Filter by:The study will be designed as a prospective clinical trial. Patients scheduled for lower limb arterial bypass surgery will be randomly allocated for treatment with spinal anesthesia associated with spontaneous ventilation (nasal cannula with supplemental oxygen - Group 1) or treatment with general anesthesia under controlled mechanical ventilation (tidal volume 6 to 8 ml / kg of the predicted body weight and PEEP of 5 cmH2O - Group 2).
This study will evaluate the safety, efficacy, pharmacokinetics, and pharmacodynamics of ravulizumab administered by intravenous infusion to pediatric participants, from 1 month to < 18 years of age, with HSCT-TMA. The treatment period is 26 weeks, followed by a 26-week off-treatment follow-up period.
Background: Diabetes, and especially diabetic kidney disease is associated with the development of cardiovascular disease such as calcification in the coronary arteries and heart failure. Sleep apnea is frequent among patients with diabetes and diabetic kidney disease and sleep apnea itself is a solitary risk factor in the development of cardiovascular disease. Nonetheless, sleep apnea is underdiagnosed in diabetes patients because of a discrepancy between sleep apnea severity and actual oxygen deficiency symptoms which makes the diagnosis difficult. For that reason, many diabetics have undiagnosed sleep apnea together with cardiovascular disease. Early discovery of sleep apnea among high risk diabetic patients may therefore be considered crucial before cardiovascular complications develop. For this reason, sleep apnea screening of high-risk diabetics can possibly improve early diagnostics of cardiovascular disease. Aim: This study will seek to establish the association between obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and coronary calcification and heart failure in patients with diabetic kidney disease. The basic hypothesis of the study is that patients with diabetic kidney disease and concurrent OSA have a higher prevalence and severity of coronary calcification and heart failure compared to patients without OSA. Methods: Diabetic adult patients with scheduled check-ups at Steno Diabetes Center Aarhus, or Department of Renal Medicine on Aarhus University Hospital will be included in the study. Firstly, all included patients are screened for sleep apnea with the devices SomnoTouch® and ApneaLink®. Based on the sleep apnea determination; 40 patients with moderate-severe sleep apnea are compared with 40 patients without sleep apnea. In both groups, the patients are examined for calcification in the coronary vessels using a CT-scan while the function of the heart is examined by ultrasound (echocardiography). The stiffness of aorta is measured and performed using radial artery tonometry (SphygmoCor®). Furthermore, range of blood- and urine samples will be performed The perspectives are that patients with diabetes should be regularly evaluated for sleep apnea and that patients with moderate/severe sleep apnea should undergo further examination for cardiovascular disease even though the patients don't display any symptoms of either cardiovascular disease or sleep apnea.
In this project, the investigators seek to understand the role of endothelial cells in Cystic Fibrosis (CF) lung disease. This objective will be achieved by conducting a cross sectional clinical study to define the morphology of the pulmonary circulation across a range of lung function coupled with a mechanistic study of the effect of dysfunctional cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) in endothelial cells on vasculogenesis, epithelial morphogenesis and epithelial CFTR function. Toward that end, the investigators propose the following hypotheses; (a). Loss of pulmonary small blood vessels begins early in the CF lung and worsens with disease progression, (b).VEGFR2-CFTR interactions happen at the plasma membrane of endothelial cells and is likely to be involved in transendothelial ion transport (c) impaired VEGFR2-CFTR interactions on the endothelial cells will have a profound effect on vasculogenesis, epithelial morphogenesis and ion transport. The first hypotheses will be tested through this clinical study. The following 2 hypotheses will be tested through laboratory studies that do not involve human subjects.
The purpose of this registry is to collect safety and performance data on all commercially available Terumo Aortic knitted and woven grafts, and cardiovascular patches in standard clinical practice. Data will be collected both retrospectively and prospectively.
This study will evaluate the efficacy, safety, pharmacokinetics, and pharmacodynamics of ravulizumab in adult and adolescent participants with hematopoietic stem cell transplant-associated thrombotic microangiopathy (HSCT-TMA). In Stage 1, an open-label, single-arm period, the dosing regimen will be confirmed. In Stage 2, participants will be randomized to receive either blinded ravulizumab plus best supportive care or matching placebo plus best supportive care. The treatment period is 26 weeks (open-label for Stage 1, and randomized, double-blind, and placebo-controlled for Stage 2) followed by a 26-week follow-up period.
The objective of this study is to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of renal denervation using DENEX System in patients with hypertension without antihypertensive medication, compared with the sham group.
The purpose of this study is to assess change in patient's symptoms before and after Endovenous Microwave Ablation (EMA) as treatment for varicose veins. At the same time, it is to evaluate the effectiveness of EMA and its treatment outcomes over a period of 1 year.
This study will evaluate real-world performance of the CorPath GRX System in peripheral vascular interventions.
This study will perform a prospective, longitudinal analysis of clinical and imaging findings from normal controls and subjects with retinal vascular disease to better define the diagnostic imaging criteria that signify change in disease stage. This includes disease progression in early stages of disease or disease regression with appropriate standard-of-care treatment.
