Filter by:Adolescence is a period of many physical, mental, emotional, and social changes. It is also associated with risk behaviour conducts. Nonetheless, not all youths under disadvantage, adversity, or exposure to risk factors experience negative mental health outcomes. The concept of RESILIENCE provides one possible explanation for the ability of some individuals to maintain positive mental health. Resilience is thus the ability of an individual or community to adapt to life challenges or adversities while maintaining mental health and well-being. The increasing prevalence of mental disorders amongst children (around 10-20% of young people) makes positive mental health promotion in schools necessary through intervention programmes. UPRIGHT (Universal Preventive Resilience Intervention Globally implemented in schools to improve and promote mental Health for Teenagers) is a research and innovation project funded by the European Union´s Horizon 2020 programme (No. 754919). UPRIGHT general aim is to promote mental well-being and prevent mental disorders in youth by enhancing resilience capacities. It has been designed as a whole school approach addressing early adolescents, their families and the school community to finally create a real mental well-being culture at schools.

This study is investigating the self-report adherence and assessment completion rates when presented with a transdiagnostic, partial assessment multiple times a day when compared with a monotopic, complete assessment once a day. Specifically, the investigators are testing the hypothesis that the personalization of diagnostic assessment topics and timing will lead to improved self-report regiment adherence rates, assessment completion rates, and total assessments completed during the study period. The study does not test the efficacy of the personalized assessments as a diagnostic instrument, there is no clinical decision support provided to clinicians during this study, and there is no treatment provided during this study.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is the most common cause of dementia and currently has no disease modifying treatments or simple accurate diagnostic tests. The goal of this project is to study how tau (a protein thought to cause AD) is made, transported and cleared in the human body. Better understanding of these processes may lead to improved understanding of AD, earlier diagnosis and a way to evaluate treatment.
The objective of this study is to carry out a Micro-elimination program for HCV infection in a vulnerable population (people sentenced to non-custodial sentences). This group shares certain peculiarities with the prison population (vulnerability, addictions, mental disorders, etc.), is three times higher than the imprisoned population, and is regularly attended by Social Insertion Centers (CIS) in Spain. An additional objective is to link these people with the specific plans of the Government of Cantabria (Chronicity Plan, Care for Serious Mental Disorders, Harm Reduction Programs and the Center for Attention to Drug Addicts) as well as the Extended Bridge Program for Penitentiary Institutions, implementing the figure of a Navigator (a specialized professional in charge of helping subjects overcome barriers). It is an observational study based on the screening of disease in accordance with the recommendations of the health authorities. Once detected, patients will be referred to the corresponding specialized care following the usual clinical practice.
This study assesses brain connectivity and function of individuals ages 13-25 at a prodromal or early stage of a psychotic disorder. Participation involves approximately 3 hours of MRI scanning and up to 6 hours of behavioral testing at Washington University School of Medicine's campus.
This is a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, multi-centre trial. A total of 300 CHR subjects will be identified in the course of face-to-face interviews using the Structured Interview for Prodromal Syndromes. All participants will be randomly allocated to SFN group (n = 150) or placebo group (n = 150). The study duration includes an intervention for 52 consecutive weeks, and additional 1-year follow-up. The primary outcome is 2-year conversion rate of psychosis. Secondary outcomes include 1-year conversion rate of psychosis, the severity and duration of prodromal symptoms, predictive risk of psychosis conversion, neurocognitive functioning and peripheral blood biomarkers of inflammation, oxidative stress and metabolism. Safety monitoring will be performed using scales for side effect, serious adverse events recording, and laboratory tests.
This project will examine how virtual reality treatment that provides users with the alternate perspective of a virtual interpersonal interaction impacts psychological and neurobiological markers of social perspective taking in children with a disruptive behavior disorder. The investigators anticipate that experiencing a virtual encounter from a counterpart's point-of-view improves a child's perspective taking and alters brain function related to imagining another person's pain.
The aim of this study is the efficacy of a docosahexaenoic acid (DHA)-rich dietary supplement in improving key dementia-related mechanisms and cognitive function in older people at risk for dementia. This is a randomized placebo-controlled, 24 weeks, phase 2 study of Omega 3 in people with increased risk of dementia. The aim is to explore the effects of DHA on cognitive performance (CERAD 10 word memory tests, TMT A/B, Stroop Color-Word, FAS, VOSP silhouettes, Cantab-test (RT, PAL, SWT)), biological markers (blood: CRP, NLF, TNF-alpha, MCI-1, PBMC Abeta middomain, Omega-3-index, IL, CSF: NLF, sTREM2, Ab 1-42, total and -phospho-tau) and imaging (MRI: standard structural DDI protocol including Freesurfer and WML measurements, DTI and ASL).
