The purpose of this trial is to compare the impact of a fruit and vegetable access plus nutrition education intervention to a nutrition education-only control on the health, well-being, and food security of early care and education (ECE) professionals. The intervention, called Nurturing Healthy Teachers, combines strategies from two evidence-based programs - Create Healthy Futures (CHF) and Brighter Bites (BB).

This study aims to describe demographics, clinical, treatment and healthcare resource utilization characteristics with a particular focus on those relating to cardiovascular disease in selected treatment intensified patients with type 2 diabetes in the real-world settings in India, Pakistan, and Thailand. The study will be based on data already recorded in participants medical record and no new tests or procedures are required as part of the study. The study will last for about 6 months and it does not affect participants current treatment.

The Good Food Rx: Food-as-medicine Program

This pilot study seeks to recruit 25 participants who meet program criteria by alleviating chronic morbidities that plague this region by providing participants with nutritional food boxes partnered with nutrition education classes to determine impact and potential benefits of using food as medicine. The key measures seeking to be examined in the program are reducing food insecurity, healthy food consumption, increased nutrition education, and a decrease in biometrics such as hypertension, A1C levels, hyperlipidemia indices, and obesity. UAMS East seeks to alleviate chronic morbidities and food insecurity by launching a food-as-medicine program called The Good Food Rx. The Good Food Rx Program couples established nutrition education classes participation with, at the same time, providing healthy curated nutritional food boxes to at-risk individuals.

Usual care is defined as participation in Living Well with Diabetes/Virtual Diabetes Self-Management Program and Primary Care Provider evaluation and management at the providers' discretion, including medication adjustment or interventions, and other types of interventions depending on clinical judgement.

Pre-operative Carbohydrates in Diabetic Patients Undergoing CABG

Preoperative carbohydrates (CHO) supplement has been shown to alleviate postoperative insulin resistance (IR) in nondiabetic patients undergoing a variety of surgeries. However, it remains controversial whether preoperative CHO could yield similar effects in diabetic patients. Thus, the investigators design a randomized controlled trial investigating the impact of preoperative CHO on postoperative IR and clinical outcomes in diabetic patients undergoing cardiac surgery. The results of the study may give some clinical implications and further improve perioperative care for diabetic patients.

Arginine-stimulated Indication of Early Outcome After Islet Transplantation

Through islet transplantation, functional β-cell mass can be restored. Allogeneic islet transplantation is a treatment modality for a select group of patients with complicated type 1 diabetes mellitus. For patients undergoing (partial) pancreas resection, autologous islet transplantation may help prevent complicated diabetes. Up until now, no studies have been performed on early islet graft function in the first week after transplantation. Early graft function may be a predictor for estimating long-term islet graft success. Arginine can excite β-cells to release insulin. It can thus provide an estimate of β-cell secretory capacity and can be used as an alternative to (oral) glucose tolerance tests. In this study, we aim to find a predictor model for islet graft function by assessing peak C-peptide after arginine stimulus in the early post-transplantation phase.
