NCT ID: NCT03485261 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Chronic Kidney Diseases

Female Sexual Dysfunctions in Chronic Kidney Disease

Start date: April 1, 2018
Phase:
Study type: Observational

A myriad of sexual problems affect men and women with chronic kidney disease (CKD), including decreased libido, erectile dysfunction, dysmenorrhea, and infertility. Menstrual abnormalities are common in CKD and many women are an-ovulatory. Sexual dysfunction in CKD is multifactorial including hormonal alterations along with vascular, neurologic, psychogenic, and other factors, such as medications, contribute to the development of sexual dysfunction. Sexual dysfunction in females is mainly due to hormonal factors and manifests mainly as menstrual irregularities, amenorrhea, lack of vaginal lubrication, and failure to conceive.

NCT ID: NCT03488043 Recruiting - Pneumothorax Clinical Trials

Predictive Score of PneumOThorax Secondary to CT-guided Transthoracic Lung Biopsy Made From a Large Retrospective Cohort and Validated on a Prospective Cohort

SPOT
Start date: April 1, 2018
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Transthoracic lung biopsy (TLB) provides a histological diagnosis of nodule or lung mass. Pneumothorax is the main complication of TLB with an average of 20%. Many risk factors, whether clinical, computed tomography or related to TLB, are described in the literature. The British Thoracic Society recommends monitoring for 2 hours after the procedure with a possible discharge if the chest X-ray is normal. There is no French or European recommendation for monitoring the occurrence of pneumothorax after TLB. In the university center of Besançon, France, a minimum supervision of 4 hours is recommended and approximately one in two patients is hospitalized until the following day to reach this minimum time of 4 hours. The objective of the SPOT study is to perform a predictive score of pneumothorax from a retrospective cohort of patients for whom a transthoracic lung biopsy was performed and to validate this score on a prospective cohort. The expected goal is to select patients who can benefit from outpatient care by shortening the post-procedure surveillance period and to monitor more long-term only high-risk patients.

NCT ID: NCT03491332 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Patients Scheduled for Brain Surgery

Effect of Heated Breathing Circuit on Intraoperative Core Temperature and Systemic Inflammation After Brain Surgery: a Prospective Randomized Study

Start date: April 1, 2018
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Mechanical respiration during general anesthesia causes cold and dry gases to reach the lower airway, reduce the function of the airway mucosa, and cause accumulation of secretions. Inhaled dry gas is one of the causes of hypothermia during general anesthesia. To overcome this, the warm-humidifying breathing circuit uses warm, moisture-preserving gas to promote mucus mobility of the airway mucosal ciliate cells and prevents cold gases from evaporating from the mucosal surfaces which results lowering body temperature. We aimed to investigate the effect of newly developed Sohum warm humidifying respiration circuit (SH501) on the prevention of core body temperature reduction during surgery and systemic inflammation reaction.

NCT ID: NCT03491852 Recruiting - Psychotic Disorders Clinical Trials

A Novel Treatment Approach for Self-Stigma in First Episode Psychosis

BOOST
Start date: April 1, 2018
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Stigma towards mental illness is one of the greatest barriers to functional recovery that people with psychotic disorders face. Internalization of stigma (self-stigma) is associated with increased depressive symptoms, treatment non-adherence, and reduced quality of life. Self-stigma also has functional consequences, such as social avoidance and decreased help-seeking behaviour, which may worsen symptoms and impede recovery. Despite a growing awareness of the negative outcomes associated with self-stigma, few interventions have been designed to specifically address this experience in first episode psychosis. This project proposes to determine the effectiveness of an innovative, youth-oriented, group-based intervention known as Be Outspoken and Overcome Stigmatizing Thoughts (BOOST), which aims to reduce self-stigma and promote effective communication skills for adults (16-65 years old) experiencing a first episode of psychosis.

NCT ID: NCT03491995 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Helicobacter Infections

A Unique Regimen for Treatment of Helicobacter Pylori Infection

Start date: April 1, 2018
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The triple treatment including Proton pump inhibitor (PPI) -clarithromycin and amoxicillin or metronidazole was proposed 30 years ago at the first Maastricht conference to treat helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection and since that time, it has become the universal and standard treatment for helicobacter pylori. However, the efficacy of this triple regimen has been seriously challenged, and they are gradually becoming ineffective
