Filter by:Research suggests older adults report wide-ranging emotional distress (e.g., symptoms of anxiety, depression) that negatively impacts their physical and mental health, and is associated with a reduction in daily activity. The overarching goal of this proposal is to adapt an existing evidence-based intervention, the Unified Protocol for Transdiagnostic Treatment of Emotional Disorders (UP), to increase activity in older adults by reducing emotional distress. The primary aim of the proposed study is to adapt a 5-session version of the UP for use with older adults reporting emotional distress and reduced engagement in daily activities, and to also develop a self-guided version of this intervention. This aim will be accomplished in two phases. In Phase 1, patient will receive the UP as written via telehealth. At the end of treatment they will provide feedback on the treatment, including any suggested changes as well as provide suggestions for changing the treatment that might allow an individual to successfully complete it on their own. This information will be used to iteratively change the treatment and develop a self-guided version of the treatment. In Phase 2, the study team will compare the therapist-delivered and self-guided version of treatment to see if patients find them acceptable. In this phase, patients will be randomized to receive one of these two treatments.
To evaluate the efficacy of different techniques for the reduction of dental anxiety in pediatric patients. Generally, anxiety amongst paediatric patients is higher as compared to adult patients. So different modalities are used by the dentists in order to reduce the anxiety of such patient to help to make treatment procedures easier and optimal.

This trial studies differences between a mindfulness and a gaming virtual reality (VR) experience as a means for preoperative anxiety management and postoperative pain management among patients after head and neck surgery. Investigators will assess differences in anxiety scores, pain scores, physiologic measures, and subjective patient experiences.
This study evaluates the efficacy of a myofascial intervention as a technique within manual therapy in the treatment of clinical anxiety in adults. Half of the participants will receive a myofascial intervention program, while the other half will receive a sham myofascial intervention.
The purpose of this pilot study is to evaluate the impact of Reining in Anxiety for children with anxiety and their caregivers. A total of up to 80 child/caregiver dyads will be enrolled in the study, anticipating that 40 dyads will complete the 10 week intervention. The intervention will be delivered at Fieldstone Farm Therapeutic Riding Center, which is one of the largest therapeutic riding centers in the US.
An immersive virtual reality (VR) tour of the operating theater before surgery could reduce preoperative anxiety. The aims of this study were to analyze whether a preoperative virtual reality tour shows a reduction in anxiety in children and an increase in parental satisfaction.
In an effort to personalize medical care, novel approaches have been used to categorize sub-populations of patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D). These are based on biological and genetic variables, allowing identification of clusters with significantly different clinical characteristics and risks of complications that may be more amenable to targeted and precise therapeutic interventions. Increasingly, wearable and other digital health technologies have the potential to capture additional and objective information to support personalized medicine but at present underserved populations have largely been excluded from clinical trials incorporating digital health. With this study, the Investigators aim to build on prior work using specially trained community health workers ("Community Scientists") to support engagement with an underserved population and to encourage adherence to using wearables and other digital health technologies. In the US, this is especially imperative for the Hispanic/Latino population, which is at high risk for T2D and associated complications.
This is a pilot randomized waitlist control trial assessing if the feasibility of using a mobile mindfulness app to treat emotional distress and burnout amongst nurses taking care of COVID-19 patients. This trial will help inform the study team if dissemination the intervention to a large number of nurses in a short time period is feasible, and if the intervention has evidence of a clinical impact.
