NCT ID: NCT03465319 Completed - Anesthesia Clinical Trials

Evaluation of the Concentration-prediction for Oxygen and Volatile Anesthetic Agents in the 'Draeger Perseus A500' Anesthesia Machine

Start date: December 15, 2015
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

The anesthesia machine "Draeger Perseus A 500" has an integrated software which calculates the predicted course of the concentration of oxygen and the volatile anesthetics sevoflurane and desflurane for the next 20 minutes. The Goal of this study was to evaluate the accuracy of this prediction under controlled clinical circumstances. Therefore 20 patients undergoing an operation with general anesthesia were included. They were assigned to a sevoflurane- or desflurane-group by lots. The oxygen- and volatile anesthetic influx into the anesthesia machine`s circuit was adjusted following a fixed protocol. The concentration of oxygen and the volatile anesthetic was measured and compared to the predicted values.

NCT ID: NCT03458091 Completed - Anesthesia Clinical Trials

Evaluation of Lung Atelectasis During Apneic Oxygenation Using THRIVE in Adults During Laryngeal Surgery.

A-THRIVE
Start date: January 22, 2018
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Oxygenation with high-flow nasal cannula with 100% oxygen have now been evaluated in a number of studies and the data are convincing. The THRIVE technique is able to oxygenate patients safely and vital parameters has been shown to be stable. But it is of great importance to evaluate this new concept regarding other potential negative physiological aspects such as lung atelectasis and inflammatory stress response before implementing it into clinical practice.

NCT ID: NCT03453294 Completed - Anesthesia Clinical Trials

Effect of THRIVE During Apneic Oxygenation in General Anesthesia on Biomarkers

Bio-THRIVE
Start date: January 22, 2018
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Oxygenation with high-flow nasal cannula with 100% oxygen have now been evaluated in a number of studies and the data are convincing. The THRIVE technique is able to oxygenate patients safely and vital parameters has been shown to be stable. But it is of great importance to evaluate this new concept regarding other potential negative physiological aspects such as biological stress response detected by blood-bourne biomarkers before implementing it into clinical practice.

NCT ID: NCT03453099 Completed - Anesthesia Clinical Trials

MAPD: Modifiable Factors Affecting Propofol Dosing

Start date: April 1, 2018
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The investigators aim to understand the effect of a caffeine intake, sleep habits, anxiety about surgery, alcohol intake and smoking status upon the dose of the anaesthetic drug, propofol, required for anaesthetic induction.

NCT ID: NCT03444480 Completed - Anesthesia Clinical Trials

A Phase Ⅰb Study of Remimazolam Tosylate in Healthy Volunteers

Start date: July 23, 2014
Phase: Phase 1
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the Pharmacokinetics/Pharmacodynamics and safety of Remimazolam Tosylate in healthy volunteers after loading/maintenance dose regimen.

NCT ID: NCT03438240 Completed - Anesthesia Clinical Trials

Dexmedetomidine Versus Fentanyl Plus Bupivacaine for Epidural Analgesia With General Anesthesia for Lumbar Disc Operations

Start date: February 12, 2018
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to compare addition of dexmedetomidine or fentanyl to bupivacaine for epidural analgesia in combination with general anesthesia in elective lumbar spine operations as regard hemodynamic stability, postoperative pain control and adverse effects.

NCT ID: NCT03430908 Completed - Anesthesia Clinical Trials

Blind Gastric Tube Placement: Incidence of Malposition Confirmed by Ultrasonography

Start date: December 22, 2017
Phase:
Study type: Observational

This is a prospective, single-arm cohort, observational study to determine the incidence of gastric tube malposition during blind insertion by an anesthesia provider.

NCT ID: NCT03428256 Completed - Obesity Clinical Trials

Pre-oxygenation Methods in Bariatric Patients

Start date: October 1, 2018
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of the study is to compare effectiveness of different methods of achieving pre-oxygenation in bariatric patients. The investigators intend to compare facemask pre-oxygenation with a high-flow humidified nasal oxygen. The primary outcome measure of interest is time to desaturation to 92% or 18 minutes of apnoea.

NCT ID: NCT03422887 Completed - Pain Clinical Trials

Nalbuphine and Flurbiprofen for Oculoplastic Surgery

Start date: January 18, 2018
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the postoperative pain and discomfort using flurbiprofen axetil or nalbuphine administration after oculoplastic surgery under general anesthesia.

NCT ID: NCT03422497 Completed - Surgery Clinical Trials

The Association of Sex With Guideline-based Perioperative Care in Hip Fracture Surgery

Start date: May 2013
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

The investigators will use multilevel multivariable regression analysis to measure the association of sex with provision of guideline-based perioperative care for hip fracture surgery in Ontario.
