This is a prospective open label clinical trial in patients with advanced or metastatic liver cancer to assess the clinical and biological activity of RAD001 (Everolimus) in conjunction with Bevazicumab (Avastin). Approximately 36 patients will be enrolled.
Transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE) is the traditional method for the palliative management of patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Few previous studies had demonstrated that the serum level of anticancer drug from patients treated by TACE was similar to those treated by systemic chemotherapy. Since systemic chemotherapy may have the possibility to influence patient's general defense ability, hepatitis B virus may reactivate after chemotherapy.This study is to investigate the possibility of TACE in the reactivation of hepatitis B virus.
Polymorphisms of HSP70 and tumor necrosis factor-alpha promoter in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma, chronic liver disease and healthy controls will be measured by PCR-RFLP or direct sequencing. The clinical relevance of patients will be compared in those with polymorphism and those without.
Study hypothesis: The recurrence rate of HCC patients after radical resection is about 60-70%. This study is based on the hypothesis that CIK treatment could decrease the recurrence rate by 15% to 20%. Abstract: This is a randomized controlled study. About 200 patients with hepatocellular carcinoma who underwent radical resection will be included. The patients will be randomized to group A (receive CIK treatment) or group B (just regularly follow up) without any anti-cancer treatment after resection of HCC, and the randomize ratio will be 1:1. Study treatment: Patients in group A will receive 4 cycles of CIK treatments within 3 months after their liver resection. Patients in group B will have no anti-cancer therapy. Anti-virus and other supportive therapies are available in both groups.
Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) as the third most common cause of cancer-related death has a very poor prognosis. Aim of this open label single arm non randomized pilot trial is the evaluation of the efficacy and safety of sorafenib in combination with TACE in patients with unresectable HCC. Efficacy ad safety will be compared with a historical TACE-only group of a placebo controlled TACE-trial.
Malignant cells frequently produce many tumor growth factors to autocidal or endocrinal proliferate growth, metastasis,or angiogenesis about tumor cells. By studying tumor growth factors in hepatocellular carcinoma, one may know the tumor behavior, its relationship with clinical manifestation or invasion, and could be used as diagnostic or prognostic tools.This study aims to study the relationship between tumor growth factors in HCC ant its clinical relevance.

This Phase I/II trial will evaluate the safety and activity of chemo-radiotherapy comprising a regimen of Sorafenib chemotherapy plus SIR-Spheres yttrium-90 microspheres (chemo-radiotherapy, also known as "chemo-SIRT"), for first-line treatment of patients with primary hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in whom surgical resection is not feasible. This study is designed as a prelude to a planned future randomised comparative study that will compare the efficacy of Sorafenib plus SIR-Spheres versus Sorafenib alone, in this patient population.
