Filter by:Our aims are to 1) test that our intervention that can be measured with high fidelity. 2) determine the feasibility of the intervention including recruitment, procedures, measures, intervention acceptability and resources . 3)We will also test the outcomes of this 14-week fitness and wellness program based at a YMCA Healthy Living Center to gauge the effects of exercise and activity on patients with behavioral diagnoses including bipolar disorder, schizoaffective disorder, and schizophrenia. We also want to explore the influence of participating in such a program on the perceptions of mental illness among rehabilitation sciences students.
This study explores the relationship between brain development and infants' social emotion and communication ability, as well as the role of genetic factors in it.To provide a theoretical basis for precise intervention of infants' social emotion and communication problems and the overall improvement of brain development.
An increasing number of schools in rural settings are employing the multi-tier positive behavioral interventions and supports (PBIS) framework to improve school-climate. PBIS can also be used as a framework for the adoption and integration of evidence-based practices (EBPs) for children's mental health concerns. A key challenge is that school personnel need technical assistance (training plus ongoing consultation) in order to implement EBPs with fidelity. In urban and suburban schools, this support can be provided to school staff on site. However, providing ongoing on-site support is not feasible or sustainable in the majority of rural schools, due to their remote physical location. For this reason, video technology has been recommended for the training of behavioral health staff (BHS) in under-served rural communities.
Project ASSET will explore the preliminary efficacy of interpersonal therapy, when compared with cognitive behavioral therapy, for reducing anxiety symptoms, preventing excess weight gain, and reducing cardio-metabolic risk in adolescent girls with above-average weight and elevated anxiety. As a pilot for a larger multi-site study, this trial will also test multi-site feasibility, acceptability, and intervention fidelity.
1. To examine structural brain changes in patients with depression measured using voxel based morphometry(VBM) in comparison with healthy subjects. 2. Relation between grey mater volume (GMV) and other structural changes, and the severity of clinical symptoms. 3. To study if there is structural brain difference between psychotic and non-psychotic depression
Rural areas have fewer, and less well trained, health care providers than non-rural areas. Schools have become more involved in the delivery of mental health services and hold great potential for increasing access to children and adolescents. Innovations in training and service delivery are needed to improve mental health care quality and availability in rural schools. Evidence-based practices (EBPs) can be incorporated into school-wide multi-tiered systems that are currently used to improve school climate and safety. School-wide Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), a service-delivery strategy based on the public health model is one example. Investigators will use an iterative process (Rapid Prototyping) to develop and evaluate the appropriateness, feasibility, acceptability, and preliminary efficacy of a remote training strategy that provides resources to support use of Tier 2 EBPs and effective support for care coordination practices in rural schools.
This is a pilot randomized clinical trial testing an implementation intervention to support delivery of a smoking cessation app tailored to the needs of those individuals with SMI who at community mental health programs.
The study team will conduct a Multisite Randomized Controlled Trial to evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of two approaches for quitting smoking among people with serious mental illness (SMI). The study will compare a novel app tailored to people with SMI, Quit on the Go, to a standard of care smoking cessation intervention. We will test the effectiveness of the Quit on the Go app, an intervention that has demonstrated feasibility and acceptability in the target population, as a tool for smoking cessation in people with SMI. Participants with SMI will be recruited across 3 sites (Duke University, Univ. at Buffalo, and Wake Forest University).
The identification of transnosographic dimensions constituted by cognitive disorders constitutes a particularly promising avenue for classifying psychiatric disorders in a more precise and personalized manner. However, despite interesting preliminary data, there is no exhaustive phenotyping of the different cognitive disorders in large samples where all severe psychiatric disorders are represented. Moreover, the brain mechanisms underlying cognitive disorders remain poorly understood, whereas their identification would allow a better understanding of the pathophysiology of these disorders as well as the identification of potential therapeutic targets. Here, the investigators will compare cognitive-behavioral performance in patients with different types of severe psychiatric disorders (psychotic disorders, depressive disorders, bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders, autism spectrum disorders and eating disorders) and healthy volunteers to identify specific and shared cognitive alterations between the different severe psychiatric disorders. In addition, the investigators will compare neurophysiological cognitive data in to identify alterations in neurophysiological cognitive mechanisms that are specific to and shared between the different severe psychiatric disorders. The investigators will include 180 patients suffering from a severe psychiatric disorder (psychotic disorder, mood disorder (depressive and bipolar disorders), anxiety disorder, autism spectrum disorder and eating disorder) and benefiting from cognitive phenotyping (neuropsychological assessment and possibly EEG) as part of the initial assessment for a severe psychiatric disorder. In parallel, the investigators will include 180 healthy volunteers The different variables corresponding to the judgment criteria will be compared between the groups by being included as dependent variables in mixed linear regression models (ANOVA; or KRUSKAL-WALLIS if non-parametric) with the group as independent factor, time (before, after treatment) and type of treatment. This study will allow the constitution of a transnosographic atlas of neuro-cognitive deficits in different psychiatric pathologies.
This project is a two-armed randomized-controlled trial exploring the effectiveness and mechanisms of change of two different implementation strategies for implementing the Guideline for the prevention of mental ill-health at the workplace. The project will be conducted among public primary and secondary schools belonging to four municipalities in Sweden. Data will be collected with mixed-methods at baseline and different time-points of follow-up.
