Filter by:RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as docetaxel, capecitabine, and cisplatin, work in different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Giving more than one chemotherapy drug may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: This phase I trial is studying the side effects and best dose of docetaxel, capecitabine, and cisplatin in treating patients with metastatic or unresectable solid tumors.
Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of romidepsin in treating patients who have locally advanced or metastatic neuroendocrine tumors. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as romidepsin, work in different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die.
In this clinical research study, postmenopausal subjects with metastatic breast cancer will be given either the combination of temsirolimus (CCI-779) and letrozole or a placebo and letrozole in first-line hormonal treatment. The primary endpoint of this study is to determine overall progression free survival. Individual subjects will participate in the active treatment phase of the study until disease progression or withdrawal of consent, provided that test article is being tolerated. All subjects will be asked to participate in the long-term follow-up phase of the study, which includes follow-up every 3 months until disease progression (for subjects who withdraw for reasons other than documented progressive disease) or until any new cancer treatment is received, and for survival. The estimated duration of study participation is 34 months.
The purpose of this study is to determine whether the Litx™ system is safe and effective in combination with chemotherapy in the treatment of liver metastasis arising from colorectal cancer. Litx™ is a next-generation photodynamic therapy platform in which the drug, talaporfin sodium (LS11), is activated by light from the light-emitting diode (LED)-based light infusion device, inserted directly into the tumor through the skin prior to treatment.
This is a phase II, multicenter, open-label study of cetuximab in patients with epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) negative, metastatic colorectal carcinoma who have progressed after receiving at least one standard chemotherapeutic regimen that included a fluoropyrimidine. Target enrollment is 80 evaluable patients. Patients with EGFR-negative metastatic colorectal carcinoma who have progressed after receiving at least one standard chemotherapeutic regimen that included a fluoropyrimidine, will receive an initial dose of cetuximab, 400 mg/m2 , intravenously (i.v.) over 120 minutes, followed by weekly treatment with cetuximab, 250 mg/m2 i.v. over 60 minutes. Patients who experience unacceptable toxicity or who have progressive disease (PD) will not receive further cetuximab therapy. Patients will be evaluated for a tumor response at a minimum of every 6 weeks while on cetuximab therapy. Patients with stable disease (SD), partial response (PR), or a complete response (CR) may continue to receive weekly cetuximab therapy, unless they are dose-delayed or discontinued because of toxicity. Patients who have a PR or CR must have a confirmatory tumor assessment no less than 4 weeks after the initial evaluation demonstrating a response. To evaluate the objective response rate, a single-stage design will be used in this study.

This clinical trial studies cancer survivors to identify those who are at increased risk of developing late-occurring complications after undergoing treatment for childhood cancer. A patient's genes may affect the risk of developing complications, such as congestive heart failure, avascular necrosis, stroke, and second cancer, years after undergoing cancer treatment. Genetic studies may help doctors identify survivors of childhood cancer who are more likely to develop late complications.
This randomized phase II trial studies how well celecoxib works in treating patients with cervical intraepithelial neoplasia, a precancerous lesion of the cervix which can develop into cervical cancer. Celecoxib may be effective in preventing the development of cervical cancer in patients who have cervical intraepithelial neoplasia.
RATIONALE: Donor peripheral stem cell transplantation may be able to replace bone marrow and immune cells that were destroyed by chemotherapy. Sometimes the transplanted cells from a donor are rejected by the body's normal cells. Eliminating the T cells from the donor cells before transplanting them and giving cyclosporine may prevent this from happening. PURPOSE: This phase I trial is studying the side effects of T-cell-depleted allogeneic stem cell transplantation after immunoablative induction chemotherapy and reduced-intensity transplantation conditioning (chemotherapy) in treating patients with hematologic malignancies.
The primary purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety, toxicities, and dosage for investigational drug Motexafin Gadolinium administered with docetaxel to patients with advanced solid tumors. Secondly, tumor response to the combined treatment will be evaluated.
