Moncentric pilot study conducted in the addictology department of the Pau Hospital, designed to demonstrate the benefit of protein supplementation on craving in patients with a substance use disorder at the start of their treatment for addiction. This study will be conducted according a crossover design with a one-week phase with protein supplementation (P) and a one-week phase without protein supplementation (SP).

In the short term, to investigate whether repetitive thumb movements during phone use will cause a spontaneous muscle activation and/or tenderness in the masseter muscle; in the long term, to investigate the relationship between strength change and tenderness of the tenar and masseter muscles depending on the intensity and duration of phone use.

Person-Centered Quality Measurement and Management in a System for Addictions Treatment in New York State (Project 3)

The goal of this study is to implement Opioid Use Disorder Quality Measurement and Management (OUD-QM2) strategy by the Office of Addiction Services and Supports (OASAS) to drive change and improve treatment practices. Through a concurrent mixed methods approach that iteratively examines quantitative and qualitative data to inform the process, the investigators will examine the effects of the strategy on stakeholders-PWUD/patients, families, and providers-and outcomes. This comprehensive approach will allow for a "global" view of the perceived effects of the OUD-QM2 strategy for all stakeholders while allowing us to use administrative data to test the effects of the strategy on patient outcomes. Through qualitative interviews and focus groups conducted in years 1, 3, and 5 of the phase, the investigators will derive information from stakeholders about their perceptions and use of the quality measures. Through surveys conducted with all clinics, the investigators will elicit data on changes in provider use of quality measures, clinical practice, and use of measures for incentive-based contracting. Finally, the investigators will conduct a stepped wedge trial to examine the effects of performance coaching that guides clinics on use of the quality measures for clinical practice improvement. The trial will also benefit from a treatment as usual (TAU) condition of clinics not participating in the trial to examine secular trends in patient outcomes across the period of the OASAS QM2 strategy rollout. The overall aim is to build and test a science-based OUD-QM2 strategy for person-centered treatment.

The aim of the present study is to apply neuroimaging techniques to investigate how physical exercise may influence the addiction circuitry, ultimately reducing alcohol consumption and craving in youth binge drinkers. This proposal will advance knowledge on how exercise may modulate the neurocircuitry of addiction. Uncovering the neurobiological mechanisms underlying the interactive neural effects of exercise and alcohol intake may provide additional scientific insights for the development of preventive and intervention programs for youth BD and AUD.

Cross sectional study to investigate the relation between Smartphone addiction and temporomandibular disorders among youth population in Egypt. An online- based questionnaire study. A 296 participants who are Egyptians with age between18 and 35 years old without prior neck and upper extremity related diseases, orofacial trauma or surgeries, history of rheumatoid arthritis or congenital musculoskeletal problems. An online- based questionnaire will be sent through different social media platforms, it will include three screens, the first includes the consent form, the second includes the demographic data (year of birth, current educational status, gender and geographic information ), and the third page includes questionnaires .

Digital Game Addiction and Cyberbullying in Adolescents

With the widespread use of technology and internet, digital game addiction and cyberbullying behaviors have increased among adolescents. Effective interventions are needed to prevent these behaviors. The aim of the study is to determine the effect of health education supported by motivational interviewing on digital game addiction and cyberbullying behaviors in adolescents. The research will be conducted with a randomized controlled trial design. The intervention group will receive six sessions of motivational interviewing-supported health education. Within the scope of the intervention, the first two sessions will be health education and the last four sessions will be motivational interviewing. It is planned that each session will be 35 minutes and the sessions will be implemented one week apart.

Testing the Interplay of Gambling, Emotion and Reward

Background The nature and direction of dysfunctional reward processing in gambling disorder remains unclear. We aim to test a novel neurobiological model of gambling addiction, that takes into account inter-individual differences, as well as the multifactorial nature of gaming addiction. Objectives Primary objective: This project will test the hypothesis that there are two opposite brain phenotypes that characterize two distinct subpopulations of gamblers, so-called impulsive vs. emotional, respectively. Secondary objective: This project will also seek to determine whether the brain phenotypes proposed above are capable of predicting gambling behavior outside the laboratory. Study design The primary objective will be tested using a reward task and a facial emotion recognition task performed by participants in an fMRI scanner. The secondary objective will be tested by combining fMRI measures with behavioral measures from everyday life collected via Ecological Momentary Assessment (EMA). Study population This study will focus on individuals with gambling problems, as well healthy subjects with no gambling problems and no psychiatric comorbidities. Outcomes/Endpoints Primary endpoint: We will compare striatum and amygdala reactivity between the three groups of impulsive gamblers, emotional gamblers and healthy subjects. Secondary endpoint: We will assess the correlation between emotional states and gambling behavior in everyday life, based on striatum and amygdala reactivity, using multiple linear regression models.

Smartphones are the technological devices of our age that are constantly evolving and whose use is becoming more widespread day by day. Smartphones, which are preferred by almost everyone for reasons such as being easily portable, providing quick access to transactions, providing ease of use and sometimes as a status indicator, can pose a risk of addiction when used uncontrolled. Since young people are more intertwined with technology and use smartphones more, they are at greater risk of addiction and the problems that addiction can cause. Poor sleep quality is an important problem that can occur with smartphone addiction and negatively affects both daily life and the health of the individual. Smartphone addiction and the problems it causes are an important public health problem that threatens the whole society, especially young people. In solving this problem, it is among the duties of nurses to teach individuals healthy lifestyle behaviors instead of problematic behaviors. A road map is needed to facilitate the behavior change process. Transtheoretical Model (TTM) is widely used today to improve the behavior change process in the individual and to achieve the most effective health behavior change. TTM, which targets interventions appropriate to the individual's stage of change, is used as a guide that facilitates behavioral change. TTM is a model that contributes to change, accelerates it, and supports individuals considering change. In addition to TTM, another method that is more frequently used and contributes to change, especially in addicted individuals, is the "motivational interviewing" method. Motivational interviewing is very effective in gaining positive health behaviors and changing negative health behaviors and aims to reveal the individual's internal motivation. It is thought that the university years, which are an important period in terms of developing and maintaining health-protective and preventive behaviors, will both increase students' health responsibility and protect them from health-threatening behaviors with the healthy lifestyle behaviors acquired during this period. In line with all this information, this study was planned to determine the effect of the Transtheoretical model and motivational interview-based online intervention program on smartphone addiction and sleep quality levels in nursing students who are in the smartphone addiction risk group.

Construction of Early Warning Model for the New Psychoactive Substances Using in Adolescents

Based on the biological-psychology-sociological medicine pattern, this study aims to construction an early warning model of the New Psychoactive Substances (NPS) using for adolescents aged 14-35 years old. This study intends to obtain the data related to the behavioral expression of addiction susceptibility genes, adverse childhood experience, cognition, resistance and the use of NPS in adolescents by questionnaire survey (sample size: 200), and then use logistic regression and machine learning to construct an early warning model.
