Filter by:This is a phase 2 study whose purpose is to see whether the combination of of pembrolizumab, DPX-Survivac vaccine and low-dose cyclophosphamide has anti-tumor activity in patients with advanced epithelial ovarian, fallopian tube or primary peritoneal cancer. DPX-Survivac is an investigational vaccine. A vaccine is a substance that is often given to stimulate the body's immune system (the structure and processes in the body that protects against harmful substances) to help prevent against certain diseases. DPX-Survivac is a vaccine that may teach the immune system to recognize cancer cells and to kill them. Pembrolizumab is a drug that is approved for the treatment of a certain type of melanoma (a type of skin cancer) and non-small cell lung cancer. Pembrolizumab blocks the function of a protein called programmed cell death receptor-1 (PD-1). PD-1 works by keeping the immune system from destroying cancer cells. Stopping PD-1 from working may help the immune system to fight cancer cells. Cyclophosphamide is chemotherapy drug that is approved for the treatment of various cancers alone and in combination with other drugs.
A phase 1, dose escalation study of evorpacept (ALX148) in patients with advanced solid tumors and lymphoma
The primary purpose of this study is to determine whether Nivolumab will improve disease-free survival compared with placebo.
The main purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of ramucirumab or merestinib or placebo plus cisplatin and gemcitabine in participants with advanced or metastatic biliary tract cancer.
This screening tool will be used to identify significant relations of patients with advanced medical illness or serious hospitalization and family individuals who lost their loved one and who could use professional support in the future. We are interested in enrolling family members or close friends of patients with advanced medical illness as well as family members or close friends who have lost a loved one. Some screening tools to identify family members who might need support do exist, but the investigators are hoping to develop one that is brief and easier for healthcare providers to use. The information learned in this study will help us refine the screening tool. Family member input will be essential in the development of this screening tool.
The purpose of this study is to describe how often advanced cancer patients experience breakthrough pain (BTcP), and to describe how this pain is treated, and how effective these treatments are.
It is assumed that an early palliative care structured by SENS (a systematic, problem-based assessment system) in addition to standard oncology care compared with standard oncology care alone relieves distress in patients with advanced cancer at the end of life. The primary objective of the trial is to determine the effectiveness of early palliative care intervention, structured by SENS (a systematic, problem-based assessment system) in addition to standard oncology care, compared with standard oncology care alone to relieve distress a) in patients with advanced cancer until death, and b) in caregivers. The secondary objectives are to determine whether the introduction of SENS improves quality of life, prolongs overall survival, ameliorates distress of caregivers, reduces health care costs and medical resource utilization (less aggressive treatment in the last weeks of life).
Assess whether therapy with axitinib, a potent angiogenic inhibitor of the tyrosine kinase receptors of VEGF bioavailable by oral administration, is capable of improving PFS in patients with advanced G1-G2 NETs of nonpancreatic origin with progressive disease documented in the 12 months prior to entering the study.
The goal of this clinical research study is to find the highest tolerable dose of the combination of bevacizumab (Avastin) and temsirolimus (Torisel) that can be given with 1 of 3 other study drugs --carboplatin (Paraplatin), paclitaxel (Taxol), or sorafenib (Nexavar). The safety of these drug combinations will also be studied.
The goal of this clinical research study is to find the highest tolerable dose of the combination vorinostat given in combination with either sirolimus, everolimus or temsirolimus that can be given to patients with advanced cancer. The safety of this drug combination will also be studied. The Study Drugs: Vorinostat is designed to prevent or slow down the growth of cancer cells by blocking proteins. Everolimus is designed to stop cells from dividing. This may stop or slow the growth or spread of cancer cells. Temsirolimus is designed to block a protein called mTOR (a protein that is thought to cause cancer cells to grow) inside the cancer cell. This may interfere with the growth or spread of cancer cells or possibly kill them. Sirolimus is designed to block a protein called mTOR inside the cancer cell. This may interfere with the growth or spread of cancer cells or possibly kill the cancer cells. This is an investigational study. Sirolimus is FDA approved and commercially available as an anti-rejection drug for kidney transplant recipients. Everolimus is FDA-approved and commercially available for the treatment of pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor, subependymal giant cell astrocytoma, and renal cell carcinoma. Temsirolimus is FDA approved and commercially available for the treatment of renal cell carcinoma. Vorinostat is FDA approved and commercially available for the treatment of cutaneous T-cell lymphoma. The combination of these drugs is investigational. Up to 249 patients will take part in this study. All will be enrolled at MD Anderson.
