Filter by:The purpose of this study was to determine whether combined treatment with liraglutide and metformin is more effective than liraglutide or metformin as monotherapy in the treatment of obese women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) who had been previously poor responders regarding weight reduction on metformin monotherapy. We anticipated greater changes in body weight in patients on combined treatment than in those on monotherapy with liraglutide or metformin.
Objective of the study was to evaluate the effect of combination of oral Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10), with clomiphene citrate (CC) for ovulation induction in CC-resistant polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).In a prospective controlled randomized trial performed in a university hospital and private practice setting. One hundred ten infertile women with PCOS resistant to CC were randomized to either combined CC/CoQ10 (51 patients, 82 cycles) or CC 150 mg/day alone (50 patients, 71 cycles) for ovulation induction in patients with CC-resistant PCOS. Main outcome measures: Number of follicles, serum E2, serum P, endometrial thickness, pregnancy rate (PR) and miscarriage rate.
Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) affects 5-10% of women in childbearing age. Hyperinsulinemia contributes to chronic anovulation commonly encountered in women with PCOS. The first choice therapy is clomiphene citrate (CC). In CC resistant cases, the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ACOG) recommends the use of insulin sensitizer metformin. Other insulin sensitizing agents include rosiglitazone and pioglitazone. Pioglitazone is said to improve fertility and ovulation in patients with PCOS.CC may be associated with poor endometrial thickening due to its antiestrogenic effect. Letrozole may improve this condition. In this study we will compare the effect of combined letrozole-metformin-pioglitazone with that of combined CC-metformin-pioglitazone in ovulation induction in CC-resistant PCOS women.

We anticipated greater changes in body weight in patients treated with liraglutide than in those treated with metformin.
The purpose of this study is to help determine the best treatment plan for women with PCOS who are overweight or obese and experiencing significant symptoms of depression and anxiety. Specifically, the investigators are attempting to see if there is a difference between cognitive behavioral therapy in combination with nutritional counseling in improving mood symptoms, response to stress, and risk factors for heart disease compared to nutrition counseling alone. The investigators hypothesize that combined treatment with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and nutritional counseling will be more beneficial.
This study investigates the incretin effect in women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) before and after removal of their insulin resistance by metformin. The investigators' hypothesis is that insulin resistant women with PCOS have a reduced incretin effect and elevated glucagon responses as measured by a 75-g oral glucose tolerance test and isoglycemic i.v. glucose infusion. The investigators hypothesise that both can be improved when their insulin resistance is removed.
The purpose of this research study is to collect specimen samples and study medical information from women with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) and women without PCOS. The goal is to learn more about the changes that take place in the body that result in PCOS. We anticipate that 32 women will take part in this study (16 without PCOS and 16 with PCOS). All patients will undergo a physical exam, blood tests, and ultrasound of their ovaries. If they meet the criteria for this study, they will then undergo additional blood tests, removal of a small amount of subcutaneous abdominal fat, measurement of regional body fat (i.e., DXA scan) and a modified frequently-sampled intravenous glucose tolerance test (FSIGTT). The women without PCOS will complete the study at this point. The women with PCOS will be randomized to receive the drug flutamide 125 mg/day or placebo. They will take the drug every day for six 28-day cycles. They will be asked to collect and store a urine sample once a week. They will also be asked to complete a pill diary and menstrual diary. Once a month while they are taking the flutamide/placebo, they will return to the clinic and bring their frozen urine samples. At that time they will undergo a physical exam, toxicity assessment, and blood draw. Quality of Life assessments will be done at the beginning of the study for all participants. Women with PCOS who are taking the flutamide or placebo will be asked to repeat the Quality of Life assessments during the study and at the end of the study. After the six 28-day cycles are completed they will then undergo additional blood tests, removal of a small amount of subcutaneous abdominal fat, measurement of regional body fat (i.e., DXA scan) and a modified frequently-sampled intravenous glucose tolerance test (FSIGTT). Six months following the completion of all study protocol procedures, participants who received flutamide/placebo will be contacted by phone to check on the status of their health. They will be asked if they have experienced any health problems or have become pregnant since they completed the study procedures.
To assess the effects of AZD4901 when given in multiple doses to females with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome
The purpose of the study is to identify lifestyle factors associated with PCOS and understand how diet and activity levels impact features of PCOS. The secondary aim is to examine psychosocial factors (e.g., health beliefs) of women with PCOS.
In this study the investigators aimed to investigate whether there is a relation between body weight and serum anti mullerian hormone levels in adults with polycystic ovary syndrome. For this purpose the investigators designed a prospective study including three groups. The group I is defined as adults with polycystic ovary syndrome and body mass index is greater than 25. The group II is defined as adults with polycystic ovary syndrome and body mass index is less than 25. The group III is defined as adults with non-polycystic ovary syndrome and body mass index is less than 25. The all three groups are compared considering their serum AMH levels,lipid profiles, sex steroids and glycemic analyses.
