Anxiety and depression are normally associated with inflammation reactions and interleukin (IL) related pathways are most evidently involved. IL-17A (interleukin 17A) induces psoriasis-like inflammation and depression-like behaviors in animals and can be relieved by using IL-17A antibody. Also, human association studies found that IL-17A and certain downstream ILs are associated with the severity of anxiety. IL-17A is a sentinel cytokine. On binding with interleukin 17A receptor (IL-17RA) and interleukin 17C receptor (IL-27RC), it induces signaling cascades via nuclear factor kappa-light-chain-enhancer of activated B cells (NFκB), P38 mitogen-activated protein kinases (p38MAPK) and CCAAT-enhancer-binding proteins (C/EBPs) knots, and stimulates subsequent cell secretions of cytokines and chemokines. Cyanidin 3-O-glucoside, the main anthocyanin component of mulberry, competes with IL-17A to bind its receptors and inhibits subsequent downstream cascades. The investigators plan to use a single-blinded randomized controlled trial to evaluate the auxiliary effect of mulberry juice in general anxiety disorder, including differences in psychiatric symptoms and levels of IL-related markers between the experimental and control groups, and contribution of IL-related genes in the auxiliary effect.
Aloe vera, sometimes described as pharmaceutical aloe, is a flowering succulent plant with many therapeutic properties such as wound and burn wound healing, treatment of diabetes and reduction of blood lipid profile. These benefits have been primary attributed to its high content in polysaccharides, anthraquinones and lectins. However, aloe vera includes more than 200 ingredients and nutrients (i.e. vitamins, saponins, amino acids, anthraquinones, minerals and trace-elements, salicylic acid, saccharides, lignin, enzymes, sterols) the combination of which offers more powerful effects and health-related benefits compared to each one of them separately. Thus, based on the ingredients and nutrients included, it has been proposed that aloe vera may also offer anti-inflammatory, antioxidative, analgesic and anabolic benefits. Exercise training, especially when it is unaccustomed or characterized by increased intensity, results in skeletal muscle microtrauma accompanied by elevated plasma levels of Creatine Kinase (CK), increased sensation of muscle soreness (DOMS), reduced force generating capacity and marked declines in speed and agility. Both anti-inflammatory and antioxidative mechanisms in skeletal muscle are crucial for the termination of inflammatory response and muscle healing process following exercise-induced aseptic muscle injury and inflammation. Although, it has been proposed that ale vera may elicit anti-inflammatory and antioxidative activity, its effectiveness in alleviating exercise-induced skeletal muscle injury and its symptoms, has not been investigated yet. Therefore, the aim of the present pilot study is to examine the effect of transdermal aloe veral delivery on skeletal muscle damage symptoms following an intense eccentric exercise protocol.

Primary Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of dupilumab administered every 2 weeks in patients with moderate-or severe Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) as measured by - Annualized rate of acute moderate and severe COPD exacerbation (AECOPD) Secondary Objectives: To evaluate the effect of dupilumab administered every 2 weeks on - Pre-bronchodilator forced expiratory volume in 1 second (FEV1) over 12 weeks compared to placebo - Health related quality of life, assessed by the change from baseline to Week 52 in the St. George's Respiratory Questionnaire (SGRQ) - Pre-bronchodilator FEV1 over 52 weeks compared to placebo - Lung function assessments - Moderate and severe COPD exacerbations - To evaluate safety and tolerability - To evaluate dupilumab systemic exposure and incidence of anti-drug antibodies (ADA)
The aim of this study is the efficacy of a docosahexaenoic acid (DHA)-rich dietary supplement in improving key dementia-related mechanisms and cognitive function in older people at risk for dementia. This is a randomized placebo-controlled, 24 weeks, phase 2 study of Omega 3 in people with increased risk of dementia. The aim is to explore the effects of DHA on cognitive performance (CERAD 10 word memory tests, TMT A/B, Stroop Color-Word, FAS, VOSP silhouettes, Cantab-test (RT, PAL, SWT)), biological markers (blood: CRP, NLF, TNF-alpha, MCI-1, PBMC Abeta middomain, Omega-3-index, IL, CSF: NLF, sTREM2, Ab 1-42, total and -phospho-tau) and imaging (MRI: standard structural DDI protocol including Freesurfer and WML measurements, DTI and ASL).
Patients with chronic kidney disease, who have evidence of systemic inflammation with increased cardiovascular risk, will be enrolled into this trial. The purpose of this trial is to determine a dose to select for a potential cardiovascular outcome trial with Ziltivekimab. Doses to be tested will be 7.5 mg, 15 mg and 30 mg subcutaneous monthly compared to placebo for six months.
This is a randomised, active-comparator, open-label, parallel-group, multicentre phase IV exploratory study to characterise changes in airway inflammation, symptoms, lung function, and reliever use in asthma patients using SABA (salbutamol) or anti inflammatory reliever (SYMBICORT®) as reliever medication in addition to SYMBICORT as daily asthma controller. Eligible patients diagnosed with asthma at least 6 months prior to the Screening Visit (Visit 1) and fulfilling all of the inclusion criteria and none of the exclusion criteria will continue into the Run-in Period. At Visit 2, patients will be assessed for randomisation criteria and, if met, will be randomised to receive either SYMBICORT as maintenance and reliever treatment or SYMBICORT as maintenance treatment and salbutamol as reliever treatment in a 1:1 ratio. Randomisation will be stratified by the patient's ongoing dose of inhaled corticosteroids [(ICS) low or medium] or long-acting β2-agonist (ICS/LABA) at study entry
PhotoBioModulation (PBM) is a mature science with therapeutic efficacy in humans and animals, and with excellent results in different medical specialties without side effects. However there are gaps that prevent adoption on a large scale. Recent research developed by our group and partners allowed us to understand the mechanisms of action of PBM, from Molecular Physics through Biochemistry and with consequent clinical validation, with precise, replicable and personalized therapeutic results. These findings have led to treatments for many kinds of pains with industrial predictability and accuracy, phenotypic adequacy technologies that are encapsulated, prescribed, and applied. Photobiomodulation applications cover treatments for pain, inflammation, tissue regeneration, healing, immune system activation, all of which are essential characteristics for osteoarthritis therapy. Our idea is to formulate great challenges of Photobiomodulation as a solution to osteoarthritis as follows: 1) Make PBM-based therapies as predictable as drug-based therapies; this is possible with precise dose calculation performed by our team; 2) Map the biochemical and molecular effects of PBM, including those related to gene expression; 3) Unify PBM theory by synthesizing and giving meaning to the millions of PBM data associated with osteoarthritis and correlating with clinical study to be performed under this thematic project. Overcoming these challenges, PBM will become a complementary (or supplementary) alternative to medications, physiotherapy and surgical procedures for the treatment of osteoarthritis.
