Construction of Early Warning Model for the New Psychoactive Substances Using in Adolescents

Based on the biological-psychology-sociological medicine pattern, this study aims to construction an early warning model of the New Psychoactive Substances (NPS) using for adolescents aged 14-35 years old. This study intends to obtain the data related to the behavioral expression of addiction susceptibility genes, adverse childhood experience, cognition, resistance and the use of NPS in adolescents by questionnaire survey (sample size: 200), and then use logistic regression and machine learning to construct an early warning model.

Clinical Study of Ligustrazine in Treating Alcohol Addiction

Alcohol consumption is one of the most important risk factors for chronic non-communicable diseases in the population, and it is also the main cause of death from cancer, cardiovascular disease and lung disease, causing serious health, economic and social problems. The current alcohol-abstinence drugs have limited therapeutic effects and still present a high relapse rate. It is an urgent need to develop effective drugs for the treatment of alcohol addiction. The multimodal mechanism of action of ligustrazine in the central nervous system indicates that ligustrazine is expected to be developed as a potential therapeutic drug for alcohol addiction. Our study investigated the therapeutic effect of ligustrazine on subjects with alcohol addiction and the mechanism of multimodal brain imaging by administering ligustrazine, in order to develop new targeted drugs for alcohol treatment and provide more effective diagnosis and treatment methods for clinical treatment.

Addiction-focused EMDR in Inpatients Who Use Non-opioid Drugs: a Multiple Baseline Study

Rationale: It is well established that Substance Use Disorders (SUD) have severe health consequences. Despite behavioral and pharmacological treatment options, relapse rates remain high. In particular, for non-opioid drugs, such as amphetamines, cocaine, base-coke and cannabis, established, evidence-based pharmacological options to reduce craving, to substitute substance use or to enforce abstinence are lacking. Therefore, there is a need for effective interventions for patients who use non-opioid drugs to reach and maintain long-term abstinence. A potential interesting intervention is addiction-focused Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (AF-EMDR) therapy. However, the limited research on AF-EMDR therapy and mixed findings thus far prohibit clinical use. Recently, on the basis of diverse findings thus far, an adjusted AF-EMDR therapy protocol has been developed.

The use of the internet is very popular in adolescence. Notwithstanding the benefits from the internet, many users are addicted to the internet and develop problematic behaviours which are regarded as "Internet addiction" (IA). Trained nursing students, who are the future nurses and well-equipped with basic health knowledge, as the interventionists to deliver a bCBTMI intervention to the eligible subjects. The result of this study is expected to provide evidence of the feasibility and effectiveness of training nursing students to conduct bCBTMI in Hong Kong Chinese adolescents with IA for a definitive RCT.
