Filter by:The aim of the study is to develop, carry out, evaluate and measure the effects of a new patient education program for patients with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS)in primary healthcare. In an randomized controlled trial design the effects of the patient education program on coping, physical functioning, fatigue, pain, acceptance, anxiety, depression, quality of life, self- efficacy, and illness perception will be compared with treatment as usual. The results of the main project will lead to the elaboration of the final patient education program that can be implemented in primary health care, as well as development of a training program for future program-conductors.
This pilot clinical trial studies stress reduction in improving quality of life in patients with recurrent gynecologic or breast cancer. Participating in a stress reduction program may help improve quality of life in patients with gynecologic or breast cancer.
Beta-alanine, as a method to increase muscle carnosine, has been shown to enhance muscle buffering capacity and delay fatigue. Various fatigue tests have been utilized to examine the effectiveness of beta-alanine supplementation. The physical working capacity test has been used to show significant increases in physical working capacities following supplementation. The physical working capacity tests were originally developed by Moritani et al. 1981 and Devries et al. 1982 to measure the point of onset of muscular fatigue. It is hypothesized that beta-alanine will increase physical working capacity at heart rate threshold, thereby signifying a delay in fatigue.
The purpose of this study is to validate the acceptability, operational feasibility and efficacy of a combined fatigue countermeasure comprised of shorter-wavelength light and exercise during operational Orbit 1 night shifts to improve alertness and performance of flight mission controllers. Specifically, the investigators will: 1. Feasibility. Test the feasibility of developing a break room containing fatigue countermeasures (shorter-wavelength light and exercise equipment) to be used by flight mission controllers during Orbit 1 night shifts, and the feasibility to schedule regular breaks during the Orbit 1 shift so that flight mission controllers have the opportunity to use the fatigue countermeasures break room. 2. Acceptability. Test the acceptability of the use of the fatigue countermeasures break room evaluating when and how the room is used by flight mission controllers, as measured on End-of-Shift Productivity Questionnaire. 3. Test the hypothesis that alertness and performance will be impaired in flight mission controllers during Orbit 1 operational night shifts as compared to flight mission controllers working a non-console day shift. 4. Test the hypothesis that alertness and performance of flight mission controllers who exercise and are exposed to shorter wavelength light during the Orbit 1 night shift will be significantly more alert and have better mood, performance (e.g., less Psychomotor Vigilance Task (PVT) lapses, increased productivity) than those same mission controllers working Orbit 1 night shifts without exposure to the shorter wavelength light and exercise. 5. Test the acceptability, operational feasibility and efficacy of implementing an anonymous sleep disorders screening for flight controllers, evaluated by number of visitors to the screening web site and the number of completed assessments.
GCJBP Laennec Injection contains a variety of cytokines derived from human placenta, amino acids, peptides, nucleobases, and carbohydrates. This product is approved for improving liver function. Also, it has been prescribed for lots of diseases such as menopausal disorders, atopic dermatitis, skin cares as well as fatigue for long time. Although its action mechanism and clinical effectiveness are not still clear, there are reports which say a strong probability of its clinical effectiveness in the chronic fatigue patients. This study aims to investigate the safety and efficacy of GCJBP Laennec Inj. (Human placenta hydrolysate) in the chronic fatigue patients through a randomized controlled tial.
This study aims to evaluate the efficacy of 4 weeks of daily light exposure in reducing Post-Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Fatigue immediately post-treatment and at a one-month follow up. The investigators hypothesize that individuals receiving 4 weeks of bright white light treatment will report significant reductions in fatigue compared to individuals receiving dim red light treatment for the same duration of time, and that these treatment effects will be maintained one month after treatment completion.
The purpose of the current study is to investigate whether changes in patients' sleep quality and quantity will be followed by improvements in parameters related to physical and mental fatigue in patients receiving hemodialysis therapy. More specific, the current project will investigate the effect of a 9 months intradialytic exercise training in aspects related to fatigue, quality of life and depression.
The objective of this study is to conduct a trial in the spirit of providing as much as possible the benefit of PG2 treatment to eligible patients and to evaluate the efficacy and safety of different doses of PG2 treatment for relieving fatigue among advanced cancer patients who are under standard palliative care (SPC) at hospice setting and have no further curative options available. Patient's fatigue status, to be measured by the Brief Fatigue Inventory-Taiwanese Form (BFI-T), will be the primary endpoint. The fatigue improvement response rate among patients between two study arms will then be compared as the basis for efficacy evaluation at the end of the first treatment cycle, and will be the primary endpoint. Other endpoints, the fatigue improvement response rate and the mean fatigue scores change from baseline among patients within and between cycles will be included in the secondary efficacy endpoints, and will be compared between two study arms. Patients' quality of sleep, appetite, pain, fatigue, nausea, vomiting and global quality of life (QoL) will be also measured by 11 questions (SS11) from EORTC(European Organization) for Research and Treatment of Cancer QLQ-C30 for secondary endpoint evaluation. The other secondary endpoints include Karnofsky performance scores, and weight change and its related c-reactive protein level of the patients.
