This classification, called the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health ( ICF), constitutes a common language and perspective for the definition of health and health-related conditions. This study aimed to evaluate the body structure function, activity and participation limitations of adult immunodeficiency patients within the scope of ICF and to compare body structure function, activity and participation limitations and compare with healthy people.

Drug Compliance and Affecting Factors in Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis

The goal of this observational study is to learn about the drug compliance of patients with juvenile idiopathic arthritis and, to figure our factors that affect the compliance. The main questions it aims to answer are: - Medication use and compliance in children with chronic diseases is an important problem, but do patients with JIA really use their medications in harmony? - Does the level of adherence to medications affect the quality of life of patients with JIA? Participants will be asked to fill the demographic form which includes personal information and nutritional habbits, Morisky Drug Compliance Scale - 8 and the pediatric quality of life inventory forms, with attending researcher Yesfa Sebnem Ozbay, M.D. This study is not an interventional study.

Auricular Acupressure Relieves Constipation for Patients With Heart Failure in Hospital

This study aimed to investigate the effect of auricular acupressure (AA) to relieve constipation symptoms and improve quality of life in patients hospitalized for their heart failure. A total of 72 participants were randomly assigned and 68 (33 in the AA group and 35 in the control group) completed the study. Outcomes were measured by the Bristolv Stool Form Scale, Constipation Assessment Scale, Patient Assessment of Constipation Symptoms, Visual Scale Analog, Beck Anxiety Inventory and Beck Depression Inventory at baseline, Weeks 1 and 2, as well as Constitution in Chinese Medicine Questionnaire and Patient Assessment of Constipation Quality of Life at baseline and Week 2.

The Effects of Virtual Reality Based Exercises in Patients With Adhesive Capsulitis

Musculoskeletal disorders such as adhesive capsulitis (AC) affect tissues such as muscles, bones, joints, tendons and ligaments and are the second most disabling condition worldwide. Musculoskeletal Systemic disorders are typically characterized by pain, limitations in joint range of motion or functional ability. Existing studies have shown that Virtual Reality (VR) is beneficial in pain management for example; pain relief during dressing changes in burn patients. VR can also reduce anxiety, distract from the fear of pain, and reduce stress. It can distract the patients who are afraid of moving due to pain and enable them to move freely. In this study, AC patients will be treated with VR application. Patients pain levels, upper extremity range of motion, functional activity levels and quality of life levels will be evaluated. A total of 36 patients will be included in the study. This observational randomized controlled study will contribute to the literature by investigating the effects of VR based exercises in individuals with AC.

Breathe Easier II: A Dyad-based Multiple Behavior Intervention

This pilot randomized control trial (RCT) will test a 12-week, multiple behavior intervention physical activity and stress management for survivors with early stage lung cancer (stages I-III) and their family members (1 survivor + 1 family member or friend = 1 dyad). The long-term goal of this research is to improve health outcomes for survivors of lung cancer and their family members. The goals of the intervention, Breathe Easier, are symptom reduction (less breathlessness, less fatigue, less stress) and change in multiple behaviors (increase in stress management and increase in physical activity, and decrease tobacco use - if appropriate). Our aim is: To conduct a 6-month, two-group, pilot randomized control trial intervention study with a pre- and post-test study design to estimate preliminary intervention effects on (a) reduction of symptoms (breathlessness, fatigue, and stress) in survivors of non small cell lung cancer (stages I-III) and family members or friends; (b) increase in physical activity behaviors immediately following the intervention and at 3-months; (c) increase in stress management strategies immediately following the intervention and at 3-months; (d) reduction in smoking behavior among participants who smoke tobacco products at study entry immediately following the intervention at 3-months.

The Singapore Art-Health Study

The goal of the Singapore Art-Health RCT is to examine the effect of a standardized 12-week museum -based participatory art program on health condition, well-being, and quality of life in older community dweller, one that adheres to the Montreal Art-Health framework with culturally specific modifications that are fitting to the local Singaporean context. Participants will be randomized into an intervention group of a passive control group. Participants in the intervention group will be invited to participate in the 12-week Singapore Art-Health Intervention held at the National Gallery Singapore. All participants will be invited to complete four online psychometric assessments. Participants in the intervention group will be invited to completed an additional post-intervention survey and a feasibility focus group.

The Long-term Effect on Oral Health Using a Powered Toothbrush in Individuals With Mild Cognitive Impairment

For this study, 213 individuals with Mild Cognitive Impairment were recruited. The study period ran from June 2018 to October 2021. The procedure involved a combined screening and baseline examination, including oral, medical, cognitive, and quality-of-life examinations. Re-examinations followed this at 6, 12, and 24 months. The examinations were performed at a university research clinic, and all participants received their usual medical and dental care during the study. At baseline, each participant received a powered toothbrush. Participants were carefully instructed on how to operate the powered toothbrush and were asked to brush for at least two minutes in the morning and evening. No restrictions were given against the use of other oral care products. Compliance with the powered toothbrush was followed by a participant survey conducted at each examination.. Facilitating and improving life by introducing a powered toothbrush as part of oral hygiene may benefit individuals with MCI. This study aimed to investigate whether the use of a powered toothbrush could maintain or improve oral health by reducing dental plaque (PI), bleeding on probing (BOP), and periodontal pocket depth (PPD)≥4mm in a group of individuals with MCI for an observation period of 24 months. Furthermore, to study how oral health changes affect QoL aspects.
