NCT ID: NCT04981093 Recruiting - Inflammation Clinical Trials

Effect of Dexamethasone on Postoperative Inflammatory Factors

Start date: August 15, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This topic foe randomized prospective study.Detection of elderly patients with lunmbar spinal postoperative inflammatory substances in the blood and drainage of liquid level ,clear whether low-dose dexamethasone can inhibit the inflammation, the observation of elderly patients with lumbar spinal postoperative drainage star, to explor whether low-dose dexamthasone can reduce postoperative incision drainage, thus impove the postoprative drainage tube pull rate within three days, which in turn reduce because of the place a retrograde infection caused by drainage tube.

NCT ID: NCT04979130 Recruiting - Type 2 Diabetes Clinical Trials

Comparing Semaglutide Versus Placebo on Intestinal Barrier Function in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (SIB)

SIB
Start date: January 1, 2022
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

This study plans to learn more about the effect of semaglutide once weekly on intestinal permeability in individuals with type 2 diabetes.

NCT ID: NCT04976088 Completed - Inflammation Clinical Trials

Start date: May 25, 2018
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

Phase III, multinational, multicentre, randomized, prospective, double blind, parallel groups, placebo-controlled study to evaluate the analgesic effects of Test Diclofenac Sodium 140mg medicated plaster, Reference DIEP 180 mg medicated plaster, Flector® and Placebo plaster in patients with painful and phlogistic disease due to acute traumatic events of the limbs.

NCT ID: NCT04975971 Completed - Cataract Senile Clinical Trials

A Retrospective Review of DEXTENZA 0.4 mg inseRt Following Corneal Transplant or Cataract Surgery

Start date: March 9, 2021
Phase:
Study type: Observational

A Retrospective Review of Pain and Inflammation Resolution Outcomes in Patients Who Received DEXTENZA Intracanalicular Dexamethasone (0.4 mg) Insert Prior to or Following Corneal transplant or Cataract surgery

NCT ID: NCT04973800 Recruiting - Depression Clinical Trials

Simvastatin and Emotional Processing (OxSTEP)

OxSTEP
Start date: July 5, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Simvastatin is being employed because it is a 'statin'. As a drug class, statins have broad anti-inflammatory properties. Low-level inflammation is thought to be a potentially important mediator of the effects of psychosocial stress (including loneliness) on affect and vulnerability to depression. In this study we are using statins as an experimental tool to investigate this relationship further. Statins are widely prescribed agents that are regarded as very safe and so are suitable tools in this context. We have selected simvastatin because it is one of the most widely used statins and has an excellent safety profile, being also available 'over the counter'.

NCT ID: NCT04971564 Recruiting - Ischemic Stroke Clinical Trials

Thrombo-inflammation Biomarkers Trial in Acute Cerebral Hypoxia

RADICAL
Start date: March 19, 2024
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The goal of this trial is to study, in three well-defined clinical situations responsible for cerebral hypoxia, the concentrations of biomarkers of thrombo-inflammation compared to a population of patients without cerebral hypoxia, and to study in patients with cerebral hypoxia the association between these concentrations and the clinical evolution.

NCT ID: NCT04971408 Recruiting - Spinal Cord Injury Clinical Trials

Impact of Passive Heat on Metabolic, Inflammatory and Vascular Health in Persons With Spinal Cord Injury

SCIPHS
Start date: July 1, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

SCI results in higher incidence of heart disease and diabetes and heart disease is the most common cause of death. Chronic inflammation, deleterious changes in vascular structure and impaired glucose metabolism are risk factors that contribute to both heart disease and diabetes. While exercise can help reduce these risk factors, paralysis and impaired accessibility often precludes exercise in persons with SCI. New research in able-bodied persons demonstrates passive heating decreases inflammation and improves vascular function. Similar studies in persons with SCI suggest they may also have the same health benefits however these studies only investigated the impact of short term (one episode) passive heating (as opposed to repeated bouts). Repeated bouts of heat exposure will likely be required to impact chronic inflammation, but this has never been tested in persons with SCI. This study will test the impact of repeated bouts (3x/week) of passive heat stress over a longer term (8 weeks) on inflammation, metabolism and vascular function.

NCT ID: NCT04970251 Completed - Clinical trials for Intraocular Pressure

Aflibercept as Adjunctive Treatment for Filtration Surgery in Neovascular Glaucoma

Start date: November 1, 2018
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Purpose: To investigate intravitreal aflibercept (IVA) injection as an adjunctive treatment to trabeculectomy with mitomycin C (TMC) and panretinal photocoagulation (PRP) for neovascular glaucoma (NVG). Setting: Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, Bangkok, Thailand Study design: Prospective interventional case series Methods: PRP and IVA (2 mg/0.05 ml) injection were given, and TMC was performed within 2 weeks after IVA. Additional PRP, laser suture lysis, subconjunctival 5-fluorouracil injection, and bleb needling were performed after TMC if indicated. Best-collected visual acuity (BCVA), intraocular pressure (IOP), surgical complications, and number of anti-glaucoma medications were collected.

NCT ID: NCT04968496 Terminated - Inflammation Clinical Trials

Biobehavioral Mechanisms of Food Insecurity

Start date: May 24, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Food insecurity is prevalent in the United States. Defined as unstable and inadequate access to food, food insecurity disproportionately affects low-income households, those with children and those with a Black or Hispanic head of household. Moreover, food insecurity is associated with childhood obesity, a relationship that is not well understood from a behavioral or biological perspective. This randomized controlled trial will take advantage of the natural onset of summertime food insecurity among school-age children, ages 8-12 years, to examine the biobehavioral mechanisms of food insecurity including diet quality, biomarkers of Metabolic Syndrome, inflammation, and stress, weight status, and measures of child mental health.

NCT ID: NCT04965948 Completed - Inflammation Clinical Trials

Effects of Camelina Sativa Oil in Free-living Older Adults

Start date: January 7, 2019
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The present study aims at evaluating the anti-inflammatory effects of a novel food in older adult volunteers. Briefly, this randomized, double-blind and placebo-controlled study is performed on 91 apparently healthy older adults (age≄65 years) before and after 12 weeks' consumption of a snack enriched with camelina Sativa oil. Subjects were randomized into two groups (active group vs placebo group).
