Start date: May 2005
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

Study objective: Feasibility and efficacy of a standardised psychosocial intervention (psychoeducation) in substituted opioid dependent patients

NCT ID: NCT00841477 Completed - HIV Infection Clinical Trials

An Hepatitis B Vaccine Model for HIV Vaccine Trials in Drug Users

Start date: January 2004
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The goal of the proposed study is to use the HBV vaccine as a model for a future HIV vaccine trial, examining the efficacy of community-based outreach intervention as well as an accelerated vaccine schedule as a method for increasing acceptance/adherence with HBV vaccination protocols among not-in-treatment drug users. This study will also examine the effect of HBV vaccination coupled with community-based outreach intervention on reducing the incidence of HIV, HBV and HCV infections and the frequency of needle use and sexual risk behaviors related to these viral transmissions. A secondary purpose will be to assess the antibody response after HBV vaccination as a measurement of immunological response in drug users.

NCT ID: NCT00833378 Completed - Hepatitis C Clinical Trials

Drug Interaction Study Between Eltrombopag and Lopinavir/Ritonavir in Healthy Adult Subjects.

Start date: January 19, 2009
Phase: Phase 1
Study type: Interventional

This is a Phase I, open-label, single sequence, crossover study to be conducted in healthy adult subjects. There will be a screening visit, three treatment periods, and a follow-up visit. In Period 1, subjects will receive a single dose of eltrombopag on Day 1, and PK sampling will occur for 72 hours. In Period 2, subjects will receive LPV/RTV for 14 days with PK sampling for 12 hours. In Period 3, subjects will receive a single dose of eltrombopag with LPV/RTV on Day 1 only with PK sampling for 72 hours. Subjects will return for a follow-up visit within 10 to 14 days of the last dose of study drugs.

NCT ID: NCT00830609 Completed - Chronic Hepatitis C Clinical Trials

High Dose Versus Standard Dose of Ribavirin in Patients With Chronic Hepatitis C, Genotype 3

DARGEN-3
Start date: November 2008
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

The rate of sustained virological response (SVR) in patients with chronic hepatitis C, genotype 3, high viral load and without rapid virological response (RNA-HCV negative at week 4) is low. Standard of care of these patients include treatment with weekly peginterferon plus 800 mg/day of ribavirin (RBV). Extended treatment to 48 weeks does not provide more clinical benefit than the standard duration. The main hypothesis is that higher dose of ribavirin may be better in terms of SVR than the standard dose.

NCT ID: NCT00828789 Completed - HIV Clinical Trials

VX-950-TiDP24-C134: Drug-drug Interaction Trial Between Combination of Efavirenz and Tenofovir Disoproxil Fumarate and Different Dosages of Telaprevir on Healthy Volunteer

Start date: February 2009
Phase: Phase 1
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of EFV (Efavirenz) and TDF (Tenofovir disoproxil fumarate) on the pharmacokinetics of TVR (Telaprevir) and to determine the effect of TVR on the pharmacokinetics of EFV and TDF. Pharmacokinetics means how the drug is absorbed into the bloodstream, distributed in the body and eliminated from the body. Furthermore, the short-term safety and tolerability of giving TVR, EFV and TDF together will be evaluated.

NCT ID: NCT00828269 Completed - Chronic Hepatitis C Clinical Trials

Evaluation of RNA From the Liver Tissue Obtained in Patients With Chronic Hepatitis C (0000-123)

Start date: April 2009
Phase: Phase 1
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the quality of the RNA and the reproducibility of gene expression profiling from liver tissue samples obtained by fine needle aspiration.

NCT ID: NCT00825877 Completed - Clinical trials for Hepatocellular Carcinoma

Long-term Follow-up of HALT-C Sustained Virological Responders

Start date: January 15, 2009
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The Hepatitis C Antiviral Long-term Treatment against Cirrhosis (HALT-C) trial is a multicenter clinical trial conducted to assess the effects of long-term antiviral drug therapy on the progression of liver disease in patients who have advanced chronic hepatitis C and have not responded to prior therapies. Chronic hepatitis C is a long-lasting viral infection affecting the liver that may lead to permanent liver damage and cirrhosis (replacement of healthy liver cells by scar tissue). If left untreated, a proportion of patients with chronic hepatitis C will be at risk for complications of liver disease. The drug therapy in the HALT-C trial was designed to clear the hepatitis C virus from the patient s system in order to prevent or mitigate these potential complications. The purpose of this research is to determine if patients with chronic hepatitis C who experienced clearance of hepatitis C virus (known as a sustained virologic response, or SVR) during the HALT-C trial have developed any complications of their liver disease. This study will include 180 subjects who participated in the initial phase of the HALT-C trial and experienced an SVR. The participants will visit the National Institutes of Health for an in-person study visit. During the visit, patients will have blood drawn for lab tests to monitor the progress of their liver disease, and may be asked to undergo an ultrasound examination of the liver to detect any abnormalities that may be attributed to liver cancer. Patients will also answer questions about their medical history particularly any outcomes or events related to their hepatitis C that have occurred since the HALT-C trial and may be asked to sign a release of information to allow researchers to obtain medical records from other clinics or physicians where they have received treatment. ...

Safety Study of SD-101 (a Novel C Type Toll-like Receptor 9 (TLR9) Agonist) for the Treatment of Chronic Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) Infection

Start date: October 2008
Phase: Phase 1
Study type: Interventional

To determine safety, tolerability, and preliminary efficacy of escalating doses of SD-101 alone and SD-101 plus ribavirin in subjects with chronic hepatitis C and no prior therapy.

Cyclosporine in Hepatitis C Infection Viral Clearance Following Liver Transplantation

Start date: June 2004
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of cyclosporine, an anti-rejection drug, on the clearance of the hepatitis C virus in liver transplant subjects being treated with peg-interferon and ribavirin.

NCT ID: NCT00819026 Completed - Hepatitis C Virus Clinical Trials

Observational Trial of Hepatitis C Virus Infected Patients on Calcineurin Inhibitors

Start date: October 2008
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

Hepatitis C Virus is constantly evolving genetically, particularly in response to the immune system. This is an observational study to examine if immunosuppressants particularly calcineurin inhibitors taken by transplant patients in order to avoid organ rejection causes predictable changes in the genetics of this virus that might be important in order to treat it effectively.
