Filter by:The primary objective of the study is to assess the effectiveness of alpha-D Glucosamine Sulfate/Standardized Extract of Ginkgo Biloba Leaf versus a comparator product on osteoarthritis pain as assessed by the between group change in WOMACâ„¢ Osteoarthritis Index Pain Subscale using Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) scores in subjects with osteoarthritis of the knee.
The purpose of this study is to compare the exercise protocol called "Siriraj home base exercise program for OA knee" to usual care and physical modalities for conservative treatment in patients with 1st OA knee.
The primary purpose is to evaluate the benefit of an education action of exercise on the level of physical activity in patients with knee osteoarthritis with the waning of a spa treatment for three weeks, three months after the start of the cure.
In this, prospective, double-blind study, patients with mild to moderate symptomatic knee osteoarthritis will be randomized to receive either a series of leukocyte poor, platelet-rich plasma or hyaluronic acid injections under ultrasound guidance. Clinical data in the form of subjective outcome measures will be collected pre-treatment and at four time intervals across a 1-year period. Synovial fluid will also collected for analysis of pro- and anti-inflammatory markers pre-treatment, and at 12 and 24 weeks.
Knee-osteoarthritis (OA) is a common and disabling problem, that represents a global health issue since none of the current therapies are truly disease modifying. The use of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) in OA-preclinical models has been associated with a reduction in cartilage degradation, the attenuation of bone sclerosis and an effective anti-inflammatory response. Investigators have designed a randomized phase I/II placebo controlled trial of UC-MSCs in knee OA. Outcomes will be evaluated at 12 months, comparing monodosis versus double intra-articular injection, re-randomized at 6 months.
This study will document treatment effects, changes in quality of life, procedure complications, adverse events, healthcare resource utilization, and further needed intervention(s) following treatment with nSTRIDE autologous protein solution. This study will also allow for the documentation of the same parameters following multiple injections of autologous protein solution to treat knee osteoarthritis.

To evaluate differences in total knee replacement implant alignment in patients whose arthroplasty is performed using manual or custom instrumentation derived from preoperative CT
Chronic painful knee OA is a major cause of disability in older adults. In patients whose symptoms are refractory to conservative management but who do not wish to undergo TKA or, alternatively, are not operative candidates, genicular nerve RFA represents a promising treatment option. Investigators will determine if patients with chronic painful knee osteoarthritis experience meaningful and long-term improvement in pain, function, and analgesic use, as well as prevention of TKA after RFA of the genicular nerves. Investigators will also determine whether zero versus one set of diagnostic genicular nerve blocks Answering these questions will help determine if genicular nerve RFA is indeed a worthwhile treatment for chronic painful knee OA. Additionally, this will help determine the optimal diagnostic protocol for patient selection for this procedure, which has implications for improving treatment success rates, preventing unnecessary procedures, and decreasing healthcare cost savings.
The purpose of this study is to compare objective and subjective measures of knee stability following total knee arthroplasty with a medial pivot design vs. a posterior stabilized design.
Corticosteroid injections are commonly used for the symptomatic treatment of knee osteoarthritis. Common practice is to inject the joint with a combination of corticosteroid and local anesthetic, with the rationale of providing longer duration pain relief with the corticosteroid and immediate, though short duration relief with the anesthetic. However, multiple in vitro and animal studies have shown that local anesthetic may be harmful to chondrocytes. Despite this data, use of intra-articular anesthetic remains widespread. Many clinicians believe incorporating the anesthetic is important because it can provide immediate pain relief and facilitate patient confidence in the treatment program. However, there is no published data to validate this reasoning. Therefore, the anesthetic has unknown clinical benefit and may have adverse effects on articular cartilage. In light of this, the investigators question the routine use of anesthetics in joint injections. The purpose of this study is to compare the effects of knee joint injections using: 1) corticosteroid with local anesthetic versus 2) corticosteroid with normal saline.
