NCT ID: NCT02439840 Completed - Clinical trials for Mechanical Ventilation Complication

Use of Bispectral Index Monitoring to Detect Deep Sedation in Mechanically Ventilated Patients: Validity Study

Start date: March 2015
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

In the previous study, the investigators obtained the cutoff value of Bispectral Index to detect early deep sedation in patients with mechanical ventilation. Bispectral Index monitoring can be used as an adjunct tool in screening and confirming deep sedation during the early period of mechanical ventilation. In present study, validation test will be carried out to clarify the sensitivity and specificity of obtained cutoff value in screening deep sedation in patients with mechanical ventilation.

NCT ID: NCT02431702 Completed - Schizophrenia Clinical Trials

A Study to Compare Disease Progression and Modification Following Treatment With Paliperidone Palmitate Long-Acting Injection or Oral Antipsychotics in Participant's With Recent-onset Schizophrenia or Schizophreniform

DREaM
Start date: July 8, 2015
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of the study is to compare effectiveness of paliperidone palmitate (PP: paliperidone palmitate once-monthly and 3-month injections) versus oral antipsychotic (OAP [that is oral paliperidone extended release {ER}, oral risperidone, or another OAP]) in delaying time to treatment failure. The study will also evaluate changes in cognition, functioning, brain intracortical myelin (ICM) volume following treatment with PP compared with OAP in participants with recent-onset schizophrenia or schizophreniform disorder.

NCT ID: NCT02431299 Completed - Clinical trials for Severe Mental Illness

Illness Management and Recovery Treatment Integrity Scale Validation and Leadership Intervention Development

IT IS VALID
Start date: September 2012
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

Illness Management and Recovery (IMR) is an evidenced-based approach to teaching consumers with severe mental illness how to set and achieve personal recovery goals and acquire the knowledge and skills to independently manage their illnesses. Longitudinal, multi-site, and randomized controlled trials have shown IMR to be effective in increasing illness self-management and coping; some evidence also points to reduced hospitalization rates. Fidelity, or adherence to a specific treatment model, is equally important to both clinical research and to the practical dissemination of evidence-based practices to the field. To this end, the research team has developed an IMR clinician-level fidelity assessment, the IMR Treatment Integrity Scale (IT-IS). However, the validity of the preliminary IT-IS has not been rigorously evaluated. Additionally, it is crucial to develop strategies to utilize the IT IS to increase adherence to the IMR model and ultimately increase consumer outcomes. The purpose of this study is to assess the construct validity of the IT-IS by testing the relationship between IT-IS elements and mechanisms of change and proximal outcomes. The investigators will collect a sample of IMR session recordings and pre-post data from IMR participants from recruitment sites in Indiana, New Jersey and several other states. The investigators will test hypothesized relationships between specific program elements and theoretically proposed mechanisms of change. The investigators will also assess organizational and clinician factors affecting IMR competence by including a survey for the staff members who are located as sites where the investigators have clinicians participating in providing IMR.

NCT ID: NCT02430935 Completed - Psychosis Clinical Trials

A Study of the Effectiveness of Cognitive Adaptation Training in Early Intervention for Psychosis

Start date: April 2015
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The proposed study will involve a randomized trial of Cognitive Adaptation Training (CAT) for early intervention as compared against an active control in which Action Based Cognitive Remediation (ABCR) will be applied.

NCT ID: NCT02427542 Completed - Psychotic Disorders Clinical Trials

Feasibility Trial of CBT for Depersonalisation in Psychosis

Start date: March 2015
Phase: Phase 1
Study type: Interventional

This is a feasibility trial designed to test the feasibility and acceptability of a brief form (six sessions) of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) for Depersonalisation/Derealisation (DP/DR) in those individuals who also have a diagnosis of a psychotic disorder. Participants will be randomised to receive either six sessions of CBT targeting DP/DR symptoms or to a treatment as usual control condition.

NCT ID: NCT02424188 Completed - Mental Illness Clinical Trials

Trial of Integrated Smoking Cessation, Exercise and Weight Management in Serious Mental Illness: TRIUMPH

TRIUMPH
Start date: July 7, 2016
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This study will determine whether an 18-month practical tobacco smoking cessation program integrating weight management counseling and exercise will be superior to treatment as usual in achieving prolonged smoking abstinence in persons with serious mental illness.

NCT ID: NCT02423746 Completed - Hearing Loss Clinical Trials

Assessing and Addressing Behaviors in Children With Hearing Loss

Start date: April 2015
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Purpose: This study is a feasibility trial of an existing evidence-based behavioral parent training program with parents of preschool-aged children who were born deaf or hard of hearing (DHH). The hypotheses of this study are (a) that a randomized control trial of the Family Check Up with this population will be feasible, (b) parents will rate the intervention as acceptable, and (c) a signal of effect will be observable among intervention group parents compared to controls for the following outcome variables: child behaviors, parenting behaviors, and parenting sense of competence.

NCT ID: NCT02421965 Completed - Schizophrenia Clinical Trials

Comparing Mobile Health (mHealth) and Clinic-Based Self-Management Interventions for Serious Mental Illness

Start date: June 2015
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The study is a three year research project whose aims are to evaluate the willingness of individuals with serious mental illness to initiate the two illness self-management interventions- WRAP or FOCUS, to examine and compare participant engagement, satisfaction, and outcomes (symptoms, recovery, quality of life) in the two interventions.

NCT ID: NCT02420340 Completed - Clinical trials for Serious Mental Illness

Using The HOPES Program in Transition Care

Start date: September 2014
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This pilot study will collect information about the the potential to use an evidence-based skills training program designed for older people with serious mental illness (SMI), the Helping Older People Experience Success (HOPES) program, to help nursing home residents with SMI gain the skills needed to successfully live in the community.

NCT ID: NCT02417025 Completed - Anxiety Disorders Clinical Trials

Innovative Delivery of Evidence Based Psychotherapy to Women With Military Sexual Trauma

Start date: August 2014
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to determine whether a scientifically validated treatment for Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) called Prolonged Exposure (PE) can be delivered effectively to Veterans with Military Sexual Trauma (MST) related PTSD using videoconferencing technology, which allows a therapist and patient who are not in the same room as one another to communicate. The investigators are interested in learning if this form of mental health service delivery is an acceptable alternative to traditional face-to-face therapy delivered with the therapist in the same room as the patient. This study is being conducted at the Charleston VA Medical Center and surrounding Community-Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs), and will involve approximately 100 female participants.
