Filter by:The purpose of this study is to evaluate whether coadministration of ezetimibe 10 mg/day with simvastatin 20 mg/day for 12 weeks will result in greater reduction of LDL-C, total cholesterol (TC), triglycerides (TG), non HDL-C, and apolipoprotein B (ApoB), and greater increase in HDL-C, compared with simvastatin 20 mg/day as monotherapy for 12 weeks in African-American subjects with primary hypercholesterolemia. This study is being performed to better define the efficacy of ezetimibe coadministered with simvastatin in this population.
We will identify the influence of long-term treatment of Pitavastatin compared to non-treatment control group on the metabolic syndrome by evaluation of a change of metabolic syndrome component score. And we will additionally observe the changes of CVD risk factors like lipid profile, abdominal fat, insulin resistance and so on.
This study will examine the effect of red yeast rice extract compared to pravastatin on muscle related complaints in individuals with high cholesterol who have previously been unable to tolerate statin medications due to muscle pain. The study will determine whether red yeast is associated with a lower level of muscle related complaints compared to pravastatin.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety and efficacy of mipomersen (ISIS 301012) in subjects with homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia on lipid-lowering therapy. This study consisted of a 26-week treatment period and a 24-week post-treatment follow-up period. Following treatment and Week 28 evaluations, participants could elect to enroll in an open-label extension study (301012-CS6; NCT00694109). Participants who were not eligible or elected not to enroll in the open-label extension study or who discontinued during the 28-week treatment period were followed in this study for 24 weeks from administration of the last dose of study drug.
In an observational multi-centre study (CHALLENGE), the effects were assessed of starting treatment with low doses of rosuvastatin in statin naive patients with a history of coronary heart disease (CHD), peripheral vascular disease (PVD), cerebrovascular accident (CVA), transient ischemic attack (TIA) or diabetes (DM), on low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) goal achievement. Also proportional changes in LDL-C, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), total cholesterol (TC), triglycerides (TG) and the ratio TC/HDL-C were studied.
This is a 16-week double-blind, placebo-controlled (for colesevelam hydrochloride (HCl)) study in the type 2 diabetic subjects and pre-diabetic subjects. Diabetic participants will also be treated with open label, background,metformin HCl. Two-hundred sixty subjects with type 2 diabetes (T2DM) and 200 pre-diabetic subjects are planned to be be enrolled. Qualified subjects with T2DM will be randomized 1:1 to receive metformin HCl plus colesevelam HCl or metformin HCl plus placebo matching colesevelam HCl. Qualified pre-diabetic subjects will be randomized 1:1 to receive colesevelam HCl or matching placebo.
