Filter by:The main aim of the study is to learn if soticlestat, when given as an add-on therapy, reduces the number of seizures in children and adults with Dravet Syndrome (DS) or Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome (LGS). Participants will receive their standard anti-seizure therapy, plus tablets of soticlestat. There will be scheduled visits and follow-up phone calls throughout the study.
A total of 60 Individuals with Acute coronary Syndrome who underwent angioplasty with or without stent will be recruited by purposive sampling method in a randomized double-blinded sham controlled trial. Recruited participants will be divided into two group of equal size (n = 30): Sham control group and experimental group by block randomization. The experimental group will subject to Class IV laser therapy along with the standard treatment regime at three spot(s) over the pericardium (left parasternal 2nd, 3rd intercostal space and apex) for a duration of 60 seconds at each point.; immediately after the angioplasty and subsequent two days. Left ventricular ejection fraction will be assessed at base line and after 3 days post-interventions. Cardiac biomarker (Troponin I) will be assessed at base line, peak hours (at 10 hour after revascularization) and on third day post intervention. Function outcomes will be assessed at baseline and at one month follow up.
Virtual reality creates interactive, multimodal sensory stimuli that have demonstrated considerable success in reducing pain. Much research so far has focused on VR's ability to shift patients' attention away from pain; however, these methods provide only transient relief through means of distraction and therefore do not offer long-term analgesic remediation. An alternative and promising approach is to utilize VR as an embodied simulation technique, where virtual body illusions are employed as tools to improve body perception and produce potentially more enduring analgesia. Disturbances in body perception (i.e., alterations in the way the body is perceived) are increasingly acknowledged as a pertinent feature of chronic pain, and include aberrations in perceived shape, size, or color that differ from objective assessment. The degree of body perception distortion positively correlates with pain, and prior interventions have evinced that treatments aimed at reducing body perception distortions correspondingly ameliorate pain. Several recent experimental research studies have demonstrated the analgesic efficacy of body illusions in a range of pain conditions. Immersive VR multisensory feedback training signifies a promising new avenue for the potential treatment of chronic pain by supporting the design of targeted virtual environments to alter (distorted) body perceptions. Various illusions have been described to alter pain perception; however, they. Have not been directly compared to each other. The multimodal stimulus control of VR enables physical-to-virtual body transfer illusions, resulting in the feeling that the virtual body is one's own. These virtual body illusions can modulate body perception with ease and could therefore be used to alter the perceived properties of pain, consequently utilizing a virtual avatar to specifically shape interactive processing between central and peripheral mechanisms.
The primary endpoint is to determine if ECP induces a decrease in % of tumor cells after treatment. 15 patients with Sezary Syndrome will receive ECP weekly x4, then bi-weekly for 5 months. Each patient will donate 5 samples to determine immune responses in peripheral blood. Additional clinical assessments will be a modified skin weighted assessment and flow cytometry at baseline and months 3 and 6. A CT scan will be obtained at baseline and only repeated if pathology is present at baseline. The tumor microenvironment will be studied by comparing transcriptomics of the blood samples before, 1 day after first ECP treatment, cycle 1, 1, 3 and 6 months after ECP treatment by scRNAseq (5 samples total per patient ).
IBS is a highly prevalent bowel disorder, characterized by recurrent abdominal pain during bowel movements or a change in bowel habits. Typically, IBS patients experience constipation, diarrhoea or a mix of constipation and diarrhoea, as well as symptoms of abdominal bloating or distension. The chronic and bothersome nature of IBS symptoms negatively affects the quality of life of many patients. Because there are currently limited medical treatment options for IBS, it is important to study new treatments. IBS can (in part) be caused by an 'imbalance' of the bacteria residing in the intestinal tract. For instance, there may be a lower proportion of specific bacteria that are generally considered beneficial for a persons health. The consumption of non-digestible food ingredients, such as GOS, may stimulate the growth of these beneficial bacteria. GOS is a type of 'prebiotic', which is known to support health and wellbeing of consumers. By restoring the bacterial balance of the intestinal tract, the symptoms of IBS may be reduced after consumption of GOS. The health effects of the study product (a specific GOS) used in current study was previously investigated in a small group of patients with IBS. Use of the study product indicated a reduction in the patients' symptoms, improvement in the patients' quality of life, and changes in patients' gut bacteria. It is therefore hypothesized that GOS / a specific GOS may reduce the symptom severity of patients with IBS. This study further evaluates how GOS may improve symptoms of IBS.
The study aims to compare the endothelial cell count in patients with pseudoexfoliation syndrome to the the endothelial cell count in normal patients above the age of 50.
The aim of the present study is to compare the effects of biopsychosocial and conventional approach on symptom severity, pain parameters (pain intensity and pain cognitions), disability, psychological distress and quality of life in patients who are suffering from bladder pain syndrome/interstitial cystitis. The study is designed as a randomized clinical trial including two parallel arms. Individuals who meet the inclusion criteria and agree to participate will be randomly assigned into one of the two research arms: biopsychosocial approach group or conventional approach group. A biopsychosocial approach, which is a holistic approach that includes pain neuroscience education, relaxation training and cognitive exercises, will be applied to the patients in the first research arm for the treatment of chronic pain symptoms. For the patients in the second research arm, a conventional approach including pelvic floor stretching exercises and Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) will be applied for the treatment of chronic pain complaints. Treatments will be lasted for a total of six weeks, with two sessions per week. Participants will be evaluated at the baseline (before treatments) and at the end of the 6th week (after treatments). In the evaluations, information about the demographic and physical characteristics, medical and surgical background, medications and lifestyle characteristics (water, tea, coffee, alcohol, cigarette consumption, the presence constipation and physical activity level) of the individuals will be recorded. For primary or secondary outcome measures, Interstitial Cystitis Symptom and Problem Index, Visual Analog Scale, Pain Catastrophizing Scale, Pain Self-Efficacy Questionnaire, 3-day voiding diary, Pain Disability Index, Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale, and Short Form-36 will be used. The present study is planned to be carried out with a total of 60 individuals, 30 for each study group based on a sample size analysis. After reaching required sample for the present study, in patients with bladder pain syndrome/interstitial cystitis, the effects of biopsychosocial and conventional approach on symptom and problem severity, pain parameters, disability, psychological status and quality of life will be analyzed using (2*2) two-way ANOVA.

A Phase 2, Single-Arm, Open-Label Study to Evaluate the Safety and Efficacy of ARD-101 in Patients with Prader-Willi Syndrome
The aim of this study is to examine the activity participation levels of Down syndrome(DS) children and the restrictive or supportive factors affecting their participation levels and to investigate their effects on quality of life. 35 children diagnosed with DS by a pediatric neurologist and 35 typically developing children are planned to be included in this study. Sociodemographic data of typically developing and DS children who agreed to participate in the study and their families will be questioned. Activity (Gross Motor Function Measurement-GMFM-88) , participation and the effect of the environment on participation (Participation and Environment Measure for Children and Youth-PEM-CY ), reflection of motor development levels to functions in daily living activities (Pediatric Evaluation of Disability Inventory- PEDI) , quality of life(Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory- PedsQL) and familial impact (Impact on Family Scale-IPFAM) will be evaluated. Evaluation methods to be used in our study will be applied one-on-one with children and face-to-face interviews with their parents. Our study is important in that there is little evidence on participation studies in children and that changing medical paradigms emphasize the quality of life of children. In addition, the PEM-CY the investigators will use in the study will make the study more valuable as it examines the effect of the environment on participation and evaluates participation in different environments.
