Osteoarthritis (OA) is a chronic degenerative infection that presents clinical features such as pain and limited range of motion. A weakness of the quadriceps makes this joint more susceptible to wear and tear to the articular cartilage, especially in the medial compartment of the knee. As a result, it is necessary to promote an increase of at least 30% in quadriceps strength for a beneficial effect on pain and 40% in functional capacity. Therapeutic exercises are used to increase strength muscle, in addition to high intensity exercises, to decrease joint pain, low to moderate intensity resistance training has been included, with the new approach of using partial blood flow restriction.
In practice, a single test is used to quantify thumb proprioception. Previous studies have found a decrease in joint position sense (JPS) and force sense (FS) in patients diagnosis of thumb carpometacarpal osteoarthritis, but no correlation have been stabilize between JPS, FS and pain intensity perceived by the patient during activity daily life (ADL). The goal of the study is compared joint position error (JPE) with joint force sense error (JFSE) in subjects with carpometacarpal (CMC) joint osteoarthritis and investigated a possible correlation between thumb pain intensity and thumb proprioception in patients with CMC joint OA.
Knee pain is one of the most usual pain that commonly affects people especially in the late age. It can be caused by osteoarthritis, poor posture or sitting position, bad bending or improper lifting. It is usually not caused by a serious illness. It is the most common cause of disability. To compare the long term effects of Mulligan Mobilization with Movement versus Macquarie Injury Management Group on pain and function of knee osteoarthritis.
The main objectives of this study are to evaluate overall clinical performance and safety of the Persona Ti-Nidium implant in total knee arthroplasty.
MicroPort Orthopedics Inc. (MPO) plans to market the EVOLUTION® NitrX™ Non-Porous Keeled Tibia and EVOLUTION® NitrX™ CS/CR Non-Porous Femur with the EVOLUTION® Cruciate Sacrificing (CS) Tibial Insert globally, including in the European Union (EU). MPO is conducting this post market clinical follow-up (PMCF) study to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of the EVOLUTION® NitrX™ Non-Porous Keeled Tibia and EVOLUTION® NitrX™ CS/CR Non-Porous Femur. These components are used along with the EVOLUTION® Cruciate Sacrificing (CS) Tibial Insert components that is marketed in the European Union (EU). This type of data collection is required by regulatory authorities for all TKA devices that do not have medium to long-term clinical evidence available.
The study will be conducted to determine the difference on functional status, self-efficacy, and quality of life between groups with and without telephone counseling and training on disease management for participants.
This is a prospective, randomized, double-blind, active control clinical trial to evaluate the safety and efficacy of a senolytic agent (Fisetin) and an anti-fibrotic agent (Losartan), used independently and in combination, to improve beneficial effect demonstrated by the active control which is to be injection of autologous bone marrow aspirate concentrate (BMAC) into an osteoarthritic knee.
Aspiration of gastric contents during perioperative period is a grave complication with significant morbidity and mortality. Diabetic patients have a higher incidence of autonomic dysfunction, causing gastropathy. They are known to have gastroparesis and the consequent delayed gastric emptying which predisposes them to an increased risk of aspiration than the general population. Furthermore, other common factors can influence the gastric emptying rate, as for example, old age, pain, and the use of opioid analgesics. In the previous study, evidence of increased pain was reported in patients undergoing staged bilateral total knee arthroplasty, in whom the second operated knee had greater sensitivity (tertiary hyperalgesia) due to the surgical injury to the first operated knee. In the present study, we will evaluate the effect of old age, diabetes, surgical stress, pain, and the use of analgesics on the residual gastric volume in elderly patients undergoing staged-bilateral total knee arthroplasty.
The purpose of this study is to measure the duration of treatment effect with subcutaneous injections of pentosan polysulfate sodium (PPS) compared with placebo in adult participants with knee osteoarthritis (OA) pain. The study duration will be up to 34 weeks. Participants who completed pDay 162 of Study PARA_OA_002 (i.e. did not discontinue/withdraw prematurely from the parent study) will be invited to participate.
