This project will to evaluate whether a proactive social robot (ElliQ) has an impact on reducing social isolation and loneliness in older adults who are living alone, while also promoting independence and aging in place. To achieve this, the following research questions will be investigated: 1. How does the use of ElliQ impact the following outcomes in older adults: - Loneliness and social isolation; - Accessibility to and use of technology; - Quality of life, mood, and overall well-being; and - Caregiver experience? 2. Do particular characteristics of the older adult population influence these impacts?

Turkish Version of the Glaucoma Quality of Life-15 Questionnaire

Glaucoma is a disease with irreversible loss of visual field and optic neuropathy and is the most important cause of irreversible vision loss after cataract in the world. Although clinical evaluations reveal the level of glaucoma quantitatively, it is necessary to evaluate the impact of this pathology on daily functions and quality of life with a holistic perspective and to provide appropriate advice to patients according to the information obtained. Glaucoma Quality of Life -15 Questionnaire (GQoL-15) was developed by Nelson et al. in 2003 to evaluate the quality of life of glaucoma patients. The aim of this study is to translate GQoL-15 into Turkish and evaluate its test-retest reliability for Turkish-speaking population.

Posttraumatic Stress Disorder and Quality of Life of Avalanche Survivors From 2014 to 2018, Based on the French North Alpine Avalanche Register

The aim of this study is to identify if an avalanche accident has a psychological impact on avalanche victims. The investigators hypothesize that being exposed to an avalanche could generate enough stress to develop posttraumatic stress symptoms or even more, an authentic posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Additionally, the investigators think that such symptoms might lead to physical and psychological distress in daily life. Lastly, the investigators suppose that a serious traumatism, a complete and/or prolonged burial, the death of a family member or a closed friend could be a potential risk factors to develop PTSD symptoms in avalanche victims. To evaluate post traumatic stress symptoms and the quality of life of avalanche survivors, the investigators use the Impact of Event Scale - Revised and the Short Form 12. These two scales are included in a standardized questionnaire, which is submitted to avalanche victims during a phone call.

Pressure Assessment to Improve Outcomes After TAVR: a Registry

At the Malcom Randall Veterans Affairs Medical Center (MRVAMC), invasive cardiac pressures are routinely recorded after transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) procedures. Our research has disclosed that patients with abnormal hemodynamics (narrow aortic to ventricular end-diastolic pressure difference, indexed to heart rate) suffer from high long-term mortality, compared with patients with normal hemodynamics.This hemodynamic value can be referred to as the aortoventricular index (AVi). Hypertension and diastolic dysfunction are highly co-morbid conditions among these patients. The selective aldosterone receptor antagonist eplerenone (Inspra) is approved for use in the treatment of hypertension. Research also supports that eplerenone may be able to improve diastolic function. This prospective study is interested in determining 1) the tolerability of eplerenone, and 2) feasibility of administering the Kansas City Cardiomyopathy Questionnaire (KCCQ-12) among subject with abnormal cardiac hemodynamics after TAVR. This study will set the stage for a pilot randomized trial to evaluate eplerenone versus placebo among patients with abnormal hemodynamics after TAVR.
