Filter by:This research trial studies how well Oncology Research Information Exchange Network (ORIEN) works in improving genetic screening rate in patients with cancer. Implementation of Progeny Genetic Pedigree and Family History Questionnaire software across all ORIEN member institutions may add value and utility for recognizing and caring for patients with an inherited susceptibility to cancer.
The main purpose of this study is to define the molecular profile of selected solid tumors. From each participants will be collected biological materials for molecular analysis, including saliva, blood and vital tumor tissue derived form surgical or biopsy procedures. Whereas possible, vital tumor specimens will be inoculated and propagated in immunocompromised NOD/SCID mice to study the genetic correlations between genetic status and response to target drugs.
The purpose of this study is to determine the safety, tolerability, and efficacy of epacadostat when given in combination with nivolumab and ipilimumab, and in combination with nivolumab and lirilumab, in participant with advanced or metastatic malignancies.
The purpose of this study is to look at the effects of a 10-week stress management in-person group program. The program will study emotions, stress, and stress management techniques (such as relaxation and coping techniques) on quality of life, distress, depression, and physical health in Spanish- speaking, Hispanic/Latino men diagnosed with Prostate Cancer (PC).
Assessment of the Safety and Feasibility of Administering T cells Expressing an Anti-CD19 Chimeric Antigen Receptor to Patients With CD19+ B-cell Hematological Malignancies.
This is a Phase 1 study which consists of 2 parts; Dose Escalation part and Expansion part. The dose escalation part is open-label, and evaluates safety, preliminary efficacy and PK of single-agent talazoparib in sequential cohorts of adult patients with advanced solid tumors who are resistant to standard therapy or for whom no standard therapy is available. In the dose escalation part, up to 18 (minimum 3) patients are expected to be enrolled depending on the observed DLTs. The expansion part is designed to assess the efficacy, safety and PK of single-agent talazoparib at RP2D determined in the dose escalation part in adult patients with locally advanced or metastatic breast cancer who have deleterious or suspected deleterious germline BRCA1 or BRCA2 mutations. In the expansion part, a minimum of 17 patients will be enrolled evaluable for the primary endpoint.
In preclinical studies, cyclic calorie-restricted diets reduce the risk of several cancers and improve the antitumor activity of standard treatments against already established malignancies.In particular, the fasting mimicking diet (FMD), a plant-based, calorie-restricted, low carbohydrate, low-protein diet to be repeated cyclically every 3-4 weeks, enhances the antitumor activity of cytotoxic chemotherapy, while contemporarily protecting healthy tissues and stimulating antitumor immunity. Most of these effects are likely mediated by the reduction of blood glycemia and growth factors, such as insulin and insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1). When administered to healthy volunteers, cyclic FMD has been shown to be safe and capable of reducing risk factors for different chronic diseases. However, the effects of the FMD in cancer patient populations have not been evaluated so far. This study aims to assess the safety, feasibility and metabolic effects of the FMD in cancer patients treated with different standard antitumor therapies. Patients with any malignancy, with the exception of small cell neuroendocrine tumors, will be considered for enrollment in this study. The FMD will be administered up to a maximum of 8 consecutive cycles in combination with standard adjuvant treatments or therapies for advanced disease.

Cancer causes pain in many of the patients that it affects. Physicians specialized in palliative care help advanced cancer patients to maintain as good pain control as possible through the use of medications such as opioids. Even with palliative care and optimal use of medications, many patients still suffer enormously as the cancer spreads. Because of this, some cancer patients also try or use cannabis in different ways to relieve their pain and improve the way they feel. However, there has not been much high-quality research done yet to prove whether or not cannabis products are truly useful to relieve severe cancer pain. This study is to test if advanced cancer patients who use inhaled medical cannabis (PPP001), in addition to palliative care management, will experience improvement in quality of life and relieve uncontrolled pain, providing safety conditions.
