Depression-Reduction by Accelerated Personalized NeuroModulation and Its Effects on Sleep

Advances in repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) protocols with intermittent theta-burst stimulation (iTBS) have significantly decreased the duration for one single session and thereby enabled accelerated treatment plans with multiple sessions per day, potentially reducing the total treatment duration. This randomized, placebo-controlled study investigates the effects of accelerated iTBS treatment with connectivity-informed neuronavigation on symptom severity, sleep, interoception, and cognitive control in patients with major depressive disorder and with or without comorbid borderline personality disorder using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

Defining and Treating a New Pediatric Asthma Endotype: Depression-related Asthma Mediated by the Cholinergic Pathway

Depression is seen more often in people with asthma, and may lead to increased development and severity of asthma. This study will investigate whether children with depression and asthma have less allergic disease and less inflammation than children with asthma who do not have symptoms of depression. The study will also investigate whether the lungs of children with depression and asthma respond to an anticholinergic inhaler called ipratropium more than the lungs of non-depressed asthmatic children.

Randomized Control Trial on Implementation Strategies for Task-Shifting Depression Care in Vietnam

The study is a Hybrid Implementation-Effectiveness study that will primarily test the implementation strategies on provider adoption and implementation quality in three Vietnam provinces. Secondarily, the effectiveness of the multicomponent collaborative care model for depression intervention on patient outcomes will be tested. A cluster randomized control trial design, with a mixed-methods approach, will be used to assess the effectiveness of the three implementation strategies on both organizational and provider implementation outcomes and patient effectiveness outcomes.

Prenatal depression is an important risk factor of postpartum depression. Low-dose ketamine has been used for depression treatment. As a stereoisomer of ketamine, s-ketamine has similar effects to ketamine in anti-depression. We speculate that, for pregnant women with prenatal depression, low-dose s-ketamine infusion after childbirth may reduce the incidence of postpartum depression.

Patient Outcomes Reporting for Timely Assessments of Life With Depression: PORTAL-Depression

Currently, very little research exists on whether patient portals could be used to integrate patient-reported outcome (PRO) measurement into the electronic health record (EHR) and clinical practice, even though 87% of ambulatory care practices have EHRs and 88% of U.S. adults have access to the internet. To date, no randomized controlled trial has examined whether patient portals can be used to collect PRO measures. The goal of this study is to implement the integration of a computerized adaptive test (CAT) for patient-reported outcome (PRO) measurement of depression symptoms into an electronic health record (EHR) and evaluate the effectiveness of collecting CAT PROs via an EHR patient portal in two randomized controlled trials. This study will advance the science of implementation of patient-centered outcomes research into clinical practice, as well as the evidence for high quality, accessible care.
