Filter by:The study will employ a Cross-Sectional Validation Study design. The study will be conducted at the Department of Physical Therapy, University of Lahore Teaching Hospital, located on Defence Road, Lahore. The anticipated duration of the study will be 09 months, commencing after the approval of the synopsis. The sample size will be determined following the Kline Method, resulting in a total of 90 participants. A Purposive Sampling Technique will be utilized to select the study participants.
The study aims to evaluate the effect of home-based walking program on peripheral neuropathy, fatigue and quality of life in patients receiving taxane and platinum-based chemotherapy.
The Munich cohort study MUC-CFS aims at the characterization and long-term follow-up of myalgic encephalitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS) in young people aged up to 25 years, as well as at the identification of pathomechanisms, biomarkers, and targets for future treatment approaches.
This project will focus on perceived fatigue as a barrier to physical activity participation and will explore if and how activity pacing, fatigue management, and self-regulation strategies can help to overcome this barrier in adults with chronic conditions who experience fatigue symptoms. The main aims are: 1. To demonstrate the differences and similarities on activity pacing, perceived fatigue, self-regulation, physical activity, and health-related quality of life in adults who experience fatigue by comparing individuals who have been through an activity pacing program or not. 2. To explore thoughts, experiences, needs, and perspectives on activity pacing of adults with fatigue and health professionals as well as any ideas for future development of an optimal intervention. Participants will be invited to complete questionnaires on several variables (activity pacing, physical activity, fatigue, health-related quality of life, and self-regulation of physical activity). In addition, they will be invited to wear an Actigraph for 7 full days and they will also be invited to a focus group interview.
This research is a randomized controlled experimental study to determine the effect of pranayama breathing exercise applied to caregivers of cancer patients on fatigue.
After a prolonged stay in Intensive Care Unit (ICU), fatigue is the most common symptom reported by patients in the Post Intensive Care Syndrome (PICS). Other complications have been described, including ICU-acquired weakness, leading to increased morbidity and mortality after discharge. Actually, risk factors associated with post-ICU fatigue self-reported are not really known.
The health of our nurses is perhaps the most important consideration for delivering excellent patient care. The passionate approach of nurses can lead to a lot of fatigue and stress among nurses. Their health is perhaps the most important consideration for delivering excellent patient care. Self-care provides nurses with the framework for managing professional burnout, compassion fatigue, and traumatic stress. The aim of this study is to assess the impact of self-care skill educational intervention on increasing compassion satisfaction and reducing compassionate fatigue among clinical nurses. The interactive Self-care skill education will be administrated and evaluated.
This is a single-center, prospective, randomized, double-blind (pharmacotherapy), placebo-controlled, and comprehensive rehabilitation phase II clinical trial to determine the usefulness of pregabalin in a new indication (post-COVID chronic fatigue syndrome). Patients will be randomized in a 1:1:1:1 ratio to pregabalin (75-300 mg daily in two divided doses), comprehensive rehabilitation with a placebo drug, comprehensive rehabilitation with pregabalin (75-300 mg in two divided doses), or placebo (two divided doses) for 6 months (177-187 days). There will be 4 outpatient visits to the research center and 12 telephone consultations. The procedures and assessments performed as part of the study are listed in the study schedule. It is planned to include 132 patients in the study, which, assuming a 10% level of non-completion of the program, will result in the examination of 120 patients (30 in each arm). Patients will be recruited during an outpatient medical consultation with a general practitioner or neurologist, psychiatrist, psychologist or other specialists, as well as with the use of information materials in the form of leaflets and advertisements on the Internet.
The complex clinical symptoms of post COVID syndrome, especially chronic fatigue, pose a major challenge to patients and to the health care system and are frequently refractory to therapeutic intervention. There is increasing evidence that a dysregulated post-viral immune response may be involved in the pathogenesis of post COVID syndrome. In uncontrolled case studies, an improvement of fatigue symptoms after removing autoantibodies has been reported in post COVID patients. However, there is a lack of prospective, sham controlled studies. We initiate an interventional, randomised, sham treatment-controlled prospective study, the EXTINCT post COVID study, which aims to scientifically test the therapeutic efficacy of an extracorporeal apheresis procedure (immunoadsorption) for the treatment of a well characterized cohort of patients with post COVID syndrome, while at the same time providing basic research evidence for an understanding of the pathogenesis of post COVID syndrome. Thereby, we expect to obtain important insights into the diagnosis, treatment and pathophysiology of post-COVID syndrome.
This study is investigating changes to the proteins in skeletal muscle that contribute to reduced muscle size and muscle function that occurs with aging.
