Filter by:The pilot study will test the feasibility of a 16-week sleep extension intervention, in adults with obesity, to increase nighttime sleep duration, as well as reduce daytime sleepiness and sleep-related disturbance. The study will also examine changes in weight, eating behaviors, wellbeing, and blood pressure across the 16-week intervention .
The purpose of this study is to test whether an individual coaching program called Social Engage Coaching (or 'Engage Coaching' for short) helps adults age 60 and older feel more connected to other people in ways that matter to them. Procedures include participating in a Social Engage Coaching program, research assessments with surveys, and assessments completed on a cell phone. Engage Coaching involves individual sessions with a trained Engage Coach (up to 10 sessions) that are designed to help participants improve social relationships and well-being. All subjects will receive the scheduled baseline and follow-up interviews by the research team. These interviews will be conducted at study start, mid-way through the program at 8 weeks and after completing the program at 16 weeks. Interviews will be via Zoom/phone as well as surveys done online.
Due to advances in medical technology and accessible health services, the prognosis of diseases has improved and the need for care has increased, and primary caregivers have experienced the increased burden of caring for family members for a long time. Because the patient is primarily responsible for continuing patient care in palliative care units and then at home, and especially because they have problems in psychological, social and financial support, caregivers within the family are considered as second-degree patients or occult patients. Studies have shown that caregivers have a significant burden of care, therefore they experience serious depression, anxiety and physical problems, isolate themselves from society, and their quality of life decreases significantly. In recent years, the use of virtual reality, which shows itself in different application areas in the field of health as a safe and useful system, has become widespread. Considering the use of virtual reality in the field of health; It is seen that it is mostly preferred for pain management, physical condition improvement, blood collection, burn treatment, and psychological disorder.
The link between Lyme neuroborreliosis (NBL) and persistent symptoms is debated in the medical world. Some report a frequency of post NBL symptoms similar to the general population, and others define a specific entity, the PTLDS (Post Treatment Lyme Disease Symptoms). In France, few studies have evaluated the persistent symptoms and the impact on the quality of life of patients after treatment for NBL.
Among bladder cancer, the majority of them (70%) are non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC). The survival time is even longer in NMIBC. Patients with NMIBC receive surgery or transurethral resection of bladder tumor (TURBT). However, patients with NMIBC need to receive a three-month repeatedly intrusive cystoscope from diagnosis for the first year. Furthermore, following each cystoscope, patients will receive 3 to 6 times bladder BCG (Bacille Calmette Guérin) or chemotherapy. These repeatedly intrusive cystoscopes, TURBT, and intensive bladder treatments might cause impacts on patients' life. The investigator aims to (1) construct a Multi-domains Active-living Program (MAP) with e-health enhanced intervention; and (2) compare the effects of the MAP with oncology case manager (OCM) care (experimental group) and OCM care only (control group) on the indicators and quality of life. Intervention study is a 12-month two-group randomized trial, including OCM care only (control), Vs. MAP+OCM program (experimental group). MAP will be constructed based on literature review and preliminary results. Main contents of MAP are to (a) cope multi-domain of distress, and (b) develop an active life style to handle their life after cancer, including effective coping, relaxation, regular physical activities, and balance nutrition. Four face-to face interventions will be delivered, including: day before hospital discharge post-operation, before the last weekly instillations of induction therapy (around 6±2 weeks post operation), 2nd-time cystoscopy and before 1st maintenance therapy (around 3- month post operation) and 3rd-time cystoscopy which before the second cycle of maintenance therapy (around 6- month post operation) [section 1-4], respectively. A brief and automatic app reminder (before) and side-effect follow-up (after) from 2nd section of face-to face intervention will be sent. Boosting health education will also be provided by app/ phone calls or in person around 2 to 4 weeks after discharge. Patients in the MAP+OCM group also can raise their questions through APP to receive brief intervention. The outcomes will be assessed at 5 time points: time before first intervention, before 2nd to 4th interventions, and 12 months, T1-T5, respectively. We will use Generalized Estimated Equation (GEE) to analyze the data with total 120 subjects (60 Vs 60 estimated).
The goal of this clinical trial is to compare physical activity outcomes between endometrial cancer survivors randomized to 1 of 3 conditions: 1) usual care, 2) FitEx, 3) FitEx+yoga. Survivors randomized to FitEx groups will recruit ~3 support team members to complete the intervention with them. The main question[s] it aims to answer are: - Do FitEx groups undertake more physical activity than the usual care group? - Are there differences in quality of life, self-compassion, flourishing, self-efficacy, social support, habit formation, and fruit /vegetable consumption Participants will: - Wear a Fitbit - Complete surveys - Participate in 30 minute weekly virtual meetings (FitEx groups only) - Receive weekly newsletters (FitEx groups only)
The goal of this randomized controlled trial is to learn about how to effectively help children (aged 7-12) who have developed moderate symptoms of posttraumatic stress after exposure to trauma, and prevent development of more severe problems. The main research questions are: - Will the parent-led, therapist assisted treatment "Stepping Together for Children after Trauma" (ST-CT) be more effective, compared to usual care, in reducing symptoms of posttraumatic stress, depression and sleep disorders, and in improving daily functioning for children and their parents after trauma? - Is ST-CT implemented to the municipal first-line services cost-effective? - Will ST-CT prevent use of health care services and prescribed drugs in the long term? The children and their non-offending caregivers will be randomized to receive treatment with ST-CT or usual care, and symptoms and general functioning will be assessed at five time-points.

There are two recruitment methods for this study, which are mainly based on the Co-Principal Investigator Dr. Chih-Jen Huang recommendation of eligible subjects and poster recruitment methods. When the subjects return to the outpatient clinic, those who meet the conditions for admission will be recommended by Dr. Chih-Jen Huang. If they agree to participate in the trial, they will sign the informed consent form, and instruct the subjects to use their mobile phones to scan the QR code of the relevant introduction of the trial first, and complete the test. The first questionnaire measurement before hydrogen inhalation; if the subjects are recruited by the poster, they can contact the host of Tongtong through the QR code on the poster or the contact number, and sign the consent form for the first time during the return visit. The purpose of the study will be to investigate the effect of kinesotaping augmented by resistive exercise on fatigue, muscle strength, and QoL in breast cancer survivors.
