Filter by:CI-1040 is an experimental drug that is being tested in patients who have advanced colorectal and lung cancer who failed no more than one prior chemotherapy regimen, breast cancer who have failed no more than 2 prior regimens and in patients with pancreatic cancer who have received no prior chemotherapy. CI-1040 is taken orally twice daily with meals. Patients are required to have blood tests periodically while receiving treatment and will be monitored closely throughout the trial for possible side effects and for response.
Brain metastases from solid tumors are diagnosed in more than 300,000 patients annually. Nonsmall cell lung cancer accounts for the majority of CNS mets. Treatment with whole brain radiation and steroids will improve neurologic symptoms in about 50% of patients although survival is short. This study will test the safety and efficacy of temozolomide in combination with radiation therapy in the treatment of patients with brain mets form nonsmall cell lung cancer.
The purpose of the study is to measure tumor response rates for three schedules of Alimta(LY231514) in combination with gemcitabine in patients with locally advanced or metastatic non small cell lung cancer who have received no prior chemotherapy regimen.
L-carnitine is a supplement (type of vitamin) that has been suggested to be decreased in patients with cancer. We will identify patients that have terminal cancer and fatigue. The purpose of this study is to determine if L-carnitine replacement improves fatigue in cancer patients with L-carnitine deficiency.
The purpose of this study is to investigate a safe dose of TAK-165, once daily (QD), in patients with HER2-tumor expression.
The purpose of this Phase 1 study is to: 1. determine the maximum tolerated dose of capsules containing 500mg of freeze dried noni fruit extract, 2. define toxicities associated with the ingestion of noni, 3. collect preliminary information on the efficacy of noni in respect to anti-tumor and symptom control properties to help select specific patients for subsequent Phase 2 studies, 4. identify chemical constituents of the extract that can be used to characterize the bioavailability and pharmacokinetics of noni food supplement.
Gimatecan® is sigma-tau Research's new, potent, oral Topoisomerase I inhibitor. Drugs in this class play a crucial role in destroying DNA replication in tumors. We are conducting this study to determine the Maximum Tolerated Dose of our compound, when given as a capsule, rather than by intravenous injection.
This study will evaluate a questionnaire for measuring constipation in children with cancer. The questionnaire used in this study (Constipation Assessment Scale) reliably predicts the presence and severity of constipation in adult patients, but has not been tested in children. The answers to the questionnaire will be used to determine the child's level of constipation and to plan and provide appropriate care. Patients up to 21 years of age who are enrolled in National Cancer Institute trials and are taking weekly vinca alkaloids or narcotics twice a day or more may be eligible for this study. On admission to the study, participants will undergo the following procedures: - The child (or the child's parent) will be interviewed about the child's bowel habits. - The results of the child's most recent physical examination related to bowel function will be obtained from the medical record for review. - A registered dietitian will interview the child or parent about the child's eating habits. During the study, participants will undergo the following procedures: - A registered nurse will interview the child or parent about the child's bowel movements. This will be done every other day for hospitalized children and three times a week (by phone) for outpatients. - The child or parent will complete a daily diary of bowel movements. - A registered dietitian will evaluate the child's nutritional status periodically (by phone). Children who are not constipated when they enter the study will receive a stool softener every day to prevent constipation. Children who become constipated during the study will be treated as needed. Patients will be followed for 7 days after the last dose of vinca alkaloid or narcotic for a maximum of 6 weeks.
RATIONALE: Chemoprevention therapy is the use of certain substances to try to prevent the development of cancer. Applying topical imiquimod before abnormal cervical cells are removed may be effective in preventing cervical cancer. PURPOSE: Randomized phase II trial to study the effectiveness of applying topical imiquimod before abnormal cervical cells are removed in preventing cervical cancer in patients who have recurrent or persistent cervical neoplasia.
This phase I trial is studying the side effects and best dose of giving 7-hydroxystaurosporine together with irinotecan hydrochloride in treating patients with metastatic or unresectable solid tumors, including triple-negative breast cancer (currently enrolling only patients with triple-negative breast cancer since 6/8/2007). Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Giving 7-hydroxystaurosporine together with irinotecan hydrochloride may help kill more cancer cells by making tumor cells more sensitive to the drug.
