The purpose of this retrospective study is to evaluate the effectiveness of CPM nasal spray as part of the treatment of COVID-19 and its impact on clinical symptoms. Two cohort groups will be compared (CPM vs. standard care). The hypothesis to be tested is that patients treated with CPM nasal spray showed more rapid clinical improvement than those treated with standard of care alone. Clinical improvement will be evaluated by the total number of days with the manifestation of COVID-19 symptoms, including cough, nasal congestion, ageusia, and anosmia, among others. The rate of hospitalization between the cohorts will also be evaluated.
This is a phase 1/2a randomized, double-blind study to evaluate the safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics, and pharmacodynamics of study drug AJ201 in subjects with Spinal and Bulbar Muscular Atrophy (SBMA).
The main objective of this project is to evaluate the genomic information previously associated with cardiovascular diseases (CVD) and its importance as an independent risk predictor (expressed in Odds Ratio) when adjusted for traditional risk factors (smoking, diabetes, arterial hypertension, obesity , anxiety and depression, inadequate diet, physical inactivity, alcohol consumption and apolipoprotein B/A1 ratio (ApoB/ApoA1). An unpaired case-control study of individuals over 18 years of age will be carried out. Cases (N = 1867) will be enrolled right after the occurrence of the first atherosclerotic cardiovascular event (Acute Myocardial Infarction, Stroke and Peripheral Artery Thrombotic-Ischemic Events). The ratio between cases and controls will be 1:1. The controls (N = 1867) will be adult individuals over 18 years of age who sought medical care at the same locations for other clinical reasons (no CVD) or individuals without any overt disease. The genetic evaluation will be performed through the association of Low-covering Whole Genome Sequencing (coverage 0.5-5x) and Whole Exome Sequencing (average coverage 30x).
The main aim of the study is to check side effect from the study treatment with TAK-771 in long term. Participants can have taken part in the previous study TAK-771-3004 (NCT05150340). For those who can take part, the participants will receive injections of TAK-771 after the end of the previous study. The participants will be treated with TAK-771 for totally 3 years. There will be many clinic visits. The number of visits will depend on the infusion cycles of study drug.
In Latin America, Colombia ranks fourth in countries with the highest number of people with disabilities (6.4%), 80% of whom live in low socioeconomic strata, have little access to education and high unemployment rates. Of these nearly 3 million people with this condition, an estimated 11,476 need upper limb prostheses, 12% of whom have transradial or below-elbow amputation. Although many of the functions that have been lost by amputation can be recovered with a prosthesis, few people in Colombia use these devices. This is because, currently, only aesthetic and mechanical options are found, and the most advanced options, such as myoelectric ones, are manufactured in other countries, have very high prices and are not designed according to local needs. The only option manufactured at the national level is the one developed by Protesis Avanzadas S.A.S., but it still has aspects to improve that would lead it to better adapt to the needs of Colombian users. All of the above shows the evident need for the country to generate products that can help this population. The objective of this project is then to redesign, implement and evaluate the effectiveness of a good quality transradial myoelectric prosthesis, focused on the Colombian amputee population and improving acceptance rates. For the design phase of the study, a group made up of health professionals and patients with transradial amputation will be included to evaluate the preferences and priorities of their prosthesis. For pre-commercial validation, an effectiveness study will be carried out by means of a randomized crossover clinical trial with 12 participants in which the functioning and quality of life of the user with and without the prosthesis and satisfaction with it will be analyzed using methods of Bayesian statistics. This study is expected not only to improve the quality of life of people with transradial amputation and their families, but also to provide a functional option for the health system.
This phase I trial evaluates the side effects of psilocybin and how well it works under supportive care conditions in cancer survivors living with demoralization and chronic pain. Cancer patients often experience demoralization, which is characterized by feelings of hopelessness, loss of meaning, and existential distress. Psilocybin psychotherapy, together with multidisciplinary palliative and supportive care, may help treat the anxiety, depression, and chronic pain felt by cancer survivors - defined here as cancer patients from time of diagnosis through the end-of-life.
Intraoperative hemodynamic management is vital in the success of lung transplantation. Significant intraoperative hemodynamic compromise and hypoxic episodes may contribute to an increase in severe postoperative complications related to hypoperfusion, including cerebrovascular accidents, acute kidney injury, and mesenteric ischemia. In certain lung transplant recipients, intraoperative cardiopulmonary support is mandatory because certain factors would make "off-pump" transplants unsafe. These include severe pulmonary hypertension or severe ventricular dysfunction. In such patients, routine intraoperative support should be employed. However, it is possible to conduct the lung transplant without cardiopulmonary support in the remainder of patients who do not have severe pulmonary hypertension or right heart dysfunction. In such patients, the lung transplant may be started without cardiopulmonary support. However, cardiopulmonary support may be initiated "on-demand" if there is development or impending hemodynamic embarrassment or hypoxia. Conversely, the opposite approach would be to routinely conduct all lung transplant operations using cardiopulmonary support, which may also lead to specific ECMO-related complications. The investigators question whether on demand intraoperative ECMO in patients with significant risk factors will produce severe postoperative complications in a rate similar to routine ECMO.
This trial is a Phase III study. All patients are stage IIIB/C (unsuitable for radical therapy) or IV non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC), Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG) performance status 0-1. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of AK112 comparing Pembrolizumab in subjects with advanced NSCLC whose tumors have a programmed cell death-ligand 1 (PD-L1) Tumor Proportion Score (TPS) greater than or equal to 1%.
