Calm Athlete: Feasibility of App-based Mindfulness Training on Collegiate Student-Athletes' Mental Wellbeing

Start date: August 23, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The goal of this clinical trial is to evaluate the feasibility of a mobile app-based mindfulness training program in collegiate student-athletes. The main questions it aims to answer are: - Is a app-based mindfulness program feasible for use with collegiate student athletes? - What, if any, benefits are seen in the mental wellbeing of collegiate student athletes following mindfulness training? Participants will use the Calm app to complete semi-structured program of 21 mindfulness sessions over 6 weeks. Participants will complete each 8-15 minute sessions at a location and time of their choosing.

NCT ID: NCT06038942 Recruiting - ADHD Clinical Trials

Formal Versus Informal Mindfulness Among University Students With Self-reported ADHD, Nonsuicidal Self-injury, or Stress

Start date: September 6, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The present study will use a randomized controlled design to investigate group differences between university students with self-reported stress (comparison group), ADHD, or a history of nonsuicidal self-injury (NSSI) in response to a four-week mindfulness instruction program across conditions (formal mindfulness program, informal mindfulness program, inactive control) in terms of the intervention's acceptability and effectiveness.

NCT ID: NCT05994911 Completed - Mindfulness Clinical Trials

Study type: Interventional

Aim: It was planned to evaluate the impact of mindfulness training on interpersonal style and perceived social competence in adolescents.

NCT ID: NCT05948280 Not yet recruiting - Stress Clinical Trials

Virtual Reality (VR) Based Mindfulness Practice in Relieving Stress in Postgraduate Students

Start date: August 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

University students, especially graduate students, are constantly striving to achieve their goals, and their performance is constantly being evaluated, which creates a plethora of stressors, such as tests, a large amount of content to be learnt, lack of time, getting poor marks, and living up to their expectations. Mindfulness has been demonstrated to benefit one's emotions in a 'non-judgement' way. Evidence suggests that VR-based mindfulness practice may help individuals maintain present-moment awareness and block out distractions and may be more effective than conventional mindfulness approaches. The current pilot study aims to test the feasibility and acceptability of VR-based mindfulness practices in graduate students.

NCT ID: NCT05923229 Active, not recruiting - Parkinson Disease Clinical Trials

Moving Mindfully for Freezing of Gait

MM-RCT
Start date: June 7, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The investigators will conduct an randomized controlled trial (RCT) among people with Parkinson disease (PD) and freezing of gait (FOG) to evaluate the feasibility of a mindfulness intervention compared to a educational program about FOG. FOG is a severe motor disturbance that prevents people from stepping normally and is associated with anxiety, frustration, sedentary behaviors, poorer quality of life, and falls. Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is an evidence-based practice that creates a culture to reduce stress and anxiety by increasing conscious awareness and self-compassion. In this study, the investigators will develop a mindfulness-based walking intervention to address both mental health and mobility challenges that constitute FOG.

NCT ID: NCT05913869 Recruiting - Mindfulness Clinical Trials

Online Mindfulness-based Program for Parents of Children With Autism

Start date: August 15, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The goal of the project is to investigate the effects of online 8-week MBSR intervention on diverse parents to support their children with ASD. The investigators will conduct a randomized waitlist-controlled trial with a sample size 22 parents. This study utilizes psychological, behavioral and psychophysiological measures with parents of children with ASD ages 6-12. The first aim is to determine if parents of children with autism from diverse populations are willing participate in and complete an online MBSR program and if online delivery is as effective as in-person program. The battery of parental-report psychological assessments to measure resilience, parental sleep and stress as well as children's behaviors will be administered before and after the treatment. The second aim is to investigate the effects of a virtual MBSR intervention on cardiovascular and sympathetic nervous activity measured by continuous EDA and EKG. Participants will participate in a validated laboratory stress protocol consisting of mental arithmetic and speech tasks before and after the MBSR intervention.

Mindfulness Intervention for Parents of Children With ASD

MAPASD
Start date: July 2024
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This study aims to develop a smartphone app based on mindfulness-based interventions and test its effectiveness in parents of children with ASD. This study aims: 1. To establish the relationship between different life events, cognitive appraisal, and the psychological distress between parents of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD); 2. To demonstrate the relationship between parents' cognitive appraisal of life events and psychological distress moderated by mindfulness; 3. To examine the effectiveness of mindfulness-based intervention (MBI) via ecological momentary intervention (EMI) in reducing the psychological distress of parents of children with ASD; 4. To calculate the cost-effectiveness of MBI via EMI in reducing the psychological distress of parents of children with ASD.
