Filter by:This is a follow-up study of children born to mothers who participated in the CONCEPTT Trial. CONCEPTT (a multicentre randomized controlled trial of continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) in women with Type 1 diabetes during pregnancy). The purpose of this study is to examine the association of maternal glycemic measures on childhood intelligence quotient (IQ), behavioural outcomes, language scores and weight measures. The children of the women who participated in CONCEPTT will be assessed.
Purpose: To determine unmet functional needs in patients referred to the Palliative Care Unit at Rigshospitalet, Copenhagen University Hospital will be asked to fill out self reported questionnaires regarding problem intensity, problem burden and felt needs, physical functioning, emotional functioning, fatigue, sleep, distress. Furthermore patients physical function will be evaluated.
Paraneoplastic neurological syndromes (PNS) are immune-mediated complications of cancer that can affect any part of the central or peripheral nervous system. PNS occurs at the intersection between immune system and the tumor, where a combination of genetical and environmental factors may play a role. Mechanisms leading to immune tolerance breakdown and autoimmunity in PNS remain largely unknown, and this reflects in an unsatisfactory repertoire of treatments available. Moreover, a better understanding of the biological mechanisms underlying PNS would allow a more precise identification of the modalities that permit PNS patients to have a better oncological prognosis than cancer patient without PNS, with obvious repercussions in clinical oncology. To this effect, an extremely innovative approach involves directly exploring the tumoral tissue of patients suffering from specific PNS via genomic and transcriptomic analysis. The study team hypothesizes that antigen ectopic expression by tumour cells may contribute to the generation of PNS. In the present study, the investigators will analyze the salient features of tumors associated with PNS, namely the histological and immune cells infiltrate characteristics, their transcriptomic profile, and mutational status of involved antigens.
INTRODUCTION: Neurological Chronic disease leads to motor disability and associated pathologies. Numerous studies agree that the lack of prevention and treatment in pulmonary health in children with disabilities results in increased morbidity and mortality, increased medical care and costs in care, and, for patients and their caregivers, decrease in their quality of life OBJECTIVE: The objective of this study is to assess if children with chronic neurological disease and respiratory disease benefit from airway clearance techniques and postural hygiene workshops to optimize their respiratory status and quality of life. PATIENTS AND METHODS: Multicenter experimental study before-after with intervention of chest therapy and workshops of postural hygiene in 30 children from 0 to 6 years with chronic neurological affectation and respiratory complications. Respiratory clinical variables, volume of expectorated secretions, PedsQL pediatric quality of life questionnaires were evaluated and the number of exacerbations due to respiratory complications was recorded.
This exploratory study aims to validate the collection and analysis of brain tissue imprints during the DBS by using a CE marked Medical Device in patients presenting one of the following five disorders: Parkinson's disease (PD), essential tremor (ET), dystonia (DYS), Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) and Tourette Syndrome (TS). The Brain Tissue Imprint project is focused on the DBS surgical procedure, which constitutes an appropriate method to collect brain tissue imprints by taking advantage of the direct and transitory contact at the extremity of the dilator with adjacent brain tissue. Indeed, during this step, micro-fragments of brain material spontaneously adhere to the dilator tip. It is this imprinting process that allows to collect what is defined as "brain tissue imprints. This approach is part of the standard surgical procedure of the SCP without major change or complications.
To determine the safety and efficacy of Amniotic and Umbilical Cord Tissue for the treatment of the following condition categories: Orthopedic, Neurologic, Urologic, Autoimmune, Renal, Cardiac and Pulmonary Conditions. The hypotheses are that the treatments are not only extremely safe, but also statistically beneficial for all conditions. Outcomes will be determined by numerous valid outcome instruments that compile general quality of life information along with condition-specific information as well.
This study plans to learn about how to measure symptoms (like tiredness or rash) in children with special healthcare needs who take 5 or more medications. Sometimes symptoms change in severity over time or new symptoms develop. This can happen after a new medication is started. This can also happen after the dose of an existing medication is changed. The Investigators believe that parents will be able to provide the best assessment of any symptoms that their child might be experiencing. This study asks parents to report any symptoms their child is currently experiencing.
SWITCH Study
This observational, retrospective, single-arm, multi-centre cohort study will use real-world data (RWD) to develop real-world evidence (RWE) of the safety and clinical effectiveness of the Pipeline™ Flex Embolization Device with Shield Technology™ in Australian patients that have received a flow diversion device to treat an intracranial aneurysm (IA). The medical records from 500 procedures completed at Gold Coast University Hospital in Queensland (QLD), Prince of Wales Hospital in New South Wales (NSW), and Sir Charles Gardiner Hospital in Western Australia (WA), will be analysed. The study will report the risk and likelihood of stroke (ischaemic and haemorrhagic), delayed neurological adverse events and incomplete aneurysm occlusion within sub-groups of the patient cohort and determine the predictive or confounding factors that influence clinical outcomes under pragmatic or 'real-world' conditions.
