Obesity is associated with functional decline , altered spatiotemporal gait parameters (e.g. lower gait speed, shorter strides, and increased step width), and a significantly higher metabolic cost of walking compared to people with normal body weight. Obesity also negatively affects balance control.This study will investigate foot progression angle in adolescents related to their weight and category classification based on the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) growth charts.

Effects of Weighted and Elastic Resistance Training of Gluteus Maximus in Sacroiliac Joint Dysfunction

This research aims to compare the effect of weighted and elastic resistance training of gluteus maximus in subjects with sacroiliac joint dysfunction. Randomized clinical trials were done. The sample size was 54. The subjects were divided into two groups, 27 subjects in the weighted resistance training group and 27 in the elastic resisted training group. The study duration was of 1 year. The sampling technique applied was the non-probability connivance sampling technique. Only 20-40 years of symptomatic subjects with pain in the SI region for at least 12 weeks (chronic) and had no previous physical therapy treatment were included. Tools used in the study are numeric pain scale, dynamometer, and Oswestry disability index. Data was be analyzed through SPSS 21.

Enforced Reduction in Physical Activity and Recovery in Older Adults

Apparently healthy and well-functioning community dwelling 70-80 year-olds will be recruited to the study. All subjects undergo pre-screening for suitability and a physicians examination, as well as 7-day habitual daily steps are measured to ascertain baseline physical activity. Half of the recruited subjects (n=40) will be randomized into the intervention group and half (n=40) randomized into the control group. The intervention group is then required to reduce their daily steps to <2000 for a 2-week period. Thereafter, the intervention group participates to a 4-week strength+endurance training rehabilitation program and no longer has restricted daily step count. The control group continues their normal habitual physical activity level throughout the 6-week study period.
