resources via body movement, writing and music. There will be visual art creation as a conclusion for integrating the body and mind. The art products would be placed in their workplace for stress regulation. The WL control group will not receive any intervention during the study, but they will receive self-help art therapy materials after the whole study procedure. The outcome measures include burnout, stress, depressive, and anxiety symptoms, as well as insomnia symptoms, physical activity, health-related quality of life, and the intervention acceptability at baseline, immediate post-treatment, and 4-week follow-up assessments by completing the same questionnaire set.
The goal of this study is to compare the experience of intensive care unit (ICU) families and care providers before and after the implementation of an approach whereby clinicians initiate written communication with families The main questions it aims to answer are 1. Is ICU care-provider initiated written communication feasible and acceptable to participants? 2. Does ICU care-provider initiated written communication affect the experience of families and care providers? Participants will complete surveys and participate in interviews during a 3 month pre-implementation phase and a 3 month post-implementation phase
This is a research study to find out if web-based resilience tools can increase well-being. Enrolled participants will try out one or more brief positive psychology tools. The tools ask participants to reflect on positive experiences or to do an activity (e.g., write a letter of gratitude). The study is entirely online and participants will be prompted to participate via email or text messages. The study team is interested in the effects of the tools on stress, depression, and burnout in adults. A set of brief surveys are administered before and after using the tool, and again at follow-up periods (e.g., 1, 3, 6 and 12 months). Surveys are collected electronically using the secure, HIPAA-compliant survey software. There is no direct benefit to participants for participating in this research study aside from the potential to experience improvements in well-being. Risks are minimal and include the potential to feel emotional or psychological distress when asked questions related to burnout.
Better Together Physician Coaching ("Better Together", or "BT"), a 4-month, web-based positive psychology multimodal coaching program was built to decrease burnout in medical trainees. Here, the investigators seek to understand it's efficacy in University of Colorado School of Medicine (CU SOM) clinicians Aim 1: Implement Better Together in University of Colorado School of Medicine clinicians Aim 2: Assess outcomes: primary: reduce burnout as measured by the Maslach Burnout Index (goal: 10% relative improvement), and secondary: self-compassion, imposter syndrome, flourishing, loneliness, and moral injury. Aim 3: Advance the field of coaching for clinicians through innovation and dissemination of evidence-based approaches to clinician wellbeing.
The design comprises a cluster, randomized waitlist controlled design. The goal of the study is to prevent stress and burnout in middle managers and employees in a hospital setting. The study population is middle managers in a hospital setting. The intervention comprises five training modules with practice in small groups in between. Training will take place over 5 months. The training will be received in groups of 20 middle managers and the training will be facilitated by 2 facilitators. Themes of training are inspired by the concept of Health Oriented Leadership which takes into account that the well-being of managers is important for the well-being of employees. Central themes of the training are: 1) Self-care and well-being of the manager and how to cope with stress as a manager. 2) Employee well-being and reducing risk-factors in the psychosocial working environment of employee mental health problems. 3) Enhancing protective factors social social support and a healthy team climate. 4) Responding to employees at risk and how to handle difficult conversations and procedures on return to work. 5) Managing well-being in employees during changes and pressure. In order to establish commitment for the waitlist control group, the control group will receive an offer of a webinar and some written information. Middle managers in both intervention arms will receive a questionnaire at baseline, after the intervention and at 6 months follow-up. The intervention group will also receive a short questionnaire after each training. The following expectations are hypothesized: The training will improve self-care and perceived staff-care in middle managers and employees in the intervention group when compared to the control group The training will improve psychological outcomes of stress, well-being, exhaustion and psychological symptoms among middle managers and employees in the intervention group when compared to the control group The training will improve the perceived psychosocial working environment (PSWE) among middle managers and employees in the intervention group when compared to the control group The training will reduce sickness absence and retention among middle managers and employees in the intervention group when compared to the control group Middle managers who adhere more to the training will experience larger improvements in self-care, staff-care and mental outcomes
