Filter by:Considering the limited availability of psychosocial interventions for IBD, this study aims to investigate MBCT as an adjunctive treatment to treatment as usual to reduce psychological stress and improve sleep quality/regularity in patients with IBD who report elevated stress levels. The study will have a follow-up duration of 12 months from baseline.
BACKGROUND/RATIONALE: Treatment outcomes of patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) have improved enormously during the past decade due to the use of anti-tumour necrosis factor (anti-TNF) therapy. As a result, 67 to 91% of paediatric patients and 66% of adult patients is still in sustained remission two years after the initiation of anti-TNF therapy. Prolonged use of anti-TNFs comes with disadvantages such as dose dependent susceptibility to infections and dermatological adverse effects. Preliminary, mostly uncontrolled studies suggest that dose reduction by dosing interval lengthening is a realistic option in a relevant proportion of patients with IBD, provided that intensive follow-up is applied. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate whether a faecal calprotectin (FC) guided strategy of anti-TNF dosing interval lengthening is non-inferior in maintaining remission in patients with IBD, compared with an unchanged dosing interval.
This study is to explore the role the sleep/wake cycle (Circadian Rhythm) has on Inflammatory Bowel Disease. Participants will be asked to attend two clinic visits 14 days apart. Participants will complete a packet of questionnaires regarding their health and sleep habits. Over the 14 days between visits participants will be asked to wear a wrist actigraphy device that will measure their sleep-wake activity along with filling in a sleep diary. During the visits, participants will have a physical exam on visit 1 and on visit 2 participants will be asked to give blood, stool, and urine samples. Additionally, participants may also give sigmoid tissue samples during an optional unprepped limited flexible sigmoidoscopy procedure.
ActivSightTM combines an innovative form factor and proprietary software to deliver precise, objective, real-time visualization of blood flow and tissue perfusion intraoperatively for laparoscope-based surgery. A small adaptor that fits between any existing laparoscope and camera systems and a separate light source placed along any current commercial system will deliver objective real-time tissue perfusion and blood flow information intraoperatively. Primary Objective: To determine safety and feasibility of ActivSightTM in displaying tissue perfusion in intestinal anastomoses including colorectal and bariatric surgery. Secondary Objective: To determine the efficacy of ActivSightTM in; (1) displaying tissue vascularity and perfusion in comparison to indocyanine green (ICG) during gastrointestinal anastomoses; and (2) displaying biliary tree during laparoscopic cholecystectomy using ICG-based intraoperative cholangiography (IOC).
At least 12% of children have a chronic disease that requires regular medical follow-up after patients reach legal maturity. This international study aims to provide prospective evidence for improving health and wellbeing outcomes in this population. The primary hypothesis is that transition readiness will be more strongly associated with adherence to follow-up, fewer emergency visits and continued education than disease severity or chronological age. The secondary hypothesis is that positive experiences of care will be associated with lower levels of anxiety. Positive care experiences and low anxiety will predict better health-related quality of life during the transition period. A cohort of 504 young patients will be followed for three years. Patients have been recruited from pediatric hospitals 0-12 months prior to the transfer of care and follow-up will be completed after the patients have been followed for two years in adult healthcare.
The study will compare the effectiveness of Bezlotoxumab in individuals with active C. diff ( Clostridium difficile) infection who are diagnosed with Inflammatory Bowel Disease.
This is a prospective, non-interventional registry and biorepository for patients with IBD. Longitudinal follow-up data is collected from both patients and their treating gastroenterologist during routine clinical encounters. The biorepository will consist of prospective collection of blood samples, tissue samples, and fecal samples for research purposes, while the participants are undergoing a clinically-indicated procedure (i.e. venipuncture for routine tests, IV catheter placement, and/or endoscopy). Participants may choose to provide any or all of the aforementioned information and/or samples.
Hepatobilliary manifestations as extraintestinal manifestations of IBD are sometimes underdiagnosed which can impair patient prognosis
Bronchopulmonary manifestations signs and symptoms are variable extraintestinal manifestations of IBD.
