Upper Trapezius Myofascial Trigger Point in Overhead Athletes After Upper Trapezius Muscle Fatigue

The healthy overhead athletes with and without upper trapezius myofascial trigger point will be asked to perform a scapular elevation task until the upper trapezius muscle fatigue. The first hypothesis is that the subjects with upper trapezius myofascial trigger point will show significant difference in scapular kinematics and muscles activities when compared to subjects without upper trapezius myofascial trigger point. Besides, the investigators suggest that subjects with/without upper trapezius myofascial trigger point will show significant difference in scapular kinematics and muscles activities after upper trapezius muscle fatigue, especially in subjects with upper trapezius myofascial trigger point.

Upper airway stimulation (UAS) is an effective surgical alternative for patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) who fail continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) therapy. This stimulation could lead to alterations in tongue strength and fatigability which could alter treatment outcome. The aim of the study is to investigate if UAS alters tongue strength and fatigability.

CBT on Fatigue in Survivors of Hodgkin Lymphoma

Background: Cancer-related fatigue is one of the most common patient-reported impairments in survivors of Hodgkin lymphoma and is associated with adverse effects on psychological well-being and everyday life including family, work and social participation. Methods: The investigators here present a bi-centric (Cologne and Leipzig) pilot-study for a web-based intervention (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) on cancer-related fatigue. In detail, the investigators will conduct a non-randomized and non-controlled before-and-after study in a minimum of 20 survivors of Hodgkin lymphoma. Levels of fatigue and quality of life will be measured before the intervention (T0), post-intervention (T1) and at 3-months follow-up (T2). Results: The investigators will provide information regarding the feasibility of the intervention (i.e., response rate, patient and therapist adherence, and patient satisfaction) and preliminary results on the efficacy of the program in reducing CRF and increasing levels of quality of life. Aims: The results of this pilot-study will provide essential information to conduct a future randomized clinical trial to investigate the efficacy of this intervention in reducing cancer-related fatigue in survivors with Hodgkin lymphoma.

Prevalence of Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome in Sarcoidosis and Impact of CPAP Treatment on Associated Fatigue Status

Sarcoidosis is a multisystemic granulomatous disease that affects individuals worldwide without known pathogenesis, and the role of comorbidities has not been fully assessed in the scientific literature. An increased incidence of Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome (OSAS) has been described in Sarcoidosis although this association has not been explained yet and no data is available about the effect of treatment with Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) in Sarcoidosis. Also, patients affected by Sarcoidosis usually experience a state of physical and mental weariness called fatigue and reported in approximately 60-80% sarcoid patients and thought to be a consequence of inflammatory mediators but the high prevalence of OSAS could be a remarkable bias in clinical evaluation because fatigue is also strongly associated with sleep disorders. Thus, there is a real need for assessing not only the real prevalence of OSAS in Sarcoidosis but also the effect of CPAP treatment on fatigue status experienced by sarcoidotic patients.
