Filter by:This study evaluate Frailty syndrome (FS) as a common syndrome in patients with cirrhosis and it is an independent predictor of hospitalizations, falls and mortality. Identifying, treating and preventing FS can improve the prognosis and quality of life of these patients and reduce health costs.
The purpose of this pilot study is to evaluate a high intensity walking intervention in older surgical candidates with kidney or thoracic disease and pre-frailty or frailty.
Evaluate the feasibility of administering plasma (PF24) acquired from donors of a young chronological age intravenously to older adults at WFBMC while also exploring its effects on age-related functional decline
Frailty is a multideterminant syndrome in which muscle function appears to play a central role. Muscle function depends on brain control, nutrition and perfusion. We hypothesized that multiparametric MRI assessment combined with comprehensive gerontological assessment (CGA) and routine biological assessment of inflammation in a sample of older people with and without diabetes will allow to explore on one side the possibilities of multi-parametric MRI muscle and brain imaging to describe the correlates of frailty and on the other side will describe the different muscle/brain alterations due to diabetes in frailty. The main objective is to compare the lipid percent of the rectus femoris in frail and pre-frail older subjects and in non-frail older subjects.
This study examines the prevalence and incidence of older ER users with cognitive impairment (i.e., dementia and/or delirium) using the ER2 item temporal disorientation in older ED users who are participants of the ER2 cohort study database.
The aim of the study is to evaluate the short- and medium-term effectiveness of additional moderate dynamic resistance and balance training to the CR-program of old adults after valve surgery or intervention compared to usual care-CR.
We hypothesized that the use of anticholinergic medications may precipitate falls differently by frailty status in older adults. Community-dwelling older subjects admitted to the Geriatrics Outpatient Clinic prospectively enter into the study. Frailty status is defined according to the Physical Frailty Phenotype. The drugs are categorized according to the ACB scale
The purpose of this study is to determine if using a subject's baseline frailty score to guide the dosing of lenalidomide in a combination with dexamethasone and daratumumab (DRd lite).
Feasibility and Comparison of the Impact of different Frailty Assessment Tools on the Outcome of Ventricular Assist Device Implantation and Heart Transplantation in advanced heart failure patients
The continuing increase in prevalence of obesity in older adults including many older Veterans has become a major health concern. The clinical trial will test the central hypothesis that a multicomponent intervention consisting of lifestyle therapy (diet-induced weight loss and exercise training) plus metformin will be the most effective strategy for reversing sarcopenic obesity and frailty in older Veterans with obesity.
