Varenicline or Nicotine Patch and Nicotine Gum in Helping Smokers in a Methadone Treatment Program Stop Smoking

Start date: September 2008
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

RATIONALE: Varenicline, the nicotine patch, and nicotine gum help people stop smoking. It is not yet known whether varenicline is more effective than the nicotine patch given together with nicotine gum in helping smokers quit smoking. PURPOSE: This randomized clinical trial is studying varenicline to see how well it works compared with the nicotine patch given together with nicotine gum in helping smokers in a methadone treatment program stop smoking.

NCT ID: NCT00785239 Withdrawn - Asthma Clinical Trials

CryoSpray Ablation(tm)Thoracic Patient Registry

Start date: April 2009
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

The purpose of this study is to create a patient registry to collect and analyze information on subjects treated with the CryoSpray Ablation™ System post-510K approval.

NCT ID: NCT00784329 Withdrawn - Lung Cancer Clinical Trials

Pilot Study To Evaluate Optical Frequency Domain Imaging For Diagnosis Of Central Airway Disease

Start date: March 2008
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

To evaluate the potential of a new imaging device, termed Optical Frequency Domain Imaging (OFDI), in the early diagnosing of pulmonary malignancies in the central airways.

NCT ID: NCT00782366 Completed - Breast Cancer Clinical Trials

Predictive Genetic Risk Assessment Trial

PGT
Start date: March 2008
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

This proof-of-principle clinical trial at Mayo Clinic studies how patients and their physicians understand and utilize predictive genetic risk assessment. A critical goal of this clinical trial is to understand how individual patients and their doctors perceive and respond to genetic risk information that is largely uncertain.

NCT ID: NCT00780234 Completed - Lung Cancer Clinical Trials

Pioglitazone for Lung Cancer Chemoprevention

Start date: August 2009
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

This is a chemoprevention trial evaluating the diabetic agent pioglitazone. Non-diabetic subjects at risk for lung cancer (based on smoking history, lung function testing, and atypical cells in a sputum sample) receive either placebo or pioglitazone and have chest computerized tomography (CAT) scans and examinations of their airways with a bronchoscope at the start of the trial and after 6 months on treatment. Compensation will be provided to the subject after completing the trial.

NCT ID: NCT00776100 Completed - Lung Cancer Clinical Trials

Radiation Therapy or Observation After Chemotherapy in Treating Patients With Stage IV Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer

Start date: October 2008
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

RATIONALE: Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to kill tumor cells. Sometimes, after chemotherapy, the tumor may not need more treatment until it progresses. In this case, observation may be sufficient. It is not yet known whether radiation therapy is more effective than observation after chemotherapy in treating non-small cell lung cancer. PURPOSE: This randomized phase II trial is studying how well radiation therapy works compared with observation after chemotherapy in treating patients with stage IV non-small cell lung cancer.

NCT ID: NCT00771953 Completed - Lung Cancer Clinical Trials

0822GCC: Phase 2 Study of Efficacy and Safety of Apricoxib/Placebo With Docetaxel or Pemetrexed in Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer

Start date: November 2008
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

The primary objective is to determine the anti-tumor activity of the combination of apricoxib + either docetaxel (AP/DC) or pemetrexed (AP/PE) compared with placebo + either docetaxel (P/DC) or pemetrexed (P/PE) as measured by progression free survival in patients with Stage IIIb (pleural effusion)or Stage IV non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).

NCT ID: NCT00769990 Withdrawn - Breast Cancer Clinical Trials

Genistein in Treating Patients Undergoing External-Beam Radiation Therapy for Bone Metastases

Start date: September 2008
Phase: Phase 1/Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

RATIONALE: Genistein may increase the effectiveness of radiation therapy in treating pain caused by bone metastases. PURPOSE: This phase I/II trial is studying the side effects of genistein and to see how well it works in treating patients undergoing external-beam radiation therapy for pain caused by bone metastases.

NCT ID: NCT00769652 Terminated - Prostate Cancer Clinical Trials

Medical Nutrition Therapy or Standard Care in Treating Patients With Lung Cancer, Pancreatic Cancer, or Stage III or Stage IV Prostate Cancer

Start date: October 2006
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This is a two-part study. Part I is an observational study. Part II is a randomized clinical trial to see how well medical nutrition therapy works compared with standard care in treating patients with lung cancer, pancreatic cancer, or stage III or stage IV prostate cancer.

NCT ID: NCT00754923 Terminated - Lung Cancer Clinical Trials

Sorafenib in Treating Non-Smokers or Former Light Smokers With Relapsed or Refractory Stage IIIB or Stage IV Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer

Start date: October 2008
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

RATIONALE: Sorafenib may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth and by blocking blood flow to the tumor. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying how well sorafenib works in treating non-smokers or former light smokers with relapsed or refractory stage IIIB or stage IV non-small cell lung cancer.
