Filter by:The lack of serum markers that can be used to identify the levels of steatosis in obese subjects, or that can indicate a rapid progression of the metabolic disease, in which it is very often difficult to perform analyzes with imaging techniques, limits the current evolution from a generalized medicine to a personalized medicine. With the project proposal the aim is to identify serum markers for the characterization of steatosis in subjects affected by genetic obesity, which will most likely also be used in metabolic obesity.
Purpose and significance: To explore the clinical efficacy and safety of Chiglitazar sodium in polycystic ovary syndrome with type 2 diabetes Methods: From October 2022 to September 2024, a total of 142 PCOS with T2DM patients admitted to Department of Endocrinology and Metabolism at the Affiliated Hospital of Nantong University were recruited. Participants are randomized in a ratio of 1:1 into two treatment groups of 71 participants: ① control group;②experimental group. After randomization, the control group was treated with lifestyle intervention+ metformin+ orlistat (obese patients)+ pioglitazone, and the patients in the experimental group were treated with lifestyle intervention+ metformin+ orlistat (obese patients)+ Chiglitazar (32mg QD) until the end of follow-up. The treatment and follow-up period totaled 3 months. Observe the body weight, menstrual cycle and blood glucose control and other related indicators. Type of study: randomized controlled, prospective, intervention study.
The purpose of the study is the investigation of the effect of fat supplement on gastric emptying rate and the appearance of symptoms of Dumping Syndrome in patients who have undergone gastrointestinal- duodenal surgery. Patients who have undergone bariatric surgery have been examined for the presence of the Dumping syndrome, with glucose measurements, the Sigstad's questionnaire and questionnaire of Arts. Patients diagnosed positive, reiterated the examination process in a second meeting consuming an extra fat supplement. The data obtained on the different appointments were compared between the two groups in a cross over design.
The aim of this study is to analyze the effects of strictly defined physiotherapy in patients temporomandibular dysfunction (TMD) and hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (hEDS). Patients will be clinically examined before starting physiotherapy and fill in the questionnaires. Subsequently, it will be followed up whether changes occur as a result of physiotherapy. This study is a pilot study and is intended to be hypothesis generating in nature. Based on the resulting hypothesis, it will be verified by a study with a control group.
The aim of the study to investigate effect of laser acupuncture on constipation predominant irritable bowel syndrome in female patients
Subclinical inflammation plays a critical role in all stages of the atherosclerotic process, from the initiation of the fatty streaks to the development of plaque instability and rupture, causing myocardial ischemia and acute coronary syndromes (ACS). A few studies have suggested that the autonomic nervous system (ANS) and the inflammatory response are intimately linked. Accordingly, a relation between impaired cardiac autonomic tone and increased markers of inflammation has been reported in healthy subjects as well as in patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus, chronic coronary syndrome or decompensated heart failure. To get insight in the controversial relationship between cardiac autonomic dysfunction and inflammation in patients with ACS both with and without obstructive CAD and assess the precise mechanisms and molecular pathways by which these two pathophysiological conditions mutually influence each other, to characterize their prognostic implications and identify possible targets for novel therapeutic strategies.
Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) occurs in 5% to 10% of all women of reproductive age and 50% of women who present with sub-fertility due to anovulatory infertility . Clear diagnostic criteria for this condition were identified at the consensus meeting of the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology and the American Society for Reproductive Medicine .
The present pilot study investigates the feasibility of a prospective larger confirmatory study on the efficacy of Dr. Hauschka Med Ice Plant Intensive Cream for the prevention of hand-foot syndrome in patients with breast carcinoma undergoing therapy with doxorubicin and / or docetaxel.
Since subjects with Down Syndrome (DS) have different and variable levels of intellectual deficit, in approaching the patient with DS and before evaluating the different therapeutic strategies and carrying out a dental and orthodontic treatment, an initial analysis would be useful the patient's level of cooperation. The hypothesis underlying the study is the possibility of predicting the degree of success of dental and orthodontic treatment in the patient with Down's Syndrome by completing an evaluation form by the clinician. The general objective of the study is to test the effectiveness of the module in assessing and quantifying the degree of patient collaboration. This form is filled in entirely during the first visit and updated in subsequent sessions in conjunction with the different operational phases. Based on the score obtained by the patient, the clinician can hypothesize the degree of cooperation during the operative sessions and compliance with the indications provided. Therefore, the evaluation of the score obtained will guide the clinician in choosing the type of therapy that will have the least risk of failure because this will be chosen having evaluated not only the dental and/or orthodontic therapeutic needs, but also the real ability of the patient to collaborate.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate that milvexian is superior to placebo, in addition to standard-of-care, in reducing the risk of major adverse cardiovascular event (MACE) (the composite of cardiovascular [CV] death, myocardial infarction [MI], and ischemic stroke).
