The Effect of Demonstration and Video Viewing Education on Metered Dose Inhaler Usage Skills in Asthma Patients

In the treatment of respiratory diseases such as COPD and asthma, bronchodilators and steroids, which are essential drugs, are preferred to be administered by inhalation compared to oral and parenteral routes. In the studies conducted with the use of inhaler drugs, it is seen that many wrong practices have been made regarding the techniques of using the inhaler drugs and that the correct usage techniques are not followed. Inability to use the inhaler device fully and correctly; It causes consequences such as failure to control the disease, increase in drug use and side effects, increase in exacerbations, high hospitalization and waste of drugs, both undermining the trust in treatment and putting an extra burden on the health expenditures of the countries. This research aim is to evaluate the effectiveness of the training given with the demonstration method and video watching method for the use of the Metered Dose Inhaler (MDI) in asthmatic patients, and to ensure that the patients learn the correct inhaler use techniques.

The aim of this interventional study is to determine the effect of the mobile application on quality of life and supportive care in patient undergoing stem cell transplantation.The main questions it aims to answer are: 1. What is the effect of the education given with the mobile application on the quality of life of stem cell transplant patients? 2. What is the effect of the education given with the mobile application on supportive care of stem cell transplant patients? 3. What is the effect of the education given with the mobile application on anxiety levels of stem cell transplant patients? In the study, patients will be randomized into the group in which standard processes are applied and the group trained by the mobile application.

The Effects of E-Mobile Education and Counselling Services on Bariatric Surgery Patients

This study was conducted as a randomized controlled trial to determine the effects of e-mobile education and counselling service on self-care agency, body image, and quality of life in patients undergoing bariatric surgery. The sample of the study was determined using power analysis after making preliminary tests with the patients who met the sample selection criteria in Isparta City Hospital Obesity Center, and consisted of 51 (26 experiment, 25 control) patients. The patients in the experimental group received e-mobile training and consultancy services with the mobile application developed specifically for bariatric surgery that started before the operation and lasted for 3 months. The data of the study were collected using the Personal Information Form, Self-Care Agency, Body Image, and Moorehead Ardelt Quality of Life II (MA-II) Scales prepared in accordance with the literature. In addition to descriptive statistics, Chi-Square, Independent Samples t-test, Repeated Measures, Mann-Whitney U and Friedman tests were used to evaluate the data. A statistically significant difference was found in the mean scores of Self-Care Strength, Body Image, MA-II and BMI of the patients in the experimental and control groups according to the processes (p>0.05). There was no statistically significant difference between the groups in terms of preoperative, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd month Self-Care Power, Body Image and MA-II scale mean scores (p>0.05). There was a statistically significant difference between the groups in favour of the experimental group in terms of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd month BMI averages (p<0.05).

The In4M Study: Integrating 4 Methods to Assess Physical Function in Cancer Patients

This is a prospective observational cohort study. Breast cancer and lymphoma patients planned to receive cytotoxic therapy will be recruited at Yale and Mayo Clinic. The Study Period is 9 months, during which enrolled patients will use their personal smartphone, computer, or other web-connected device to connect with the Hugo platform which will deliver PRO questionnaires, and sync to the wearable device in the study (Fitbit). The PerfO (6MWT) will be conducted twice in clinic during the study period. Structured information from the electronic health record (EHR) and patient portals will be collected and where needed, the EHR will be directly reviewed to record AEs, hospitalizations/emergency department visits and dose delay/reductions. Required in-person face to face visit is only at baseline for consent, enrollment and receipt of wearable device; patients can be followed remotely afterward (i.e. do not need to be treated at Mayo or Yale)

Postpartum Video Education

This is a prospective, single-center, randomized control study to determine if video education at the time of postpartum discharge improves patient knowledge on the warning signs for the top three causes of severe maternal morbidity (infection, hemorrhage, and blood pressure disorders) in the first seven days following delivery. Participants will be randomized to written discharge education + video education (intervention) vs standard discharge education (control). They will complete a baseline questionnaire and a post-discharge education questionnaire during their postpartum stay to assess for knowledge improvement. The investigators hypothesize that video education will improve patient's knowledge of severe maternal morbidity warning signs.

This situation imposes more responsibilities on patients and their relatives, especially in the post-operative period, for undertaking care, managing developing health-related conditions, and advancing the treatment process in a positive way. For this reason, it is very important for patients and their relatives to receive training before discharge on issues such as adaptation to daily life, movement, self-care skills, and complications related to post-operative home care. The fact that patients who have TKR surgery are mostly elderly individuals also increases the importance of the subject. At the same time, in order for patient education to be effective, it is very important that the information given is suitable for the level of health literacy, easily readable and understandable in a way that patients can understand. If the transmitted information is not presented in an easy and understandable way, the musculoskeletal functions, quality of life and socio economic productivity of the patients after the surgery will be endangered. In addition, patient education given to patients is not only written; Using visual, auditory and technological materials such as various presentations, videos, photographs, in accordance with different learning styles, provides a more effective coping with the problems in the post-operative period and reduces physical and psychological problems. In this context, it is seen that the use of QR code, which is a digital technological application that has recently been used in the field of health, is an application that can provide an easier understanding of the information transmitted verbally and in writing by healthcare professionals.
