Filter by:This purpose of this study is to assess the feasibility of FLASH radiotherapy for the palliative treatment of painful bone metastases. FLASH radiotherapy is radiation treatment delivered at ultra-high dose rates compared to conventional radiation treatment.
1. Evaluate the feasibility of single cell sequencing technology based on three-dimensional bionic capture network; 2. To build a risk prediction model of bone related events based on single cell sequencing; 3. To verify the risk prediction model of bone related events by single cell sequencing; 4. To verify the comprehensive treatment of non-small cell lung cancer ( NSCLC) bone metastases.
A multi-center, randomized, double-blind, comparative study to evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of QL1206 and Xgeva® in patients with bone metastases from solid tumors.
The investigators objective of this research is to compare activity monitor results with standard of care (SOC) question-based outcome measures for degenerative cervical myelopathy patients before and after treatment with decompression. Understanding of the relationship between activity monitor data and question-based outcome measures in the context of degenerative cervical myelopathy will improve our understanding of the disease and limit the effort to diagnose and monitor it.
The study will consist of two parts: - In Study A, objectively assessed physical activity, gait, balance, range of movement of specific joints during walking and neurophysiological findings between patients with cervical spine stenosis (CSS) without myelopathy who will be treated conservatively and patients with stenosis and signs of myelopathy who are candidates for surgical Treatment will be compared. - In Study B, the 6-month changes in the same outcomes in patients treated conservatively (from the first specialist consultation until 6 months later) and in patients treated surgically (preoperative day and 6-month post-operatively) will be quantified.
Radiculopathy and/or myelopathy due to cervical degenerative disc disease are increasingly common pathologies in our ageing population. Both can be treated non-surgically or surgically. The most commonly used neurosurgical treatment is anterior cervical discectomy with or without fusion. The goal is to achieve neural decompression of the operated segment in both procedures. However, due to this fusion and reduced mobility of the cervical spine at the level of the intervention, adjacent segment disease may occur. This can lead to new symptoms like radiculopathy and/or myelopathy at an adjacent level which requires reoperation in about 2/3 of patients. Reoperations are burdensome for patients and have a socio-economic impact due to the costs of hospital admissions, operations, and secondary costs such as work-absenteeism. The primary objective of this retrospective study is to determine the occurrence of adjacent segment disease after a single- or multi-level anterior cervical discectomy with fusion procedure for radiculopathy and/or myelopathy in the investigators' centre and to compare this to the incidence in literature. The investigators also look at the risk of adjacent segment disease after different anterior surgical techniques, such as anterior cervical discectomy, anterior cervical discectomy with fusion and plating, and corpectomy. As a secondary outcome they aim to determine risk factors predicting the occurrence of adjacent segment disease.

The PRE-FURTHER study aims to evaluate the feasibility of the combined treatment with radiotherapy and focussed ultrasound for pain palliation in patients with painful bone metastases, and to optimize the combined treatment logistics. Six to ten patients will be included according to in- and exclusion criteria.
The FURTHER study aims to evaluate the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of MR-HIFU (alone or in combination with EBRT) compared to EBRT alone, the standard-of-care, as a palliative treatment option to relieve CIBP. The FURTHER study consists of a multicenter, three-armed randomized controlled trial (FURTHER RCT) and a patient registry arm (FURTHER Registry), which will be performed in six hospitals in four European countries.
Shwachman-Diamond syndrome(SDS) is a rare autosomal recessive disorder involving primarily the Shwachman-Bodian-Diamond syndrome gene located on chromosome 7q11. The gene effects function of the 60S ribosome by interfering with the function of the Guanasine triphosphatase elongation factor 1 in the release of eukaryotic initiation factor 6 from the 60 S ribosomal subunit for translation initiation. Seventy five percent of the individual affected by the syndrome have a biallelic mutation (258+2T>C and 183-184T > CT). The syndrome results in defects primarily in the pancreas and bone marrow resulting in pancreatic insufficiency, leukopenia with an increased risk of infection and an increased risk for acute myelocytic leukemia. Animal models that have knocked out the function of the SBDS gene in the pancreas reveals at the pancreas at birth as well as the insulin producing cells in the pancreas are normal but subsequently developed fatty infiltration and apoptosis without inflammation resulting in pancreatic exocrine insufficiency with initially normal endocrine pancreatic function. The endocrine pancreatic function declines over time such that by 12 months of age these mice show a phenotype of impaired glucose tolerance. The finding of early onset diabetes is not yet considered a manifestation of this genetic defect but likely is occurring. This study is designed to assist in understanding the prevalence of glucose abnormalities in this syndrome. Exocrine pancreatic insufficiency leading to diabetes is a common hallmark of cystic fibrosis and cystic fibrosis related diabetes. Prevalence of glucose abnormalities in diabetes is a approaching 50% by the 2nd and 3rd decade of life in this disorder. The cystic fibrosis Foundation recommend screening for diabetes utilizing an oral glucose tolerance by the age of 10. Early diagnosis of diabetes in the syndrome as resulted in improved outcomes for patients with cystic fibrosis. It is my expectation that the prevalence of diabetes will be similar in SBDS patients. A small study performed I had the University of Cincinnati showed glucose abnormalities to occur in 5/20 individuals with the classic mutation. Investigators propose to screen patients with the classic mutation for diabetes and endocrine disease utilizing continuous glucose monitoring over a 14 day period in addition to baseline fasting blood tests for insulin, GAD 65 antibody, Fructosamine, A1c and C peptide.
