Filter by:The purpose of this study is to assess the safety and the immediate effect of the VascuActive device on patients with peripheral vascular disease and limb ischemia.
Reduced aortic stiffness is a powerful way to predict the outcome of cardiovascular (CV) disease. There are several non invasive methods for its estimation, most of which are based on the measurement of speed of the arterial pulse wave. (The stiffer the artery, the faster the pulse wave travels.) They rely on detecting the arterial pulse with 2 sensors placed on the skin a known distance apart and measuring the time for the pulse to travel between them. However all current methods require skilled operators and are of limited accuracy. Thus, there is a need for an easy to use and reliable device to measure pulse speed. The aim of this project is to develop a non contact device to detect the aortic pulse as it moves into the small arteries following the ribs, using the principle of thermal imaging, by means of a high sensitivity infra red camera, directed towards the subjects back. The investigators plan to validate the device and conduct a small feasibility study in patients undergoing elective angiography, by simultaneously measuring pulse speed using established methods. These are Doppler ultrasound (non-invasive) and direct intra-arterial measurement (the gold standard).
Livedo vasculitis is disease with recurrent courses of painful foot or ankle ulcerations, followed by healed white scars. The actual mechanism of its pathophysiology is not yet clear. It has been reported to be associated with some gene mutations, for example, factor V Leiden gene. This study is aimed to find the possible relation of these gene mutations in Taiwanese patients.
The purpose of this study is to determine the safety of PLX-PAD, Intra-muscular injections for the treatment of CLI patients.
The study is designed to determine the long term, post trial effects of the two interventions studied in ADVANCE (routine blood pressure lowering with perindopril-indapamide as compared with placebo and intensive gliclazide-MR based glucose control as compared to standard guideline based glucose control) in individuals with type 2 diabetes at high risk of cardiovascular events. The long term, post randomization effects of the two study interventions will be investigated separately as they were for the main trial. This study will clarify and quantify the long-term, post trial (often referred to as legacy) effects of these two interventions in a broader population of patients with type 2 diabetes from high and low to middle income countries, and in the setting of comprehensive cardiovascular risk factor treatment. With the ADVANCE trial infrastructure and surveillance system already in place, the implementation of extended follow-up will be feasible. The conclusions of this follow up study will have profound clinical implications for the care of patients with type 2 diabetes around the world.
This is a randomized clinical trial, double-blind, placebo controlled, to verify if simvastatin can improve erectile dysfunction in men with endothelial dysfunction, without any cardiac disease.It is hypothesized that the simvastatin can improve the endothelial function, improving the nitric oxide liberation in corpora cavernosa of the penis, resulting in improvement of erection.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of multi-detector computed tomography using 320 detectors for identifying the combination of coronary artery stenosis ≥ 50% and a corresponding myocardium perfusion defect in a patient with suspected coronary artery disease compared with conventional coronary angiography and single photon emission computed tomography myocardium perfusion imaging.
This is a prospective, multicenter, non-randomized, single arm, pivotal trial. The main objective of this study is to demonstrate the safety and effectiveness of the IDev SUPERA® Nitinol Stent System in treating subjects with obstructive superficial femoral artery (SFA) disease. The primary endpoint will be the primary patency of the SFA evaluated at 12 months. The outcome will be compared to a performance goal based on clinical trials of percutaneous transvenous angioplasty (PTA) alone.
