Filter by:The primary care physiotherapy units of the Spanish health service in Castille and Leon (SACYL) are responsible for providing physiotherapy treatments to the general population. Being part of the primary health care system, the actions of these units are aimed at the treatment of common conditions that do not involve severity, frequently musculoskeletal disorders. The work of physiotherapists is closely related to the functionality of patients and, in this sense, the World Health Organization (WHO) has proposed the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) as a conceptual framework to characterize the functional status of individuals. The use of ICF in the clinical setting is not sufficiently widespread due to the the difficulties that the use of such an exhaustive classification implies in practice. In an attempt to address this problem, the WHO has encouraged the development of reduced versions aimed at responding to specific conditions or care contexts. The idea behind the development of core sets is that it is possible to select a number of categories so as to capture the essence of a given clinical process, allowing an agile use of the ICF. However, in order to put these core sets into practice, it is necessary to check that the selected categories are valid from the perspective of the participants in the clinical processes. The purpose of this research project is to determine whether the musculoskeletal core sets of the ICF are applicable in SACYL primary care physiotherapy units. This implies knowing if the categories already selected in these sets are representative of the health aspects considered as most relevant in the clinical context of physiotherapy in primary care. To achieve this, four studies will be conducted to capture the perspective of patients, physiotherapists, researchers and clinical practice. This information will be translated into the language of the ICF to obtain comparable categories with those present in the core sets. In this way, this research project will make possible to validate or adapt the core sets of the ICF for musculoskeletal conditions, in a specific clinical context of physiotherapy in primary care.
The main aim of this study is to see how people with MM respond to previous or current treatment. Participants will be treated according to their clinic's standard practice. Each participant will fill out a study questionnaire during a routine doctor visit. Information collected from past medical records will also be used.
Recently, left paratracheal pressure was introduced as an alternative method to prevent pulmonary aspiration instead of cricoid pressure. Criocoid pressure is known to worsen glottic visibility when using Pentax. However, the effects of left paratracheal pressure on glottic view when using Pentax are not studied yet. In this study, the subjects are divided into two groups (group I: left paratracheal pressure applied before intubation, group II: conventional cricoid pressure applied before intubation). Investigators will assess the glottic view during intubation using Pentax.
This study will test the effects of an intervention to reduce substance use and related harms among people leaving rural jails or otherwise involved in the criminal justice system. This study will compare people in a health linkage intervention with people who will get overdose (OD) education. Everyone will take part in the baseline and follow-up surveys and receive OD education. Participants will be assigned to one of the two groups by chance based on when they are enrolled to the study and if their county is randomly assigned to an intervention or a comparison condition. By doing this study, the investigators hope to learn if providing linkage to health services along with HIV, hepatitis C virus (HCV), and overdose education to people leaving rural jails or otherwise involved in the criminal justice system will reduce substance use and related harms.
This is an open-label study to understand the safety and tolerability of AXA4010, a novel composition of amino acids in adult and adolescent subjects with sickle cell disease over 12 weeks. The study also assesses the effects of this amino acid composition on the structure and function of the vascular system. Physiological effects on structure and function will be assessed by Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) to assess blood flow in the brain and kidneys and the 6-Minute walk with pulse oximetry. Changes in blood biomarkers of inflammation will also be assessed.
This is a Phase 2, randomized, double-blind, placebo controlled, three arm study in adult men with biopsy confirmed NASH. The study is aimed at evaluating efficacy and tolerability of LPCN 1144 in adult men with NASH.
This investigation is designed to evaluate the performance rate of a polyurethane (PU) condom versus a standard natural rubber latex (NRL) condom.
The purpose of this study was to assess the feasibility of a one-day-and-a-half no intensive multidisciplinary education and exercise therapy program in the subgroup of patients with subacute or chronic LBP for whom first-line treatments had failed but for whom an intensive multidisciplinary rehabilitation program was not indicated.
The number of smartphone users in Taiwan continues to increase exponentially. Smartphone addiction tends to not only disrupt the ability of social communication but cause physical and psychological problems as well. This study examined the relationship among skin conductance, electroencephalography, heart rate variability (HRV), social interaction anxiety and smartphone addiction among Line apps users, and we also tried to identify associated factors for further interventions.
A Phase III, Multinational, Multicenter, Investigator-Masked, Randomized, Active-Controlled Trial, comparing the efficacy and safety of DE-130A with Xalatan® in Patients with Open-Angle Glaucoma or Ocular Hypertension over a 3-Month period, followed by a 12-Month Follow-Up with Open-Label DE-130A Treatment.
