NCT ID: NCT03945266 Completed - Physical Activity Clinical Trials

Healthy Mom Zone: A Gestational Weight Gain Management Intervention

HMZ
Start date: July 8, 2014
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose is to establish feasibility of delivering an individually-tailored, behavioral intervention to manage gestational weight gain [GWG] that adapts to the unique needs and challenges of overweight/obese pregnant women [OW/OBPW] and will utilize control systems engineering to optimize this intervention; in other words, make this intervention manage GWG in OW/OBPW as effectively and efficiently as possible.

NCT ID: NCT03819478 Completed - Obesity Clinical Trials

Utilizing Protein During Weight Loss to Impact Physical Function and Bone

UPLIFT-Bone
Start date: May 3, 2017
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This study is an ancillary study to the Utilizing Protein During Weight Loss to Impact Physical Function (UPLIFT) trial (NCT03074643) to evaluate the effects of diet composition (i.e., amount of protein and carbohydrate) during a 6-month weight loss intervention and 12-months of follow-up on bone phenotypes in obese older adults. Participants will receive either a protein or carbohydrate supplement along with a behavioral weight loss intervention.

NCT ID: NCT03585244 Completed - Weight Change, Body Clinical Trials

Weight Change in PWS Over Six Months

Start date: June 15, 2018
Phase:
Study type: Observational

This is a completely text-messaging based study and all data will be collected via surveys administered on a mobile phone. For this study, we will gather and analyze data on changes in body weight over a 6-month interval in individuals aged 12 and over. This will help us learn more about the normal variation in weight, over time, in the PWS population.

NCT ID: NCT03571893 Completed - Obesity Clinical Trials

Study of an International Commercial Program on Weight Loss and Health Outcomes

Start date: June 19, 2018
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This study is a randomized controlled trial (RCT) of the Weight Watchers (WW) Freestyle ® (Flex® in UK) weight loss program compared to a control group following a do-it-yourself (DIY) approach for 12 months. Participants in the United States, Canada and the UK (n=360 total) will be randomly assigned to either participate in the commercially available WW program in their local community or to follow their own approach for weight loss. This study will examine the impact of the WW program on weight, fitness levels, quality of life, health behaviors and other health outcomes in overweight and obese adults after 3 and 12 months.

NCT ID: NCT03554525 Completed - Obesity Clinical Trials

Weight Regain After Consumption of Food Supplement and Interventional Diet Program

fat-binder
Start date: April 1, 2017
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

Effect of the dietary supplement (FAT-BINDER DAMM) on weight regain after 9 months of control weight program

NCT ID: NCT03459937 Completed - Obesity Clinical Trials

Integration of Yoga for the Treatment of Obesity in Adults

Start date: April 25, 2018
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The focus of this study is to examine the feasibility of integrating Vinyasa yoga into a Standard Behavioral Weight Loss Intervention, to examine whether engagement differs between Vinyasa yoga and a restorative form of Hatha yoga within a Standard Behavioral Weight Loss Intervention, and to use this information to inform an expanded study to directly test the effectiveness of these interventions on weight loss in adults.

NCT ID: NCT03422380 Completed - Obesity Clinical Trials

Energy Expenditure and Weight Loss Maintenance

Start date: October 2009
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

Obesity is reaching epidemic proportions and threatens both health and quality of life of people around the world. While many individuals succeed at short term weight loss, weight loss maintenance is the greatest barrier to successful treatment of obesity. High levels of physical activity are consistently associated with success in weight loss maintenance. The major goal of this proposal is to understand how and why high levels of physical activity are critical for long term maintenance of weight loss. This project takes advantage of the National Weight Control Registry (NWCR), which follows over 6000 individuals who have maintained a weight loss of ≥30 pounds for ≥1 year. Understanding how individuals successful at weight loss maintenance achieve energy balance will provide important insight into strategies to help more people sustain a weight loss.

NCT ID: NCT03235440 Completed - Quality of Life Clinical Trials

Feasibility of the Camp Power Up Program on Children's Body Weight and Quality of Life

CampPowerUp
Start date: June 19, 2017
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This study will evaluate the effects of a one week weight management summer camp on children's weight, quality of life, mood and feelings, self-esteem, weight management efficacy, enjoyment of physical activity, and body image.

NCT ID: NCT03204396 Completed - Smoking Cessation Clinical Trials

Smoking Cessation Facilitated by Glucagon-like Peptide-1 (GLP-1) Analogues

SKIP
Start date: June 26, 2017
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

Cigarette smoking is the leading preventable cause of premature death worldwide. However smoking is a very difficult addiction to break whereby main reasons for not quitting or relapsing after cessation are the nicotine withdrawal syndrome and post-cessational weight gain. GLP-1 analogues are well known to stimulate insulin secretion and to reduce energy intake and therefore body weight. Recent findings from animal and human studies suggest a role of GLP-1 in the pathophysiology of addiction. The putative role of GLP-1 analogues in nicotine reward regulation combined with its weight reducing effects might be of major interest in view of novel pharmacotherapeutic options for smoking cessation. - Substudy "fMRI": This substudy is to evaluate effects of Dulaglutide treatment on functional neuronal changes in smokers who want to quit smoking. - Substudy "Energy": This substudy is to investigate the effect of Dulaglutide (Trulicity®) on REE and further parameters associated with energy metabolism (bodycomposition, haemodynamic parameters and catecholamine action) in a subset of patients recruited for the main trial.

NCT ID: NCT03156660 Completed - Smoking Cessation Clinical Trials

Efficacy of Two Novel Behavioral Post-cessation Weight Gain Interventions

Start date: November 30, 2017
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The study aims to randomize 400 participants to 1 of 3 arms: a) a weight stability intervention prior to smoking cessation (Group 1); b) a weight loss intervention prior to smoking cessation (Group 2); or c) a self-guided weight management prior to cessation (Group 3) and to determine the efficacy of the interventions on preventing weight gain at 12 month follow-up. All 3 conditions receive a highly efficacious behavioral smoking cessation program and 6 months of varenicline pharmacotherapy (ChantixTM), the most efficacious medication for smoking cessation.
