The goal of this observational study is to compare the FINDER FLU A/B, RSV, SARS-CoV-2 Test to an FDA-cleared device. The study will utilize prospectively collected de-identified nasopharyngeal samples obtained from both pediatric and adult populations from subjects presenting with symptoms of respiratory illness. The main question it aims to answer are: • the study is to validate that the device intended use in terms that the device's performance meets the criteria for substantial equivalence with a predicate and satisfies the statutory criteria for Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) waiver.
Treatment for bone and joint infection (BJI) is not standardized, which allows a wide range of antibiotic therapy to potentially be given, most often in high doses over long periods of time. Patients are regularly confronted with the adverse effects of these antibiotics, which can lead to loss of adherence and treatment failure. The frequency, severity and impact on quality of life of the adverse effects of long-term antibiotics will be studied in a cohort followed for one year.
Post-transplant patients with COVID-19 infection who attended Shenzhen No. 3 Hospital from December 2022 to February 2023, and enrolled the general population with COVID-19 infection who were hospitalized during the same period, matched by age and gender.
The primary objectives of this study are to evaluate the effect of early-life B. infantis Rosell®-33 supplementation in infants exposed to HIV on: - gut microbiome composition and diversity at 4 weeks of life - markers of intestinal inflammation and microbial translocation at 4 weeks of life - Th1 cytokine responses to BCG at 7 weeks and 36 weeks of life The secondary objectives include to evaluate the effect of B. infantis Rosell®-33 supplementation on: - longitudinal succession of the gut microbiota composition, diversity and function - relative and absolute abundance of B. infantis in infant stool during the first 36 weeks of life - stool metabolome - T cell subset ontogeny during the first 9 months of life. Exploratory objectives are to evaluate whether B. infantis Rosell®-33 supplementation improves: - infant growth - all-cause morbidity - neurodevelopment during the first 9 months of life - antibody responses to early childhood vaccines

The goal of this clinical trial is to evaluate the effectiveness of point-of-care lung ultrasound versus chest X-ray for the management of childhood lower respiratory infections in a low-resource setting. The main question it aims to answer is: Is point-of-care lung ultrasound as effective as chest X-ray for the management of childhood LRIs in a low-resource setting? Participants will be assigned to either a point-of-care lung ultrasound group (intervention) or a chest X-ray group (control), to compare the effect on overall case management and various clinical outcomes (time to symptom resolution, rate of antibiotic use, length of stay, treatment costs).
This controlled clinical trial will be part of a larger, 'virtual hospital-at-home' (vHaH) project called Influenz-er. vHaH is a care model designed to deliver medical care at home, as a substitute for a continued conventional inpatient hospital admission. The overall aim of Influenz-er is to develop, implement and evaluate a novel Hospital at Home model, that will enable safe and satisfactory admission of hospitalised patients including epidemic patients in their homes.
This will be a single-center randomized control trial comparing the efficacy of two different formulations of Chlorhexidine surgical skin preparation in preventing cesarean section wound infections. Participants will be randomized to either 4% Chlorhexidine Gluconate aqueous solution (CHG) or 2% Chlorhexidine with isopropyl alcohol (CHG-IPA) 70% to examine the risk of infectious morbidity in those undergoing cesarean delivery. There will also be a cost-effectiveness analysis of the two preoperative skin preparations.
