Radiomic fEatures of Pancreas From Contrast Enhanced CT Image Predict One-Year RecUrrence Risk of Acute PancReatitis

One-year recurrence rate of acute pancreatitis at about 20%. 36% of the patients with recurrent acute pancreatitis will develop into chronic pancreatitis. In addition to negative impact on patient's quality of life, chronic pancreatitis is also associated with the occurrence of pancreatic cancer. The etiology of recurrent acute pancreatitis (RAP) can be divided into mechanical obstructive factors (e.g. cholelithiasis, cholestasis), metabolic abnormality and toxic substance factors (e.g. hyperlipidemia and alcoholism), and other or idiopathic factors. At present, the diagnosis and treatment of RAP remains highly challenging. Early identification and intervention on risk factors of recurrence will be effective in reducing incidence and improving prognosis. Contrast-enhanced Computed Tomography (CT) can not only provide more imaging information and further assess the severity of acute pancreatitis, but also aid in the differentiation of other diseases associated with acute abdominal pain. In addition, radiomics based on raw radiographic data has become a research hotspot in recent years. The purpose of this study is to establish and validate a deep learning model based on high concentration iopromide-enhanced abdominal CT images which is designed to predict the recurrence of pancreatitis in patients with first episode of pancreatitis within the 1-year follow-up period.

Toxic and side effects during and after chemoradiotherapy for nasopharyngeal carcinoma seriously affect patients' treatment compliance and long-term quality of life. Active and effective prediction, prevention and management of toxic and side effects is an important element to improve the prognosis of patients. Leucogen has the ability to promote the growth and maturation of granulocytes in the bone marrow and the proliferation of leukocytes, and is widely used in radiation therapy and chemotherapy-induced leukopenia in malignant carcinomas. In addition, leucogen may have potential anticancer synergistic effects. Therefore, based on the application prospect of leucogen in preventing myelosuppression during chemotherapy for solid tumors, the study was designed to investigate the efficacy and safety of leucogen versus placebo on leukocyte and platelet whole-course management assisted by platinum plus low-dose long-term continuous intravenous infused 5-fluorouracil chemotherapy in the treatment of stage IV, recurrent or metastatic nasopharyngeal carcinoma.

Effects and Mechanisms of RAS Training on Upper-limb Movements in PD Patients

Introduction Bradykinesia (i.e., slow movements) is one of the most prominent symptoms of Parkinson's disease (PD) and has a negative impact on quality of life. Rhythmic auditory stimulation (RAS), a widely used and promising treatment technique, has been shown to effectively improve gait speed in PD patients. However, only few studies have explored effects and neural mechanisms of RAS on upper-limb movements. We will conduct two studies to investigate effects and mechanisms of RAS on upper-limb movements in PD patients. The purpose of this study is to examine effects and neural mechanisms of upper-limb movement training involving RAS in PD patients. Methods This study will recruit patients with PD and healthy controls. This study will randomly assign PD patients into two groups: the PD-RAS group and the PD-noRAS group, and healthy controls into the HC-RAS group and the HC-noRAS group. A 7-day upper-limb training involving RAS (for the PD-RAS group and the HC-RAS group) or without RAS (for the PD-noRAS group and the HC-noRAS group) will be provided. EEG and behavioral assessments will be conducted before and after the first day of training, and after the seven-day training program. Two-way repeated measures analysis of variance will be performed to investigate the group and time effects on upper-limb function and neural activity. Study significance The training program will serve as a reference for clinical practitioners who are interested in using RAS in clinical training for PD patients.
